ボイシ動物園 Boise Zoo

今日は昨日とはうって変わってとても良い天気でした。今週は春休みだったけれど，ブライアンも毎日仕事で家族でどこにも出かけたりしていませんでした。でも今日はブライアンが早めに仕事から帰って来てくれて，2時過ぎから3人で動物園に出かけました。年間パス（家族で90ドル）を買ったのでこれでいつでも好きな時に行けます☆小さい動物園なので2時間あれば一回りできちゃう感じ。

It was such a beautiful day unlike yesterday. We hadn't gone anywhere as a family during the spring break since Brian had to work everyday. But today Brian came home early (like 2 pm) and we decided to go to the zoo. We purchased an annual pass ($90/family), so now we can go to the zoo as many times we want. It's such a small zoo that you can see the whole thing in like 2 hours.

閉園近くまでいたので，そのまま夕飯を食べに行っちゃおうということで，Casa Mexicoというメキシコ料理のお店へ行きました。今日で3回目だけれど毎回いつも同じもの（チミチャンガ）を注文してしまう。。。大好きなんだよね～。でも食べ過ぎちゃう。もう夜中の12時になるというのにまだお腹がいっぱいな感じ。

We were at the zoo right before they closed, so it was close to dinner time and we decided to just go out for dinner. We went to a Mexican restaurant called Casa Mexico. It was our 3rd time to go there, but every time we go there, I order chimichanga. I love them. But I eat too much...It's almost midnight and I still feel full.

そして，今晩はさくらんぼのスコーンを作りました。オレンジ味のグレーズがさらにおいしさをひきたてます♪明日の朝食にいただきます。（味見でブライアンとすでに半分こして食べたけど。笑）

And I made dried cherry scones tonight. It's got yummy orange glaze that makes it even better. These are for breakfast tomorrow. (Brian and I already tried some though. We shared one because we were still full from dinner.)

白い恋人 Shiroi Koibito (Chocolat Blanc Langue de Chat)

昨日北海道のお友達から，結婚祝いのお返しに「白い恋人」が届きました♪お返しなどいただけると思っていなかったうえにおいしい「白い恋人」だったので，めちゃくちゃうれしくてキャーキャー叫んでしまいました（笑）今日食べてみたけれどラングドシャ―とホワイトチョコの組み合わせ最高💛日本のお菓子はやっぱりおいしい～。お友達に感謝。
I received a surprised package yesterday from one of my friends in Japan. I had sent her and her husband a photo book as their wedding gift, and she sent me one of the famous Japanese sweets called shiroi koibito (white chocolate & langue de chat) in turn. I didn't expect that coming, so got super excited and literally screamed with joy. lol Brian and I tried one tonight, but oh how I love Japanese sweets! Thank you my friend!

でもこの白い恋人，なんとAmazon（アメリカの）で売ってるのを発見！びっくりしすぎた。
But I just found out they are sold on Amazon.com! I was lost for words.

そして今日は一日中大雨。気温も低かったので雪混じりの雨でした。なのでどこへも行かず家でウィリアムとゲームをしたりテレビを見たり。二人で回り将棋もしました。昔家族でやったのを思い出します。
And it was raining all day today. And it was so cold too, so it was more like icy rain. William and I didn't go anywhere but stayed home and watched TV and played games, etc. We played one of the Japanese games called mawari shougi. It reminded me of my childhood, playing the game with my family. 

ポージョーズ PoJo's

もう3日も前のことですが，スペイン語を教えてもらっているマリエラの息子さん（ジェイコブ）の20歳の誕生会に招待されて行ってきました。ポージョーズという近くのゲームセンター的なところで，メリーゴーランドやゴーカートみたいのもあります。
So, we were invited for a birthday party at Pojo's Family Fun Center three days ago. It was for Jacob, my Spanish teacher, Mariela's son. 

一度も来たことがなかったので，ウィリアムは大喜び。メリーゴーランドは3回も乗りました。ブライアンも仕事が終わってから途中参加で来ることができ，夕飯はパーティーで出たピザで済ませました🍕
We had never been there before, and William was so excited to ride the carousel (he rode three times). Brian was able to join us after his work, so we all had pizza for dinner (that's what they had at the party). 

ウィリアムは炭酸が好きじゃないのだけれど，3種類違う種類のものを試して（オレンジソーダ，スプライト，ルートビア），メンソレータムの匂いのするルートビアが気に入ったようでたくさん飲んでました💦完璧アメリカ人。。。
William doesn't like soda, but he tried three different ones (orange soda, sprite, and root beer), and to my surprise, he liked root beer the best and kept drinking out of Brian's cup. He is totally American! lol

トークンでいろんなゲームもやって，それでもらったチケットで景品と交換したりして，ウィリアムにとってもわたしとブライアンにとっても楽しい時間となりました。ガヤガヤうるさい場所はあまり好きじゃないけれど，たまにはこういう楽しいところにウィリアムを連れて行ってあげないとかわいそうかなあ。
We played different games with tokens, and got tickets to exchange with prizes. It was fun not only for William but also for me and Brian. We hardly ever go to this type of place because we don't like noisy places, but it might be good to take William once in a while, so he can have fun.

春休み Spring Break

今日から春休みが始まりました。今週は幼稚園もYMCAもありません。だから朝はゆっくりしていられるので楽だけれど，一日ウィリアムとずーっと一緒なので何をしていいか迷う～。しかも今週雨の日が多いみたいなのでどうしましょう。
Spring break started, so no school or YMCA class this week. It's nice that I don't have to worry about getting up early to get ready, but being with William all day everyday is tough. I don't know what to do to entertain him. It looks like it's going to rain a few days this week, so hopefully I can come up with some fun indoor activities. 

幸い今日ウィリアムは幾つかの子供のテレビ番組を見たり相変わらず集中して絵を描いたりして良い子にしてくれていたので助かりました。見たテレビ番組の中で海賊や宝探しのことをやっていて，それを見たら自分の宝の地図が作りたくなったようで残りの一日はひたすら地図を描いていました。明日はちょっとは外へ出かけようと思うけどなかなかウィリアムが出かけたがらないので困る。
Luckily William was easy to take care of today. He watched a few TV shows, and drew pictures for the rest of the day. Some of the TV programs he watched were about pirates and treasure hunt, and he wanted to make his own treasure maps (yes, more than one). 

今晩は月曜日だったので「家庭の夕べ」をやりました。レッスンの後，活動はウィリアムのリクエストで先週に引き続きジェンガ（笑）ウィリアムなかなか上手です。
And since it was Monday today, we had Family Home Evening tonight. After the lesson, we played Jenga (upon William's request). William is pretty good at this game.

コーンビーフ＆キャベツ Corned Beef & Cabbage

先週セントパトリックスデーに食べようと思っていたけれど，準備に6日かかるために食べ損ねたアイルランド料理のコーンビーフ＆キャベツが出来上がりました。市販のコーンビーフとは全然違っておいしい♪もうこれ以外のやつは食べれない！時間はかかるけれど全然簡単にできちゃうし，来年また作るのが楽しみ☆
We missed having corned beef & Cabbage for St. Patrick's Day since I had no clue it would take 6 days for the brisket to be ready to cook. But finally it was ready and had it for dinner. The corned beef was totally different from the store bought corned beef I have had before and I don't think I can go back to the pre-maid corned beef ever! I'm excited to make it again next year. :)

お絵かき Drawing Pictures

最近ウィリアムはいろんな絵を描いたりするのにハマってます。毎日毎日ひたすら惑星の絵とか，地図とか，ノートや白い紙いっぱいに（裏表）描きまくっています。結構集中力すごい。ご飯も後回し。
William has been into drawing pictures lately. Sometimes it's planets, sometimes he draws some type of maps, etc. He draws on both sides of white paper or notebook paper and is so focused that he doesn't even want to come to the dining table at the meal time.

今日（もう日が変わっちゃいましたが）ハマっていたのはミツバチとハチの巣の絵。ひたすら描いてました。
Today (well it's already yesterday), he was into drawing pictures of honeybees and honeycombs. 

音楽のクラスに行く時間になったら，先生に見せるんだと言って持っていきました。行きの車の中でボソッと「結婚するときこれ持っていく。すごい好きだから」と言っていました。奥さんどんな反応するだろうね（笑）
When the time came to go to his music class, he wanted to bring the paper to the class to show it to his teacher. And on the way there in the car, he said "I'll take this with me when I get married." I would like to know how his wife would react. lol

ところで昨晩の夕飯はイタリアン料理。手作りのトマトソース，イタリアンソーセージ入り。それに手作りのパスタ。パスタはもうちょっと薄くのばさないとなんかほうとうみたいに分厚くなってしまった。。。でもおいしく出来たのでよかった。また明日も残りを食べるけどパスタはないから作り直すので，もうちょっと上手に作れるといいな。
And we had an Italian dish for dinner last night. Homemade pasta & homemade tomato sauce with Italian sausage. It turned out pretty good. Pasta could be thinner though. We'll be eating the leftover tomorrow night, but there's no more pasta left over, so I hope I can make it better tomorrow. We'll see.

ミッキーゴー！ Mickeygo

おととい月曜日はウィリアムのプリスクールもYMCAもなかったので，OLD NAVYにウィリアムの新しいパジャマと靴下を買いに行ってきました。
On Monday, William had no preschool or YMCA class, so we went to OLD NAVY to get William's new jammies and socks. 


写真はないけど，セールをやっててパジャマ上下セット2着と靴下2足買って2000円ほど☆うれしい♪
I don't have the picture, but I bought two sets of jammies and 2 pair of socks for like 20 dollars! I love sales.

その後はランチでウェンディーズへ。いつもはドライブスルーで買うけど，ウィリアムがお店で食べたいと言うので中で食べました。
After that, we went to Wendy's for lunch. We normally go to drive through, but William wanted to go in, so we dined in this time.


ファーストフードのお店とか行って注文するときたいがいブライアンが一緒なので，オーダーするとき名前を聞かれるとブライアンの名前を言うんだけれど，今回いなかったので自分の名前を言うことになり，最初ミキコって言ったけど難しいだろうと判断してミッキーでいいよって伝えました。
Whenever we go out to a fast food place, Brian is usually with us, so we just tell his name when we order, but this time he wasn't with us, so I had to tell the employee my name. I said my name (Mikiko) but I told him Micky would be okay.

それから食べ終わってふとレシートを見ると，自分の名前がこんなことに。MICKEYGOって（笑）ミッキーゴー！チアリーダーの応援みたいな（笑）かなりうけました。
Then after I finished eating and looked at the receipt, this is what I found. "MICKEYGO" Sounds like a cheerleading cheer or something. lol

聖パトリック祭 St. Patrick's Day

昨日3月17日はアイルランドの聖パトリックの祝日でした。アイルランドのシンボルカラーの緑やシャムロック（3つ葉のクローバー）のついたものを身に着けたり，レプラコーン（アイルランドの妖精）に仮装したりしてお祝いします。わたしたちも緑の服を着て（数年前に作った名字入りのTシャツ。オバノンはアイルランド系の名前です）お祝いしました。スーパーに用事があって出かけたけれど，結構多くの人たちが緑着てました。
It was St. Patrick's Day yesterday. There were quite a few people wearing green clothes as we went out to the grocery store to get some stuff. We wore a green t-shirt we ordered a few years ago as well. 

今日は講師の都合でYMCAのクラスがお休みになったので，それじゃあということで，緑色のフロスティングを塗ったカップケーキをたくさん作って（68個）いろんな人にあげました。自分たちの分に残した数個を残して全部なくなりました。やっぱお祝いごとには何かやんないと楽しくないよね。来年は何をしようかなあ。
There wasn't YMCA class for William because the instructor was going to be out of town, so I decided to make bunch of cupcakes with green frosting to celebrate. I invited people in town to come over to grab some, but only one family came. lol But it was okay. I didn't expect many people to come. Some just couldn't make it during the time I suggested. So, William and I went out to deliver them instead. And all the cupcakes were gone except the ones I kept for ourselves. It's always fun to do things like this. I'm already thinking about next year. lol

ところで，夕飯にはアイルランド料理のコーンビーフ＆キャベツを作る予定で昨日その材料を買ってきました。でも出来上がっているコーンビーフを買う代わりに，最初からビーフを作ろうと思ってそれ用の牛肉を買ってきました。ところがレシピをちゃんと読まずに買いに行って，家に帰って来てから作るのにどれくらいかかるのかなあとか思って読んでみたら，肉を準備してから6日待たなくちゃ食べれないって書いてあるじゃないか！？(*_*)ということでコーンビーフは食べれませんでした。だから仕方なく夕飯は韓国料理のプルコギ。緑がないのでご飯に食紅入れて緑色に炊きました（笑）
By the way, I was thinking of making corned beef and cabbage for dinner. So, I bought the stuff yesterday, but instead of buying pre-made corned beef, I bought some beef brisket, and I had no clue that it took like a week before I can eat after preparing the meat! So, I couldn't have corned beef tonight (We'll be eating it in a week). Instead, I cooked Bulgogi (Korean BBQ) with green rice (I had to throw some green in the meal).

それから最後に一つ。セントパトリックスデーのシャムロックは3つ葉のクローバーで四つ葉じゃありません！でも結構みんな知らないみたいで（恥ずかしいことに現アメリカ大統領も知らなかった）1ドルショップで買ってきたこの帽子にも四つ葉のクローバーが！よく見ないで買ってきちゃったけど，気づいてたら絶対買わなかった！今朝気づいてリボンのところ取って捨てました（笑）
And one last thing I want to write is about shamrock. So many people here don't know shamrock only has 3 leaves, but 4! (Even our new President didn't know that which is very embarrassing). I got this hat from a dollar store without realizing (If I knew, I wouldn't have bought it). I just noticed this morning, and threw the ribbon part away. lol
