クランキー Cranky the Crane

4月ころにウィリアムが一人で一晩中眠れたらシールを貼れるチャートを作り，それを1か月ほど続けることができたらトーマスに出てくるクレーンのクランキーを買ってあげることになっていました（ブライアンが約束した）。
In April, we made "I can sleep by myself" chart for William. He had been waking up and waking us up every single night and we needed to do something about it. When we made the chart, Brian promised William that he would buy him a Cranky the crane (from Thomas & Friends) if he could sleep by himself for a month.

数週間前に出来ていたはずだけど，ウィリアムが結構シールを貼り忘れていたので今になってしまいましたがようやくクランキーゲット✨✨よくがんばりました。こちらも安眠妨害されず助かってます（＾＾）
And William was finally able to achieve his goal (it could have been done a few weeks sooner if he hadn't forgotten to put stickers). He did a good job. Now we are happy as well since he doesn't disturb our sleep.

早速線路をつなげてクランキーに夢中。よかったね～。
He is happily playing with Cranky now. :)

フルーツタルト Fruit Tart

今日は日曜日で，ブライアントの家族との夕飯のためのデザートにフルーツタルトを作りました。
I made a fruit tart for Sunday family dinner with Brian's family. 

ユーキャンのスイーツの講座のレシピ本にあったデザートです。見本の写真とは全然違った出来になったけれど，まあまあおいしかったです。もっと上手にいろんなデザートを作れるようになりたいです。
This recipe was in the recipe book for the sweets course I have been taking. It looks a bit different from the picture that was in the book, but tasted pretty good. I would like to be able to make many yummy desserts. 


今日はウィリアムがクッキーを一緒に作りたいというので型抜きクッキー。ウィリアムの希望でアンパンマンです（＾＾）
William wanted to bake some cookies with me, so we baked some sugar cookies. He wanted to cut out with this Japanese anime character (called an-pan-man) cookie cutter.

サマーカット Summer Haircut

今日は午前中に自分の髪を切りました。微妙な出来だけど長くなってきていて耐えられなかったのでサッパリ。写真はありません！
My hair was getting too long and couldn't stand it any longer, and I finally cut my hair this morning. I feel so much better even though I didn't do it all that great. No picture available. lol


そして午後はウィリアムの髪を切りました。こちらもサッパリ。
And in the afternoon, I gave William a haircut. He looks much cooler, doesn't he?

新しい髪型でさっそく変顔😵やんちゃ坊主がますますやんちゃ坊主っぽくなりました。

今日は40度まで上がり，朝ウィリアムとバランスバイク乗りに行ったくらいで外にはまったく出ませんでした。この暑い中，ブライアンは庭でせっせこいろいろやってくれてました。夕飯もバーベキューサーモンをしてくれて，とってもおいしかったです✨ブライアンありがとう！
It got up to 104 today. I only went outside for a balance bike ride with William and ran an errand to the store early in the morning. Brian worked in the yard for a while and barbecued salmon for dinner. The salmon was so good! Thank you Brian!

テント Tent

今日もまた暑い一日でした。最高気温38度。明日は40度の予報。。。まじ暑い。
It was such a hot day again. 100 degrees. It's supposed to get up to 104 tomorrow. Ugh.


今日は午前中教会のお友達の家に遊びに行ってきました。ウィリアムと誕生日が1か月違いのお友達です。外で遊んだり，家の中に子供用テントを組み立てて遊んだり，椅子で遊んだり。楽しそうでした。
So, in the morning, William had a playdate with one of the friends from church. They were born one month apart. They had so much fun together. They played outside, and came inside and played with mattress and blankies, tents, and chairs. 

家に帰る途中でウィリアムが家でもテントで遊びたいと言い出して，前あった子供用のは壊れて捨ててしまったのでないから買いに行こうと聞かず（もちろん今日じゃないとダメと），お昼ごはんを食べに家に戻ってから買いに行きましたよ（－＿－；）25ドルでこれなかなかいいテントです。
On our way home, William told me he wanted to have snacks in a tent at home. But his kid's tent broke last year or so and we threw it away. William insisted we go buy a tent and it had to be done today of course, so we went to Target and got one for $25. It is a pretty nice tent. 

今日午後畑に水やりに行ったら，なんと！昨日までよく育っていた日本の長ナス2本の実がない！！！ありえなーい！あとちょっとで収穫できると思って楽しみにしていたのに。恐らくリスの仕業。ゆるすまじ～～～😠
By the way, I went out to water our garden this afternoon, and noticed two of my eggplants that were almost ready to pick were gone!!! I couldn't believe it! I'm thinking it's squirrels, but I want to shoot them with a bb gun!

それから今晩は宣教師を夕飯に招待してありました。今日が転勤日で一人新しい長老が来たので，恒例の納豆チャレンジ。後味が好きじゃなかったようで，何杯も水やジュースを飲みまくっていました（苦笑）
And we had the missionaries over for dinner tonight. Today was a transfer day and we got a new missionary. That means natto (fermented soybeans) challenge! He did not like the after taste and had to keep drinking water and juice. ha ha.

アメリカ独立記念日 Happy 4th of July!

今日はアメリカの独立記念日でした。この国の自由を守るために働いてくれている軍人の方たちに感謝しています。
It was Independence Day today. I'm grateful for the freedom we have in this country and for those who serve to protect the freedom. 


今朝は，9時からのコールドウェルのパレードを見に行きました。すごい華やかなパレードではないんだけれど，人があんまりいなくて椅子に座ってパレード見れるあたりがちょうどいい感じです。
So, in the morning, we went down to Caldwell to see the parade. I like how it's not a big one and you get to sit in a chair and watch.

パレードの後は同じくコールドウェルで独立記念日のイベントが行われている公園の近くにある屋外の歴史博物館的なところに行きました。ウィリアムの大好きな電車と風車が置いてあってここ3年毎年来ています。それから公園のイベントもちょろっと覗いてウィリアムは大きい恐竜のぬり絵の本をただでもらってきました。
After the parade, we went to this outdoor museum place we have been going to for the last three years. It's got a train and a windmill William likes. And we went across the street where the event was going on, and William got a big dinosaur coloring book for free.

その後は義理の妹家族の家に行ってみんなでランチをして，しばらくそれぞれくつろいでいました。ブライアンは甥っ子のティーガンとマリオのチェスを真剣にやってました（笑）
Then, we went over to my sister-in-law's family's house to have lunch and we were just relaxing for a while. Brian was playing chess seriously with his nephew Teagan. lol

そして子供たちが楽しみにしていた水風船。大人も（あのブライアンも！）混じってみんなで楽しい時間を過ごしました。が，めっちゃんこ濡れまくってTシャツもジーンズからもたくさん水が絞れるほどでした。💦💦💦
After a while, we had a water balloon fight. Both kids and adults (even Brian) had a great time together. But, I got soaking wet! I could squeeze water out of both my t-shirt and my pants!

夜は花火があちこちで上がっていたけれど，夜暗くなるのが遅いので10時過ぎまで始まらないため，ウィリアムには遅すぎるのでここ数年花火は断念。今もう夜12時になろうとしているけど，まだ辺りで花火をやっている人たちがいる。そろそろ終わりにしてほしいです。。。
We did not go see fireworks tonight. It's just too late for William since it doesn't start until after 10 because it doesn't get dark until then. :( It's almost midnight, but I can still hear some people lighting fireworks. I hope they will stop soon...

ぬり絵 Coloring by Number

今日は暑くなるということで，朝8時ころから20分ほどだけウィリアムのバランスバイク乗りに行ってきました。
It was going to be really hot this week, so William and I went for his balance bike riding at 8 this morning, just for 20 minutes.


その後は，午後わたしの病院の予約があった以外はウィリアムはず～っとぬり絵に没頭。先日の番号ごとに色が割り当てられているやつを幾つもやってました。一旦はまるとすごい集中力です。
Almost all day except the time we were having meals and went out for my doctor's appointment, William worked on coloring by number. He has quite an attention span when he shows interest in something.

今日やったやつの写真を全部撮りたいと言うので全部撮りました。ウィリアムが撮影しました（ぶれるので少しカメラを抑えていてあげたけど）。
William wanted to take all the pictures of his work from today, so here they are. He took all of these pictures with a little bit of my help.

今晩は暑かったけれど頑張って唐揚げとチャーハン。チャーハンもっとおいしく作れるようになりたいなあ。
I didn't want to cook these (fried rice & fried chicken) tonight since it was so hot today, but I did it because I didn't know what else to cook. I wish I could cook fried rice better. 

そして夜ウィリアムが寝てから好き嫌いの多いウィリアムのためにパンを作りました。ウィリアムが好きなシナモンシュガー入りのパンと，自分とブライアン用にチーズのパン。ウィリアム食べてくれるといいな。
And after William went to bed, I baked some bread for William who is a super picky eater. These are cinnamon sugar bread and cheese bread. Cinnamon ones are for William, and cheese ones are for me and Brian. I hope William eats them.

お友達の誕生会 Friend's Birthday

今日はお友達のサムちゃんの4歳の誕生日パーティーに行ってきました。サムちゃんは結構近くに住んでいる同じく日本人とアメリカ人のハーフのお友達でたまに一緒に遊びます。
We went to a birthday party for one of our friends, Sam. He just turned 4. He lives not far from us and is also half Japanese, so we have playdates occasionally.


夕飯時だったのでコストコのピザ（たしか7枚あった）をみんなで食べ，子供たちは外で水遊び。ウィリアムは水が嫌だと言って水着を着てこなかったのでプールに入って遊べませんでした。それなのに入りたいと言い出しておいっ！って感じ。だから何度も水着に着替えて行こうと言ったのに😠
We had Costco pizza (there were 7 of them) and the kids all went outside to play with water. William had told me that he didn't want to play with water, so he didn't have a swimsuit on, so he couldn't go into the pool. But of course he whined because he wanted to go in (sigh...). Just to make it clear, I had asked him a few times before we left the house if he really did not want to wear the swimsuit because all other kids would be playing with water, but he said no.

しばらくしてから誕生日の歌を歌ってケーキを食べ。。。
Anyway, we sang a birthday song to Sam, and had some cake.

プレゼントを開けて。。。
Then opened the presents.


お開きとなりました。
Then the party was over.


ウィリアムの誕生日も来月。そろそろ何か考えないとなあ。。。
William's birthday is coming up. I should start thinking about it soon.
