家族写真 Family Pictures

クリスマスでオバノン家が皆そろったところで家族写真を撮ってもらいました。家族の友達のレイチェルがいつも撮ってくれます。

Since our family got together for Christmas, we had family pictures taken. Our friend, Rachel does a great job. :)

クリスマス Christmas

メリークリスマス☆と言うには少し過ぎてしまいましたが。。。こちらアイダホはイブの夜から雪が降り始めて文字通りホワイトクリスマスとなりました。朝8時ころまで寝ていて，それから朝ごはんを食べて，その後にツリーの下にあったたくさんのプレゼントを開けました。毎年もらいすぎってほどたくさんのプレゼントをもらいます。日本の正月みたいなものかなあ。子供たちがたくさんお年玉もらって。まあこっちは大人もたくさんプレゼントもらうけれど。

午後からはブライアンの実家へ行って，そこでみんなでまたプレゼントを開けあって，夜はブライアンの妹家族の家へ移動してクリスマスディナー。長い一日だったけれど家族と良い一日を過ごすことができてよかったです。

It's a bit late, but Merry Christmas! It started snowing on Christmas Eve, so we literally had a White Christmas. We got up around 8, then had breakfast, and finally opened the presents that were under our Christmas tree. We each received so many presents. Every year I get overwhelmed by all the gifts.

In the afternoon, we went to Brian's parents to open more presents there with the family, then we went over to his sister's family's house for dinner. It was a long but great day.

今更の投稿ですが～，10月中旬から1か月ちょっとウィリアムと日本に帰っていました。秋に帰れたので紅葉を楽しんだり，おイモや栗などおいしいものがたくさん食べれて最高でした！ブライアンは後から10日ほど来て，その間は東京や奈良などあちこち出かけて疲れました。笑　たくさん友達にも会えてうれしかったです。また次に帰れる日を楽しみにしています。

Well, it's been over two weeks since I got back from Japan, but it's never too late to post things in the past right? :) William and I were there for a little over a month and Brian came later to join us for 10 days. While Brian was there, we went to Tokyo, Nara and other places nearby and had a great time. We were so tired though. I was glad that I got to see many of my friends as well. I'm looking forward to visiting Japan again.

感謝祭 Thanksgiving

今日は感謝祭でした。おもいっきり食べて苦しい～。たくさんの祝福に感謝。家族とのディナーの後で子供たちはジンジャーブレッドハウス作りで盛り上がっていました。

Happy Thanksgiving! I has so much food! I'm so grateful for the many blessings I have been given. After the dinner, kids were having fun making a gingerbread house.

トイレトレーニング Potty Training

ウィリアム2歳になったので，昨日からトイレトレーニング始めました。今のところ，ズボンも脱いでくれなくって，とにかくおまるに座れたらシール一つ。気長にやりま～す。

He started potty training yesterday since he is now two. Well, for now, he doesn't even want to take off his pants and he gets a sticker if he could sit on the potty. I'll just take it easy and see how things will go.

納豆チャレンジ Natto Challenge

2日前に宣教師が家に来て夕飯を一緒に食べました。月に一度は招待するようにしています。今回初めて納豆を試してもらいました。二人とも好きじゃなかったみたいけど無理もない。ブライアンも納豆だけはダメです。おいしいのに。

We had missionaries over for dinner two nights ago. We try to have them over for dinner once a month. I made them try Natto for the first time and they didn't like it. I don't blame them. Brian doesn't like it either. I think they are yummy though.

He loves Monkey so I bought him a big monkey balloon.

8月29日でウィリアム2歳になりました！早い！元気に成長してくれていてうれしいけれど，どんどん大きくなっちゃってさみしい～！

William turned two on August 29th. Time flies! I'm glad that he has been growing well, but I'm a little sad that he is growing too fast!

ローマトマト Roma Tomatoes

同じ教会に行っている方からたくさんのローマトマトをもらいました（19リットルくらい入る容器に山盛り）。それでトマトソース（冷凍）を作ったり，保存用にトマトを瓶詰したり，ドライトマトのオリーブ油漬けを作りました♪たくさん作れてとても嬉しい！

A member from the ward gave us tons of Roma tomatoes (5 gallon bucket full), so I made some tomato sauce and dried tomatoes (in olive oil). And I canned most of them. I feel so blessed!

レモニーレモンブラウニー Lemony Lemon Brownies

ズッキーニがたくさん庭の畑になって使い道に困っていたけれど，インターネットでおいしそうなブラウニーのレシピを見つけました。おいしかった！

I didn't know what to do with all the zucchinis we get from our garden, and one day I found this yummy lemon brownie recipe. They were so yummy!

わさび生姜チップス Wasabi Ginger Chips

先月買い物に行ったときにわさび生姜味のポテトチップスを見つけました。わたしはわさびが苦手なのでおいしくないだろうと思ったけれど，日本のわさび味のお菓子に比べたら全然わさびの味がしなくておいしく食べれました。このほかにもマンゴーサルサ味っていうのも食べたけれど，これはわたしは好きじゃなかった。ブライアンはおいしいと言って食べていたけれど。

I found this Wasabi Ginger flavored chips last month at a grocery store. I didn't think I'd like them since I don't like wasabi, but it didn't have strong wasabi flavor at all and I actually like them. I have tried Mango Salsa chips as well, but I didn't like them. Brian liked them though.

やっとフォークを使うようになりました Finally Using a Fork

ウィリアム最近やっとフォークを使って自分で食べるようになりました。全部じゃないけど。でも，ブドウとか丸くてすべるものまでフォークで食べようとして刺さらないから怒ったりするんだよね～。

William finally started eating some food with a fork. But, he tries to eat things like grapes and gets mad because he can't stab them. :(

五十音 Japanese Alphabet

最近ウィリアムに五十音を教えようと思って「あい」「かき」「さし」・・・と頭2つを言ったら，思いもよらずに繰り返してびっくり。と同時にとってもうれしかった！これまでウィリアムが話した日本語と言えば「おいしょっ」だけ。苦笑　あとはみんな英語。Tree，foot，juice，cookie，apple，baby，など。10月に1か月ほど日本に行くことにしたので，ちょっと日本語話してくれるようになるといいなと期待してます。

I wanted William to learn Japanese alphabet, so one day I said some of the alphabets to him and unexpectedly he repeated me back! I was surprised, but at the same time I was so happy because the only Japanese word he has said is "Oisho"(oops a daisy type of thing). Other than that he say all the words in English like tree, foot, juice, cookie, apple, baby, etc. We are going to Japan in October for about a month, so hopefully he will start speaking Japanese more.

久しぶり～ It's Been a While

ブログをしばらくアップしてませんでした。忙しかったからのウィリアムから風邪もらってダウンしていました。これでここ3か月でウィリアムから風邪もらってダウンしたの3度目。つらいです。

ブログをアップしていなかった間に起きたことをアップしていきます。

まずはこれから。前に話した蜂の巣が大きくなってしまってついにブライアンがスプレーでやっつけました！まだちょっといるけどまあよしとします。

It's been a while since I updated my blog. I got busy, then got another cold from William (third time in the last three months!).

I'll post about the things that happened since I posted my last blog.

I'll start with the wasp nest we have had. It was getting bigger and bigger, so finally Brian sprayed the nest! There are a few more wasps left, but I say it's OK for now.

ラミネーター Laminate Machine

最近念願のラミネーターを買いました！あるお店でセールで安く売っていたので思い切って購入。最初の作品はウェンディーズのウェンディーちゃんのラミネート。ウィリアムが好きなんです。笑

Recently, I bought a laminate machine I had been wanting to have for a long time. It was on sale at a store so I decided to buy it. The first thing I laminated with it was Wendy's logo. William loves her. lol

ブライアンの誕生日祝い Brian's Birthday Celebration

もう23日のことだけど，ブライアンの誕生日でした。その前の土曜日にTucanosにお祝いを兼ねて食事に行きました（ブライアンの分はただになるので）。今回もマラカス持ってシャカシャカお店の人にお祝いしてもらいました。

誕生日当日は普通に家で夕飯食べて，買ってきたキーライムパイを食べて（これがすごくおいしかった！），プレゼントを渡して，と普通に過ごしました。ほかの家族との誕生日祝いも前の週にやって，ちょうど甥っ子の誕生日も近かったので一緒にやりました。ブライアン誕生日おめでとう☆

Brian's birthday was on the 23rd. The Saturday before, we went out to Tucanos for lunch since he can dine there for free. Again, the restaurant staff came and sang a birthday song while Brian was shaking the maracas.

On his actual birthday, we just had dinner at home, had some yummy key lime pie from Marie Callender, and Brian opened some presents. He had another birthday party the week before (it was a combined party with his nephew). Happy Birthday Brian!

ウィリアムとブドウ William and Grapes

ウィリアムはブドウが大好き。多分わたしが妊娠中に唯一食べれたものの一つがブドウで良く食べてたからかも。ほかに何も食べなくてもブドウをあげればパクパク食べます。でもここ最近は好き嫌いが激しいというか，食べたいときにその時に食べたいものしか食べなくて，ブドウも食べなかったりするので困ります。

William loves grapes. I think that's because they were some of the only food I could eat during my pregnancy and I would often eat them. He would eat grapes without fail, well, until recently. Now he eats only when and what he wants to eat, and he doesn't even eat grapes much anymore. Sigh.

ハワイアンピザ Hawaiian Pizza

もう2週間以上前のことになりますが，すっごくピザが食べたくて，しかもベーコンとパイナップルのピザが食べたくってピザオーダーしました。今回はピザハットで。Lサイズのピザで8ドルくらいでした。安い♪満たされました。

It was over 2 weeks ago, but I was craving for some pizza, bacon and pineapple pizza to be exact. So we ordered a large size pizza from pizza hut just for about $8. Satisfied!

七夕 Star Festival

昨日は七夕でした。でも笹がないので，裏庭に生えているなんとなく笹に似ている雑草を笹に見立てて短冊を飾ってみました。

Yesterday was Tanabata (Star Festival http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tanabata). We didn't have a bamboo tree to decorate, so we used a plant in our backyard that kind of looks like a bamboo tree. 

ズッキーニブレッド Zucchini Bread

庭の畑の野菜が収穫できるようになってきました。ズッキーニが最近良く採れて，もう2回もズッキーニブレッドを作りました。ウィリアムが野菜を全然食べないので困るけれど，ズッキーニブレッドにするとパクパク食べてくれるので助かります。

We are harvesting some vegetables already from our garden. Lately we have been getting many zucchinis, so I baked zucchini bread twice already. William hardly eats vegetables, but he eats zucchini bread, so it helps.

緊急治療室 ER

今日は結構良い一日を送っていたけど，緊急治療室に行く羽目に。ウィリアム頬に5針縫いました。泣 　ブライアンの両親と妹が様子を見に来てくれました。ありがとう！

We were having a pretty good day, but ended up going to ER. William got five stitches on his cheek. Thank you grandpa, grandma, and aunty for coming over!

野菜成長してます！ Veggies are Growing!!

今日庭の畑を見てみたら，ズッキーニの花が咲いていました！トマトもたくさん実がなってきて楽しみ♪

I went to see our garden in the backyard today and found a flower on a zucchini plant. Also, tomato plants have more tomatoes now. I'm so excited!
