たこ焼きパーティー Takoyaki (Octopus Balls) Party

ここのところ仕事が忙しくてブログをアップできていませんが，3日前の土曜日に，ボイシに住む日本人の教会員の新婚さん夫婦とたこ焼きパーティーをしました☆クリスマスプレゼントにもらったたこ焼き器初めて使いました。ゆでダコがどこにも売ってなくて，仕方なく，タコまる一匹冷凍の生のやつを買ってきてゆでるところから始めました。そんなに新鮮なタコじゃあない感じだったけれど，まあ一応おいしくたこ焼きできて満たされました～♪たこ焼き大好き～❤

I have been busy with a big translation job that came in last week, so this is the post from three days ago, but I had a takoyaki (octopus balls) party with my Japanese church friends (They are newly married❤). I was happy to be able to use takoyaki maker for the first time and it worked pretty well. The hardest thing was to find octopus! I couldn't find any boiled one, so I had to get a whole frozen raw octopus and boil it myself. It wasn't the greatest octopus, but tasted fine in takoyaki. I love takoyaki!

エイミー先生 Ms. Amy

今日（もう日付が変わってしまったけれど）はこれまで図書館での幼児早期学習プログラムの先生をしてくれていたエイミー先生の最後の日でした。新しい仕事が見つかりこれからそちらの方へ。子供たちみんなさみしくなります。次の先生，いい先生が見つかるといいな。

It was Ms. Amy's last day today (well the day already changed, so it was actually yesterday) as an instructor for YMCA's Early Learning Readiness program. Kids will miss her so much. We all hope the next instructor will be as wonderful as she is.

ちなみにこれは，おやつタイムに出たカップケーキ（エイミー先生のお別れ会用の）。恐ろしいほどのバタークリームが乗ってる（＠＿＠）

By the way, this is the cupcake the kids had for the snack today. Too much butter cream on top!

散髪 Haircut

昨日のことですが，ウィリアムのもっさもさしていた髪をやっと切らせてもらいました！短くなってさっぱり！毎回思うけど，短くなるともっと年上に見えるし，日本人っぽくなる。そしてもっとやんちゃ坊主っぽくも。

I finally cut William's hair yesterday! It was getting too long! Every time I cut his hair, he looks a lot older, more Japanese and more mischief. :)

バレンタインデー Happy Valentine's Day!

今日はバレンタインデーでした。日ごろから愛と忍耐を示してくれるブライアンとウィリアムに感謝。わたしはきれいなバラとおいしそうなチョコレートをもらいました。わたしから二人には安物のチョコレート。でも夕飯にハンバーグとデザートにチョコチーズケーキを作りました。このチーズケーキがものすごいおいしいのなんのって！すごい濃厚でチョコとチーズケーキの最高の組み合わせ♪

Today was Valentine's Day. I'm so grateful for Brian and William who are so loving and patient with me. We gave gifts to each other and celebrated with some hamburg stake and chocolate cheesecake. The cheesecake was divine!! 

ハリー・ポッター Harry Potter

少し前にアメリカ人の友達から日本語のハリー・ポッターの一巻をもらって読んではまってしまい（はい，今更です，笑），全部読みたいと思って日本から全巻取り寄せていたのが昨日届きました！これからハリー・ポッター漬けの日が続きそうです（＾ｖ＾）

I'm finally reading Harry Potter!One of my American friends gave me the fist Harry Potter book in Japanese last year, and I just loved it. I wanted to read all of it, so recently ordered them from Japan and they came yesterday! I'm excited! I'll be reading Harry Potter for a while I guess. :)

Piano Guysコンサート Piano Guys Concert

今日はPiano Guysのコンサートに友達と行ってきました。めっちゃよかったぁ～！留守の間にウィリアムを見ていてくれたブライアンありがとう～☆

I went to the Piano Guys concert with my friend this afternoon. It was so awesome! They were super talented and just so amazing! I'm thankful for Brian for watching William while I was gone. (But he didn't want to pay $50 for the concert, so that's what he gets, ha ha.)

チェリオー・バー Cheerio Bars

こうなるはずが・・・It was supposed to be like this..

こうなってしまった。。。turned out to be a disaster...

少し前にウィリアムのためにハニーナッツチェリオーズ（シリアルの一種）を買ったけれど，ウィリアムがおいしくないと言って食べないので（これ嫌いな子会ったことない），これを使ってチェリオー・バーというお菓子を作ることにしました。ところがこの世で恐らくいちばん作るの簡単なはずなやつなのに見事失敗！6カップ分ものチェリオーズ，いったいどうしよう。。。

We bought a box of honey nut cheerios for William a while ago, but he didn't like them, and since none of us eat cereals, I decided to make peanut butter cheerio bars, like one of the easiest desserts to make right?! Guess what, I failed big time! The cheerios didn't get stick together, so now I have this bowl full of (6 cups!) cheerios I don't know what to do with. :(

節分 Setsubun

ちょっといろいろあって，投稿が久しぶりになってしまいましたが，先日3日の節分の日に，恵方巻きを作りました。日本では食べる習慣全然なかったけれど，なぜかこっちに来てから作ってます。でも全然しきたりを無視して，一口サイズに切っちゃってるし，無言で食べるとか一定の方角向いて食べるとか全然気にしてません。一応日本の文化を取り入れてるってことで。食事の後は，豆まき。去年は大豆を炒って豆まき用の豆を作ったけれど，今年は余裕なく，たまたま家にあったたまごボーロで代用。ブライアンとウィリアムに鬼のお面をかぶせてボーロを投げまくらせてもらいました（笑）

Things got a little crazy and I didn't get to post for a while, but on the 3rd, we celebrated Setsubun (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Setsubun) by having sushi rolls and throwing beans (we didn't have the roasted soy beans, so used Japanese kids snacks instead).
