シナモンロール Cinnamon Rolls

ここ数日寒くて最高気温が15度も行かないほど。家の中も暖房オンにしてます。でも明日からまた暑くなるみたい。
It's been very cold the last a couple days and we still have the heater on. It looks like it's going to be hot again tomorrow though. 

相変わらず雨さえ降っていなければウィリアムは毎日バランスバイクに乗っています。だいぶ上手になってきてわざと蛇行運転したりしてます。
William has been riding his balance bike everyday except for rainy days. He is getting good at it and weaves over the road on purpose.

ところで，シナモンロールにハマっています。日曜日にブライアンの家族との夕飯のデザートのために作って食べ，もっと食べたくなったからまた昨日も作って食べ，今日もその残りを食べ，明日も残りを食べる予定。🐷おいしくてやめられない。
By the way, I have been into cinnamon rolls. I made some on Sunday for the dessert for family dinner, but I wanted to eat more, so I made some more yesterday and ate. And I had some leftover today for breakfast and after dinner tonight, and will be eating some more tomorrow. They are so yummy!

それから先週始めて朝顔が咲きました。これは3日前に咲いたやつ。
And my morning glory bloomed last week. This one is from three days ago.

日本の朝顔よりも二回りくらい小さい気がする。でもまだまだ咲きそうなので楽しみ🌸
The flowers are a lot smaller than Japanese kind, but I'm looking forward to see more of them. :)

救急治療室 Trip to ER

今日はウィリアムの就寝時間直前に大変なことが(*_*)
So an accident happened right before William's bedtime tonight.


ウィリアムが家の中を走り回っていて，よそ見をしていたのだと思うけど，固い壁の角にぶつかって頭を3.5センチほど切り出血。
William was running around the house and hit his head with the corner of the hard wall and cut his head about 1 1/2 inches. 

ということですぐに5分ほどのところにあるSt. Luke's hospitalの救急治療室へ。
So, off we went to ER at St. Luke's Meridian, which is like 5 minutes away.

めちゃくちゃ悲しい顔です（笑）でも自業自得です。
He is very very sad, but it's his fault!

ホチキスの芯みたいのでカチカチカチと3針。
He got three staples to close the cut.

少し元気になりました。
And he was a little happier.

治療後に先生からアイスをもらい車の中で食べながら帰りました。
After he got treated, he got a popsicle from the doctor. 🍦 He ate it in the car on the way home. :)

家に帰って寝る前に，まさかのトランポリン😱ありえない。。。
And before he went to bed, William jumped on the trampoline! Couldn't believe it.


とにかく，ケガがもっとひどくなくてよかったです。
Anyway, I'm glad he didn't get hurt worse.

活動の日とスペイン語レッスン Activity Days & Spanish Lesson

今日は「活動の日」の活動がありました。先週から子供たちが夏休みに入ったので，朝の10時から集まりました。今日は日記帳作り。市販のノートに色紙やシールなどで飾りつけたり，中に総大会や聖文からの引用を貼ったりしました。今月末までに少なくとも10日日記を付けるのが目標です。ウィリアムは活動の間お絵かきをしておとなしくしていました。
We had Activity Days today. Since kids are out of school, we had it at 10 in the morning. We made a journal/quote/Sunday book. The girls decorated the outside of a notebook with colored paper, stickers, etc. and glued some quotes from general conference and scriptures inside. They are to write a journal at least 10 days until the end of the month. While we did this activity, William was being a good boy, drawing pictures. :)

午後からはマリエラの家でスペイン語のレッスンがありました。ウィリアムが途中でつまらないと言い出したけれど，マリエラの子供たちに誘われて地下の部屋で陶器を作る粘土で遊んでもらって楽しくしていたようです。
In the afternoon, William and I went over to Mariela's house for a Spanish lesson. William got bored in the middle of the lesson, but Daniel, Mariela's son invited him to come play with him, his girl friend and Laura with pottery clay in the basement. So he went down the stairs and had a good time. :)

それにしても今日は暑くて37度まで上がり，昼間はウィリアムの自転車乗りに絶対行きたくないって思ったので，朝9時頃活動の日の活動に行く前に30分ほど自転車乗りについて行ってきました。その時点ですでに30度近くあったので少しの時間だけれど汗ばみましたよ。明日は少し涼しくなるようだけど，またウィリアム自転車乗りたがるんだろうなあ。
By the way, it was a hot day. I got up to 97. I didn't want to go out during the day, so I made William practice his balance bike earlier in the morning before we went to activity days. It was only 9 am when we left, but was already like 86. We were out for about 30 minutes but I was sweating. It looks like it's going to be cooler tomorrow, but I'm sure William wants to go out and ride his bike again. 

忙しい日 Busy Day

数日前からついにエアコンのスイッチをオンに。30度にもなるとさすがに暑いです。でも今日は昨日に比べて暑くなかったので過ごしやすかったかな。
I finally turned our AC on the other day. You need it when it gets over 90. But today was not as bad as yesterday and was actually nice to be out (in a shade, ha ha). 


今日は金曜だったので，午前中いつものようにスーパーに買い物に行きました。その前にホームデポに寄って，畑に植えるための野菜などの植木を買いに行きました。ちょっと前に植えたメロンなどいくつかのものはまだ寒かったせいと，虫に食われたりしてダメになってしまったので。
Since it was Friday, William and I went weekly grocery shopping in the morning. Before we went there, we stopped by at Home Depot to get some plants to plant in our garden to replace the ones that have died or haven't been doing well.


買い物から帰って来たら，ウィリアムが公園に行って遊びたいというので支度をして公園へ。一時間ほどそこの遊具で遊んだり，芝生を一緒に走り回ったりしました。
After we came home from the store, William wanted to go to the park and play, so we went to a park and played there for about an hour. 

家へ帰って昨日の夕飯のピザの残りを昼ご飯に食べて（わたしは朝も食べた），午後ウィリアムの好きなテレビ番組を見通しになる前にウィリアムに読書をさせました。図書館でやっている夏休みの読書プログラムに登録させて，毎日30分読ませることにしています。読んであげてもいいし，自分で読ませるようにしてもいいみたいけれど，昨日から始めて二日とも手伝ってあげながら本人に簡単な本を頑張って読んでもらいました。1か月毎日読むのが目標です。
We came home and had leftover pizza from last night for lunch. Then I made William read some books before he watched TV. I signed him up (and me too) for the library's summer reading program, and William is to read 30 minutes everyday for a month. He can now read easy books by himself. 

昨日の夕飯に作った3種類のピザ。サラミ＆マッシュルーム，マルゲリータ，韓国バーベキューソースを使ったチキン＆ネギピザ

3 different kinds of pizza from last night. Salami & mushrooms, margarita, and Korean BBQ pizza.

そしてこれ。。。いかにもおいしくなさそうなチョコバナナピザ。

だれも食べてくれませんでした（笑）

And, chocolate banana pizza. It looks awful but tasted okay. But nobody else but me ate it. lol

それから同じく図書館で主催している夏休みのプロジェクトがあって，夏の間に５つの違ったプロジェクトをやるんだけど，いろんなのがあって，昨日はセロリのプロジェクトをやって，今日は火山のプロジェクトをやりました。こういうちょっとした事があると毎日助かります。
I signed him up for the Library's Summer Fest where you do 5 different projects during the summer. We did a celery project yesterday and today we did a volcano project. Having something to do things like this each day helps a lot during the summer.

ウィリアムはここ最近バランスバイクにハマっていて，毎日のように乗っています。今日は初めて庭の外に出て乗ってみました。なんだか知らない間にこんなことできるようになったんだなあ～と思ったらちょっとしみじみしてしまいました。
William is into riding his balance bike lately and rides it everyday. Today was the first time he rode on the street. As I was filming him, I had a mixed feeling. I'm glad he is growing and learning to do many things, but at the same time I feel sad that he is not a little baby anymore. 

夕飯の後は裏庭で水風船で遊びました🎈ブライアンが投げた水風船が命中してズボンがビチョビチョになってしまった。
After dinner, we went out to the backyard and had a water balloon fight. My pants got so wet from the water balloon Brian thew at me. :(

今晩ウィリアムをブライアンが寝かしつけている間に，今朝買ってきた野菜たちを畑に植えました♪終わったのは夜9時半過ぎ。それでもこの明るさ。こっちの夏は朝は早くに明るくなって鳥がピーチくパーチクうるさいし，夜遅くまで明るいです。
While Brian was putting William to bed, I planted the plants I got this morning. It was after 9:30 when I finally finished it. It was still light. Here, it gets light really early in the morning and noisy birds wake me up, and it doesn't get dark until really late. 

メモリアル・デー Memorial Day

今日はメモリアルデーで月曜だけどブライアンも仕事休みでした。
It was Memorial Day today, and Brian was off work.

今年からボーイスカウトの人たちに祝日ごとにアメリカの国旗を立ててもらうことにしました。ウィリアムと記念写真📷
This year, we decided to have scouts put an American flag in our yard on holidays, and here is the picture of it with William. :)

午前中はブライアンと裏庭のフェンス沿いに広がり放題だったツタの葉を取り除ける作業をしました。結構頑張ったと思ったのに，全体の10分の1くらいしかできてない。夏いっぱいかかりそうです。
In the morning, Brian and I worked on pulling out some of the ivy vines that have been growing crazy in our backyard. After working so hard, we realized we had only pulled out probably 10 percent of the whole thing. It will probably take whole summer to get all of them out. 

ブライアンの叔父さん（ブライアンのお父さんの弟）がちょうどコロラド州から来ていたので，家族みんなで集まって夕方からバーベキューディナーをしました。
Uncle Mike (Brian's dad's younger brother) was in town, so we all got together and had BBQ for dinner. 

子供たちは食べ終わったら水風船で遊んでわいわいやってました。ウィリアム水風船大好きなんです。きっとまた近いうちにやらされるな～。
Kids had a blast, having water balloon fight afterwards. William loves it and I have a feeling we will have to do it soon. 

プリスクール卒業 Preschool Graduation

今日はウィリアムのプリスクール卒業式でした。
It was William's preschool graduation today.

最初にこの一年で学んだことをみんなで発表して，プリスクールでのハイライトをまとめたビデオを見ました。
First the kids showed us what they had learned for the last 9 months. Then we watched a video that had highlights from preschool.

それから卒業証書をもらって。。。
Then, each kid received a diploma.

William's grandparents came from Caldwell. Thank you, Kathi and Steve!

卒業式の後はみんなで公園へ行ってパーティー。昨日作ったカップケーキもほぼ完食♪
After the ceremony, we all went to a Sycamore park nearby and had a party. Those cupcakes I made yesterday were almost all gone. :)

この9か月でウィリアムだいぶ成長しました。教えてくれたジェニー先生に感謝です。
William learned a lot in the last 9 months. Thank you Miss Jennie for teaching him!

バランスバイク Balance Bike

今日はウィリアム久しぶりにバランスバイクに乗ると言って裏庭に出て乗りました。🚴明日プリスクールの卒業式だからやる気上がってるのかな？笑
William all the sudden decided he wanted to ride on a balanced bike for the first time in months! He must be so excited about his preschool graduation tomorrow. lol

ところで，その卒業式のパーティー用にカップケーキを24個持っていく予定になっていて，作りました！12個は卒業帽の形。どちらもめんどくさくて疲れたけれどなかなかかわいくできてよかった（＾＾）
Speaking of graduation, I'm supposed to bring 24 cupcakes for the party tomorrow. so I did. 12 of them have a graduation cap. I found them on pinterest, so just had to make it. :)
