メリクリ＆あけおめ！ Merry Christmas＆Happy New Year!

少し遅いけれどメリークリスマス！＆あけおめ～！（すでに日本は新年を迎えました！）2007年はあっという間に過ぎちゃった。2008年はわたしにとってもみんなにとっても、もっともっとすばらしい年になりますように！写真はクリスマスのときに仕事で子供たちのためのクリスマス会で作ったジンジャーブレッドハウス。グラハムクラッカーが日本では輸入品でとても高いので変わりにココナッツサブレを使って作りました。フロスティングもないので作らなくてはならなくて苦労したけれど楽しかったです。

新年の写真はまたそのうち。それでは今年もはりきっていこう！

Belated Merry Christmas! And, Happy New Year!! (It's already a new year here in Japan! Whahoo!) The year 2007 passed so quickly. I hope this year will be even a better one for us all. The picture is a ginger bread house I made at a Chrismas party for kids at work. Since we don't have graham crackers and fronsting here, we used different Japanese crackers called Coconut Sabre, and I made frosting instead. I had much fun making the house with the kids.

I should upload some pictures of the new year celebration here sometime soon. Well, let's make this year a great year!!

かぎ針編み Crochet

なんとなんと意外にもわたしは編み物が好き！かぎも棒もやるけど、今年の冬の第一号はかぎ針編みでドイリーを作りました。本を見てやるといつも曲がってしまったりして上手くいかないので、結局は自分で適当にやってます。第一号にしてはまあまあかな。

Surprisingly, I love knitting and crocheting(spell?)! This is the first item I made for this winter. I always try to follow instructions on the book, but things never turn out right, so I always end up crocheting without instructions. It takes time to make a doily without instructions, but this one isn't so bad as the first one I made, is it?

タコライスパーティ Taco Rice Party

昨日高校のときの友達と集まってタコライスを食べました。久しぶりで超うま！友達の子とタコライスの写真だけど、「なんやこれ、むっちゃくさっ！」って鼻つまんでるわけじゃないよ～。めちゃうまでみんなでおかわりしまくりました。

My friends from high school and I got together and had taco rice yesterday. It had been a long time since I had Mexican food, so it was so yummy yummy to my tummy! We all liked it so very much and couldn't stop eating! The picture is my friend's daughter and taco rice. She's not saying "What in the world! This thing smells!" It just turned to be that way; the taco rice was really good!

ハッピーハロウィーン！ Happy Halloween!

今日はハロウィーンでした。今日は特に何もしなかったけれど、先週子供たちのクラスでハローウィンレッスンをして、コスチュームをつけてレッスンしました。trick or treating もやってとても楽しかったです。

It was Halloween today. I did nothing special today, but we had Halloween lessons for kids classes last week, so I had much fun with putting costumes on and trick or treating with the kids.

兄弟姉弟5人ともにニューヨークの名門ジュリアード音楽学院で学んだあのザ・ファイブ・ブラウンズのサインをゲットしました！9月13日に静岡でコンサートがあって（わたしは行けなかったのだけれど）、そのときに知り合いの方が何枚か色紙にサインしてもらったものの一枚をくれました。ラッキーです。

A member of the same stake gave me an autograph of "The 5 Browns", the famous siblings who all studied piano at Julliard school in New York. There was their concert in Shizuoka on September 13th. I couldn't go to it, but the member went, got some autographs, and gave me one of them. How lucky I am!

昨日はわたしの誕生日で、学校の生徒さんとマネージャーから別々にだけどなぜか同じゴディバのチョコレートをもらったよ。いつも安物のチョコレートばっかりだから、なんか食べるのにちゅうちょしちゃったよ。でも食べ始めたらチョコボールのようにポイポイ口にほおり込んであっという間に終了～！おいしかったよ。でも自分じゃきっともう買わないね。庶民のわたしにはやっぱチョコは安くてうまいロッテのガーナチョコレートがいちばんよ。

It was my birthday yesterday, and my manager and one of my students each gave me some chocolates. They bought the chocolate separately, but somehow both of them were GODIVA chocolates. I don't usually eat expensive chocolates, so I first hesitated to eat, but as soon as I started eating, I just kept throwing them into my mouth, and soon, they were all gone! They were so good, but I won't buy them myself. I think I like Lotte Ghana chocolate the best.

わたしの生徒 My student

前に教えていた生徒さんで（静岡の英会話学校で教えています）、６月からワーキングホリデーでオーストラリアに行っていた方が一時帰国して学校を訪問してくれました。たったの４ヶ月なのに、わたしが教えていたときよりもずっと英語が上達していて感動！

This is one of the students I used to teach. Oh, I don't think I have mentioned before that I have been teaching at an English conversation school in Shizuoka city. This former student of mine went to Australia in June for a working holiday, and just returned for a short period of time, and came to visit school. His English has gotten way better than it used to be which made me so pleased.

誕生日 My birthday

今日はわたしの誕生日でした！といいたいところだけれど本当は１０日です（旧体育の日）。でも１０日は平日で仕事の帰りが遅いので祝日（体育の日）の今日家族でお祝いしました。プレゼントは特に欲しいものもなくて期待していなかったのに洋服だの靴下だのいろいろもらって嬉しかったです。

内田家の習慣は、誕生日には一人当たり２個ずつの違った種類のケーキ・デザートを買ってきて、まず誕生日の人が好きなものを無条件で選べるの。それでもって残りのみんながじゃんけんで勝った人から好きなものを選べるわけ。で、二個目のケーキは誕生日の人も含めてじゃんけんして勝った人から好きなのを選べる。ちなみにわたしはじゃんけんでビリでした。けどみんな好みが違うから、負けても自分の好きなのが残ることもあるんだ。わたしは二つとも大好きなココナッツマンゴープリンとクレープのケーキでした。（＾ｐ＾）

I want to say it was my birthday today, but it wasn't. My birthday is in two days (10th) and used to be a national holiday in Japan until several years ago. Since my birthday this year is on a weekday and I won't get home from work until late, I had a little birthday party with my family tonight. I wasn't really expecting anything since I didn't really have anything I wanted, but I got some clothes and socks and more which made me happy. :-D

My family's tradition is to buy different pieces of cakes/desserts (2pieces per person) on a family memeber's birthday, and the birthday person can choose a cake/dessert she/he wants first, and the rest of the family members fight for the piece they want by rock paper and scissors. Then, for the 2nd piece, all of the family members have to play rock paper and scissors. By the way, I was the last one to choose for the 2nd piece this year, but I ended up getting the one I wanted since everyone has different taste and nobody wanted what I wanted. I got a coconut mango pudding and crape cake. \(^o^)/

今年最後のセミ The last cicada of the year

この間までめちゃくちゃ暑かったと思ったら急に寒くなって、我が家ではコタツを出そうか出すまいかと会議が行われています。昨日はあまりに寒くてヒーターをつけていました。今日（月曜）は仕事が休みで、今日から郵政民営化した郵便局に行こうと外に出たら、足元にあぶらゼミがひっくり返っていました。死んでるかと思ったら生きていたので手にとって写真を撮ってみました。おそらくこれがわたしがお目にかかる今年最後のセミじゃないかな。

Up until last week or so, it had been so very hot here, but It has cooled down quite a bit. It rained and was so cold yesterday that my family even decided to turn on the heater for a little while. Summer is over! I found a cicada this afternoon in the backyard. I thought this would probably be the last one I get to see for the year, so I took a picture of it. Isn't she cute?

オオスカシバ Cephonodes hylas

すごいっしょ、これ！先週東京神殿に行ったときに神殿の近くで見つけました！蛾のようだけどとても大きくてカラフルで、クマゼミのような透明な羽で、しかも横からみたら鳥みたいな顔してたわけよ。何だと思う？調べたら、蛾でした。オオスカシバっていうやつ。普通の蛾は苦手だけど、これはなんか愛着持てる感じじゃない？

Isn't this amazing? I found it near Tokyo temple last week. It looked like a moth, but it was very big and colorful. It had transparent wings like Cryptotympana fucialis (a kind of cicadas), and when I looked at it from the side, the face was like a bird! I looked it up on internet, and found out that it was one of the moths named Cephonodes hylas. I hate moths, but this one is kind of cute, don't you think?

阿部さんが辞任！ Prime Minister Abe resigning!

あ～びっくり！あんなに辞めないって言ってた阿部さんが急にやめるっって言うからさぁ。もうおとといの話になっちゃったけれど、職場の外で号外が配られていたので外にちょっと出たときにゲットしてみました。次は誰になるんだろうねえ。

The news surprised many of Japanese since the Prime Minister Abe had kept saying he would not resign. I have no clue who our next Prime Minister would be.

昆虫が好きじゃないあなた！そんなあなたでも知ってるはず。そう、カマキリを。しかーし！ただのカマキリではありません。カマキリのミイラなのです。さっき部屋のカーテンを閉めようとしたら、「あ～、カマキリだぁ。」と昆虫好きのわたしは捕まえようとしたところ、「あれ、何か変？」とつんつんしてみたらミイラだったよぉ。たぶんカーテンのとこに足が挟まって抜けなくなってそのまま今年の猛暑の中ひからびたのだろ～ね。お気の毒。んでもって、ミイラのカマキリなんて発見した人なんていないと思って写真撮ったのであります。実物はもうゴミ箱に捨てちゃった。でもさ、ミイラになってたってことは相当前からそこにいたってことだよねえ。毎日カーテン閉めてて気づかなかったわたしは一体…
Do you love insects? Even if you don't, you know about praying mantis right? I found it on the curtain in my room tonight. I love insects, so I tried to catch it, and realized something was wrong with the praying mantis. I touched it, but it didn't move at all... it was the mummy! I guess the front leg? (how do you call it? the part looks like a sickle) was caught by the curtain, and unfortunately became a mummy. Poor thing. I wonder how long it had been there. I can't believe I didn't realize it was there until tonight.

14周年記念日 14 Year Mark

今日（２９日）は、なんとバプテスマを受けてから１４年の記念日でした。もう１４年…早いな～。どーりで歳とるわけ。小さいころから何をやっても長続きしなくてダメ人間だったけれど、教会だけはまだ続いてる。自分にとってはある意味すごい。こんなわたしでも続けられるくらい人をひきつけちゃう教会ってすごい！まさしく真実の教会だね～。写真はわたしとバプテスマを施してくれた宣教師のタッド・クレッグ長老（アイダホ州アイダホフォールズ出身）。

I was baptized into the church 14 years ago today(August 29th it is!). Wahooo!! I never could continue things for a long time as I was growing up, but amazingly I have been going to the church for a very long time. I have to admit that the church is true! The picture is me with Elder Todd Clegg from Idaho who baptized me.

最近のわたし Recent Picture

そうそう、最近のわたしを見たことのないあなた！一番最近の写真です。２７日の日曜日に静岡ステークのSAの集会があってそのときに撮ったものです。さてわたしはどこにいるでしょう？小さくてあまりよくわからないかもね～。でもそれ以外に最近撮った写真はないのですとよ～。今（今の今）は、また写真とちょっと違う。今朝前髪がどーうしてもうっとうしくて、ジョキジョキ切ってしまったので、なんか前髪が増えた。そしていつものことだけれどちょっと後悔。。。気がむいたらその写真も撮ってアップします。

So, Many of you haven't seen me for EVER!! This is the recent picture of me. It was taken at a Shizuoka stake SA meeting this past Sunday. Can you find me? May be it's too small...but I don't have any other recent pictures for now. I actually look a litle different from the picture b/c my bangs was bugging me this morning, so I grabbed scissors and started chopping my bangs (some of you may know how I do this often). Aaaand as always, I regretted I did. If I feel like it, I will take the picture of myself with the new look and upload it sometime.

ブログデビュ～ Blog Debut

こんにちは！毎日こつこつっていうのが苦手な私がとうとうブログデビュー！しかもデジカメもないから写真もろくにアップできないのに…古い携帯のカメラ使うしかないけどまあ仕方ない、始めてしまったからには続けなければ。いや、そのまま放置する手もある。いや、でもそれじゃあ根性ないやつって思われちゃうから。→実際根性ないんだけど、まあ見ててください、どんなもんか。

それにしてもまだまだ暑い！そんなときには炭酸をぐびぐびっといくのが大好きなわたし。最近おいしいと思ったやつはファンタのトロピカルマンゴー味（上の写真）。マンゴー好きのわたしにとってはなかなかのものでした。まだ試してない人は飲んでみてね～。

Hello all!! Blog debut, finally!! Whahooooo!! Actually, I'm not good with this type of things, so let's see how this will go. I don't even have a degital camera, so I can't even upload photos (I can use my cell phone's camera, but it's not so good). Anyways, I will do my best to keep this updated.

BTW, it's still super hot & humid here in Japan. When it's hot, we should drink a lot of water, but I tend to drink soda instead. I LOVE soda. I know it's not so good for you, but I can't stop drinking. Recently I found a new soda flavor at a convenience store. It's a tropical mango flavor (the picture is above). If you love mangos, you will love this one.
