夕飯がんばった！ Did My Best in Cooking Dinner

いつもは一品とサラダとかしか作らないけれど，今日は3品！まあ他の家庭では普通だろうけど，自分にしては出来栄えはともかく頑張った。

I normally cook one main dish and salad, but today cooked three things. Good job to myself!

りんごはApple! Apples has to be in English!

ウィリアムの話す言葉の中で，英語でなければならないものと日本語でなければならないものがあります。例えばブライアンのことは絶対に「お父さん」とは言わないでdaddyだし，わたしのことは絶対に「かあさん」でmommyとは言いません。りんごは絶対にappleで，あひるも絶対にducky。サルやサイ，カバは英語だけど，ゾウやイヌ，ネコは日本語。色は紫以外は日本語で，紫はpurple。どうやって英語で言うか日本語で言うか決めているのかなあ。単に言いにくいからっていうわけでもないような。不思議です。

William says certain words only in English or in Japanese. He never calls Brian "Otosan"(dad), but "daddy", and never calls me "mommy" but "ka-san"(mom). Apple is always in English, so is ducky. For animals, monkey, rhino, hippo, etc. are in English, but elephant, dog, cat are in Japanese. For colors, he says everything in Japanese except purple. I want to know how he decides which language to use. It doesn't seem like it depends on how easy/difficult the words are to say in Japanese/English. Very interesting.

新しいおもちゃ New Toy

もう日が変わってしまったけれど，これは4日の投稿分。

最近ウィリアムが一人で遊んでくれず，仕事がまったくはかどらないし，一日中休みなく相手をするのも気疲れしてしまうので，昨日，半年早い誕生日プレゼントとして機関車トーマスの木製レールとウィリアムの大好きなパーシー（トーマスの親友の機関車）をプレゼントしました。それで今日から一人で遊んでくれると思いきや，考えが甘かった！いちいちすること成すことを教えてくれるのはいいんだけれど，それにちゃんと見て応えないとわめいて，応えてもひたすら続けて話してくるので，このおもちゃを買ってあげる前よりもひどいことに。気が狂いそうでした。明日も長い一日になりそう。。。

Lately, I haven't been able to do much at all during the day other than taking care of William because he wants me to play with me and respond to what he says each time he says something. And he does that all day! I feel like I'm going crazy sometimes. So, Brian and I decided to get him an early birthday present - Thomas the tank engine tracks and Percy, one of the engine, hoping he would play by himself without interrupting me much. Guess what, it did not work! He was so excited about this new toys and had to tell me all about whatever he was doing, and I had to be responding to every time he said something! I couldn't just respond, but actually look at whatever he was talking about. Giving him this new toy made things worse. It's going to be a long day again tomorrow.

全然話は変わって，昼間とても疲れてウィリアムの布団で横になっていたのだけれど，途中目を覚ましたら，ウィリアムがドアのところに立っていて，ふと見ると手に小さな包丁を持っていてびっくり仰天！眠気が一気になくなりました。もうカウンターに手が届いてしまうから，気を付けないと。。。けがなどなくてほんとよかった。

This is totally different subject, but I was lying down on William's futon mattress this afternoon because I was super tired. I woke up at one point and found William standing by the door and couldn't believe what I saw. He had a small knife in his hand! I guess he grabbed the knife that was sitting on the counter in the kitchen. I need to be more careful from now on. Glad he didn't get hurt.

ところで今晩は麻婆豆腐。ほんとうはほかの物にしようと思っていたのだけれど，疲れていてめんどうくさかったので，簡単に済ませました。明日はどんな日になることやら。。。

We had Mabo Tofu for dinner tonight. I was thinking of cooking something else, but was just too tired to cook. This was easy enough. Hope tomorrow will be a better day.

ウィリアム2歳半 William 2 1/2 Year-Old

3月1日でウィリアムは2歳と6か月になりました（8月29日生まれで，2月は29日がなかったので）。よそではまったくしゃべらないけど，家ではものすごくしゃべります！たくさんいろんなことを学んでいていろんな言葉を言うようになりました。自分のためにちょっとここに記録しておくことにします。

William is 2 and a half now. He talks a lot when he's home, but says nothing in front of other people. He has been learning so many things and says many words. For my records, I'll write some down.

ひな祭り Girl's Day

今日はひな祭り。うちには女の子はいないけど，今晩教会の「活動の日」のためにひな祭りについて少し紹介する時間があって，お雛様を皆で作ったりする時間はなかったけれど，前もって作っておいた雛飾りをみんなにあげて，あと三色ゼリーならぬ2色ゼリーを作ったのと，あられを持って行きました。中にはひな祭りのことを少し知っていて，着物を着てきてくれた子もいてうれしかったです。

Today was Girl's Day. I don't have girls, but there was Activity Days tonight (the church activity for girls ages 8-11) and I was to introduce a little bit about Girl's Day. I made this paper decoration for them to display at home, and brought some jello mousse thing and rice crackers. The girls seemed to enjoy learning about it. One of the girls who knew a little about Girl's Day came in her kimono and that made me happy.

ペンネアラビアータ Penne Arrabiata

今日の夕飯はペンネアラビアータ。去年たくさんもらったローマトマトを瓶詰しておいたものを使って作りました。ピリッとしていてとてもおいしかった～。隣のはチキンのトマトハーブ焼きです。

I cooked Penne Arrabiata for dinner tonight using the tomatoes that I canned last summer. It was spicy and yummy! The one next to the pasta is herbed chicken. 

ボイシ神殿 Boise Temple

今日の教会は地区カンファレンスで十二使徒のL・トム・ペリー長老と，七十人のブレント・H・ニールソン長老と，中央若い女性会長会顧問のニール・F・マリオット姉妹が話されました。良い集会だったけれど，途中ウィリアムがぐずり出したので集中して話を聞くのが難しかったです。

今日はブライアンが教会に残って書記の仕事をする必要がなかったので，午後から天気もよかったし，3人でボイシ神殿に行ってきました。ウィリアムは神殿が大好きで，昨日もCostcoに買い物に行ったときに神殿のそばを通っただけで寄らなかったのですごい怒って泣きわめいていました。だから今日行ってきました。もっと人がたくさんいるかと思ったけれど数人いるだけで，敷地内は貸切状態。ウィリアム走りまくってました。

We had regional conference today. Elder L. Tom Perry of the Twelve, Elder Brent H. Nielson of the Seventy, and Sister Neill F. Marriott, Second counselor in the Young Women General Presidency spoke through satellite. It was a great meeting except I had a hard time focusing on talks with William being antsy.

Since it was such a nice day and Brian didn't have to stay at church to do clerk jobs after church today because of the conference, we went out to the temple grounds and let William play for a while. He loves temples. Yesterday as we went to Costco, we saw the temple since it's very close, but of course we didn't stop by, just saw it. Then William threw a fit like no other. So, that's one of the reasons we took him to the temple today. There was hardly anyone there, so William was running around and had a blast.
