幼稚園で学んでること Things William learns in Kindergarten

ウィリアムの学校は月曜日から木曜日までの週4日です。毎週木曜日になると，その週に学んだものを家に持って帰ってきます。
William goes to school 4 day a week, from Monday to Thursday. Every Thursday, he brings back home all his work for the week.


今週はI（アイ）の文字を勉強したようです。
This week, he learned the letter I. 

間違ってるとこもあります（笑）

Not quite right. lol

それから理科のクラスではリンゴについて学んだ様子。
And they had a science class and learned about apples.

予測が外れたようです（笑）

He guessed wrong. lol

週2回音楽のクラスとスペイン語のクラスも交互にあります。
They have music and Spanish every other day.

一か所間違った色のところがあるけど分かるかな

There is one crayon that is colored with a wrong color. Can you tell?

来週は1週間秋休みで幼稚園ありません。でも宿題を持って帰ってきました。
Next week is a fall break and William has no school, but he brought home homework.


これ。
This is it.

中はこんな感じ。30ページ以上あります。必須ではないけれど，できるだけやって再来週提出するようになってます。何かご褒美がもらえるらしいです。どこまでできるかなぁ。
This is how it looks like inside, and there are more than 30 pages to work on. This home work isn't mandatory, but kids are supposed to work on it as much as they can and turn in when they go back to school. The teacher said there's something for the kids when they bring back the homework. I wonder how much William can finish.

乗馬 Horse Riding

今日は教会の8歳から11歳までの女の子たちの「活動の日」の活動がありました。
We had Activity Days today for Primary girls from 8-11 years old.

今日の活動は乗馬🐎 馬についていろいろ学びました。砂地に体をこすりつけるのが好きだって知ってましたか？
Today's activity was horse riding. We learned many things about horses. Did you know they like to roll their bodies on the sand?

いつもよりも早い時間に行ったのでブライアンがまだ仕事でウィリアムを一緒に連れて行かなければならなかったのだけど，ウィリアムも馬に触ったり実際に乗せてもらうこともできて良い時間となりました。
We had it an hour earlier than usual, so Brian wasn't home yet and I had to take William with me, but William got to touch and ride horses and had a great time.

小さいお馬さんと大きいお馬さん両方乗せてもらいました。

He rode on both big one and small one. :)

病気 Getting Sick

最近急に寒くなり，家族みんなでちょっと風邪引きそうな感じだったけど，なんとか大丈夫そうって思っていたら，今日ウィリアムがダウン。先日から鼻が詰まってる感じなのに加えて夕べから咳が出るようになって，今日は微熱。夕飯も食べずに寝てしまいました。
It's gotten super cold all of the sudden. We each had some signs of getting sick, but it seemed like we would be all right. But this afternoon, William started coughing and having fever. He must have felt sick because he didn't even eat anything for dinner and went to bed.

ちなみにブライアンとわたしは夕飯に大好きなスマッシュバーガー💖このところ翻訳の仕事で忙しすぎて今日は夕飯作れないかもしれなかったので買ってきてもらいました。いつ食べてもおいしい🍔
Brian and I had our favorite Smash burger for dinner. I have been busy with my translation jobs and wasn't sure if I would have time to cook dinner, so Brian went to get dinner for us. Smash burger never disappoints us!

ところで今朝の気温は2度😱昨日暦のうえでは秋の始まりだったのに完全冬です。
By the way, it got down to about 35 degrees this morning. It was the first day of fall yesterday, but it's totally winter to me!


これは昨日の元気なウィリアムの写真。昨日まで4日ほど続けて雨だったのでテントを組み立てて家の中で遊びました。
This is William from yesterday. It rained for 4 days until yesterday, so we built a tent and played in the house.

スイスチャード Swiss Chard

今年畑にスイスチャードっていう野菜を初めて植えたのだけど，いつ収穫するかとか，どうやって食べるかも全然わかんなくてずーっとほっぽらかしにしてました。
So, we planted Swiss chard in our garden for the first time this year. I didn't know when and how to eat and stuff, so I just didn't do anything about it until today.

なぜか今朝収穫気分になって，全部畑から採ってきたらこんなに💦💦💦💦いろんな色があって綺麗✨✨
I went out to the garden in the rain this morning and somehow I decided to pick all the Swiss chard. There was a lot more than enough, but aren't they so beautiful with all the colors? 💖

知り合い3人にもあげて，夕飯の肉団子のスープにもたくさん投入したけどまだまだ残ってる～。食べた感じはほうれん草みたい。癖がなくてさっぱりしていてどんな料理にも合いそうです。
I gave some to 3 of my friends and used quite a bit for the soup I made for dinner, but there is still a lot left. They taste kind of like spinach. It doesn't have strong flavor and can probably be used for many things: stir fry, soup, salad, etc.

今晩はこのスイスチャードのスープとかつ丼。かつ丼は作るのめんどくさいけどいつ食べてもうまい！
So dinner tonight was the Swiss chard soup and Katsudon. It's a lot of work to make katsudon, but it's so good and totally worth the effort.

キルト作り Quilting

今日は土曜日。午前中ブライアンにウィリアムを見ててもらい，教会の人道支援活動に参加してキルト作りをしてきました。
It was Saturday today, and there was a stake RS humanitarian event in the morning. I asked Brian to watch William and I went to the event to make quilts.

出来上がったキルトはロナルドマクドナルドハウスに寄付されます。
The quilts will be donated to the Donald McDonald House.


今晩の夕飯は今年最後のシシカバブのバーベキュー🍖やっぱり最高においしい♡
We had the last shishkebab for the year tonight (just because we are out of lamb). It was super yummy as usual. 

ウィリアムは食べないので果物のケバブ。

もうすぐバーベキューをするには寒過ぎる時期になってきます。今朝の気温はなんと5度！すでに暖房つけてます。秋を通り越して冬って感じです⛄まだ暦の上では秋にもなってないのにな。。。
It'll soon be too cold to have BBQ. It was 41 degrees this morning! It's not even officially fall, but feels like winter already! I already turned the heater on yesterday...

レゴ Lego

今日は昨日もらった消防車のレゴを作りました。これ5歳の子には一人では無理！大人のわたしもかなり疲れました。午後結構長い時間かけてず～っとやって，やっと完成。
William and I made a Lego firetruck he got for his birthday yesterday. It was a hard work! I even got tired after we did about half of it, so little kids definitely need adult's help.

先日カナダに住む日本人の友人にもらったレゴもあって，ウィリアムはそれも作るの楽しみにしています。レゴ子供たちはみんな大好きだよね。
William is excited to play with another Lego set he got last week from my friend who visited us from Canada. Kids just love Lego, don't they?

ウィリアムの誕生会 パート2 William's Birthday Party II

今日は2週間遅れでブライアンの家族とウィリアムの誕生会をしました🍰🎈🎁
We finally had a William's birthday party with Brian's family 2 weeks after his birthday.

コストコのでっかいチョコレートケーキでお祝い🎂
Celebrated with a huge chocolate cake from Costco.

プレゼントももらってよかったね～。でももうウィリアムの部屋に物の置き場がない💦💦💦
And he received many presents too. We have to find room for them. William's room is already full of stuff...

インド料理屋 Indian Restaurant

今日はブライアンと同じ職場で働く弁護士さんのビル（ウィリアム）と，ビルの家に一緒に住んでいる日本人の康弘君と一緒にインド料理屋さんへディナーに行きました。いつもこのメンバーで食べに行くときにはビルが払ってくれます。1年ちょっと前にタイ料理屋さんだったところがつぶれてできたそうだけれど全然知らなかった～。インドカレー大好きなのでうれしい♡食べ放題だったけれど，3皿お変わりに行って死にそうに苦しくて気持ち悪くなってしまった💦💦単品で注文したほうがちょうどいいくらいに食べれていいかも。ちなみに，ビルと康弘君はほぼ毎週土曜日このお店の食べ放題に来てるそうです(*_*)
We went to an Indian restaurant with Brian's co-worker Bill and a Japanese friend Yasu who lives with Bill (Bill always pays for us). I had no idea there was an Indian restaurant in town. Yasu told me it used to be a Thai restaurant, and it's been there for over a year. We ordered buffet, and after having 3 plates full of different curry and other stuff, I felt so sick! I should probably order one or two item off the menu next time, so I don't feel so sick when I leave the restaurant. Bill and Yasu told us that they come to this restaurant to have buffet almost every Saturday night. wow. 

ところで，レストランに行く前に，ウィリアムの5歳の記念の手形取りました。あんまりうまくできなかったけれど。
By the way, before we went to the restaurant, we got William's 5-year-old handprint. It didn't turn out that great, but oh well.

1歳のときのと比べると大きくなってるのが分かる💖まんまるした小さな手からもっと男の子の手に✋
But you can tell how much he has grown when we compare it with the one from when he turned one - from baby hand to boy hand.💖

お休み No School

ウィリアムの通っている学校は週4日で金曜日がお休みです。
William's schools is 4 days a week, so he doesn't have school on Fridays.


お休みの今日は，ウィリアムとやることリストを作って，一日かけてリストをこなしていきました。
Since he didn't have to go to school today, we made a to do list and spent all day working on the list.

まずはWinCo（スーパー）に買い物に行き，音楽のクラスの宿題をやって。。。
First we went grocery shopping at WinCo, and did William's music class homework.


それから「おさるのジョージ」のDVDを見て。。。
Then watched Curious George DVD...

クッキーを作って食べて。。。
and made cookies and had some.

それから本を読んで。。。
Then we read books...

ウィリアムの部屋にある段ボールの家の塗り絵をし。。。
and colored William's cardboard house...

最後にキャッチボールをしました。
and finally played catch.

そうこうしているうちにもう夕飯の時間。夕飯はピザ🍕🍕🍕最近はウィリアムは前に大好きだったサラミピザさえも食べないのでもうピザ作るの嫌になってきました。この好き嫌いの激しさなんとかならないのか？！
Then soon dinner time came. We had pizza tonight. William used to love salami pizza (that was the only kind he would eat), but now he doesn't want to eat it. So picky! I don't want to make pizza anymore. :(

レイバー・デー Labor Day

今日はレイバー・デー（勤労者の日）で祝日だったので，ウィリアムもブライアンも幼稚園とお仕事お休みでした。
It was Labor Day today, so there was no school or work for William and Brian.


アイダホ日本人協会のイベント「ジャパン・デー」があったので，午後1時間ちょっとダウンタウンまで行ってきました。屋内では太鼓や日本舞踊，獅子舞などのパフォーマンスがあったり，屋外では露店が出ていてヨーヨーやゴムボールすくい，輪投げ，千本引き（紐を引っ張るとお菓子がもらえる），タコ焼き，照り焼きチキン，かき氷などがありました。
There was an event called Japan Day hosted by Idaho Japanese Association, so we went to it in the afternoon. They had different performances like Japanese traditional dance, Taiko (Japanese drums), shishimai (lion dance), etc inside the building. And outside they had different booths; yoyo, bouncing ball scooping, ringtoss, takoyaki, teriyaki chicken, shaved ice, etc.

日本のお祭りとは比べ物にならないけれど，ちょっとでも日本の雰囲気を味わえるのはありがたいです。
Of course real matsuri (festival) in Japan is far better than this, but I'm grateful that we have the chance to feel a little bit of Japan here in Idaho.


そして今日のハイライトは，今晩，昔からお世話になっている教会の知り合いで現在カナダに住んでいる日本人の姉妹が，旦那さんと一緒にアメリカ旅行の途中で我が家に寄ってくれました💛最後に会ってからもう10何年ぶりでほんとにうれしかった～✨一緒にご飯を食べて楽しい時間を過ごしました。ウィリアムにお土産までもらって感謝です。もっともっと話していたかったです。またいつか会えるといいなあ。
And the highlight of the day was that one of the Japanese sisters I have known since even before I joined the church visited me from Canada. She and her husband are traveling in the US and they took time to stop by. We had dinner at our home and had a great time together. We hadn't seen each other at least 10 years and I really enjoyed their company. They brought some gifts for William too.💛 I wish we could have had more time, and hope we can see each other again sometime near future.

誕生日ディナー Birthday Dinner

少し遅れてウィリアムの誕生日ディナーに出かけてきました。ウィリアムの意向は全然無私してブライアンとわたしの行きたいところに行きました。
We went out for dinner to celebrate William's birthday. Since William hardly eat anything, we decided to go to where we wanted to go. 


ということでOutbackステーキハウスへ。🍖🍖🍖おいしいステーキをいただきました。ウィリアムはパンを食べただけでフライドポテトも全然食べませんでした。マクドナルドのじゃないからいやだって（－＿－；）
So, we went to Outback stake house. William only had some bread. He didn't even eat fries because they were not McDonald's!

お店のサービスで，誕生日祝いのアイスクリームをもらいました🍦こちらはちゃんと食べてました。笑　もっとなんでも食べてくれるようになるといいのになあ。
Since it was his birthday, William got a bowl of ice cream for free, and he did eat it. lol I wish he ate different kinds of food.
