水風船投げ Water Balloon Fight

今日は午後ウィリアムと庭で水風船投げをして遊びました。ウィリアムはやったことがなかったので、最初は水に濡れるなんて思ってなかったようでこの笑顔。
William and I had a water balloon fight this afternoon. William had never had it before, so he was smiling at first because he didn't know he was going to get wet! He he he.

水風船を投げ出してからは逃げまくり～。
After finding out how to play it, he started running away from me. :D

水風船命中！I aimed him well!

そのうち攻撃も。
But soon he learned to fight back!

結構ずぶ濡れに。
He got wet pretty good.

家に入ってから全身着替える羽目に。でも初の水風船投げとても楽しかったようでよかった。
He had to change his clothes, but he enjoyed his first water balloon fight. :)

そして今晩の夕飯はカレーライス。市販のルーを使わない手作りカレー。これが面倒くさいけどおいしいんです♪
And we had curry rice. Yum yum.

でもウィリアムは食べません！カレーの写真を撮っていたら、自分のも撮ってと言うのでパシャリ。食パンにチーズです。いつもこんなものばっかり食べています。

But William doesn't eat curry. He wanted me to take a picture of his food too, so here it is. Boring white bread and cheese! This is what he eats most of the time.

メモリアルデー(戦没者追悼記念日） Memorial Day

今日は祝日（メモリアルデー／戦没者追悼記念日）でした。ブライアンが仕事休みだったので、家族で買い物に行ったり、ハイキングに行ったり、バーベキューをしました。
It was Memorial Day today. Brian was off work, so we went shopping and hiking, and had BBQ.


午前中にショッピングに行ってバーベキュー用の炭を買い、その店で3日前になくした婚約指輪のとりあえずの代用品の偽物指輪をその近くにある別のお店で1200円くらいで買いました～。これまでも何度かなくしかけた指輪だったけど、とうとう本当になくなってしまったようです。5年弱でおさらば。。。よく物なくすから安い偽物指輪で十分かもな。
In the morning, we went shopping to get charcoal for BBQ. At the same store, I lost my engagement ring three days ago. I checked at the customer service today to see if they had found my ring, but they hadn't, so I gave up and went to a store nearby and got me a fake ring that cost like $12. I lose things all the time, so I think it's good enough for me to have a cheap fake ring. 

午後はハイキング兼バードウォッチング。ブライアンがバードウォッチング行きたいって言うので。ダウンタウンの方にあるハイキングコースに行きました。
In the afternoon, we went hiking/bird watching (Brian wanted to go bird watching). We went to a trail near downtown. 

ウィリアムも頑張って歩きました。
William walked pretty well.

おもちゃの双眼鏡で鳥の観察も（笑）
He watched birds with his binoculars. :)

夕飯は先日に引き続きバーベキューバーガー！今日はてりたまバーガー♪ちょっと照り焼きソースが煮詰まりすぎてしょっぱくなってしまったけれど。。。あとバンズをウィリアムに取られて自分だけ食パンで食べることに。お腹いっぱいになりました💛
We had BBQ burger for dinner again! But this time, Teriyaki egg burger! Teriyaki sauce I made was a bit salty, but it was good enough. There wasn't enough buns left, so I used regular white bread which tasted I think was better than buns. :)

そしてこれはおととい植えたときにもげてしまったバラ。花瓶にさしておいたら今日綺麗に咲きました♪香りもいいです。

This rose branch broke as we were planting the rose the other day, so we put it in a vase, and lo and behold, it bloomed today. It's so pretty and smells good too. :)

八宝菜もどき Stir Fry

いつも日曜はブライアンの家族と夕飯一緒に食べるのだけれど、ユタ州に住んでいるブライアンの弟夫婦に最近赤ちゃんが生まれて、ブライアンの家族は赤ちゃんを見にユタに行ってしまったので今晩は我が家で夕飯。冷蔵庫と冷凍庫にあったものを適当に入れて八宝菜もどき。まあまあってとこかな。ほんとうはウズラの卵とかきくらげとか入れて食べたいな。あるけど高いからなかなか買う気がしない。。。
Usually we have dinner with Brian's family in Caldwell on Sundays, but this week they were in Utah to meet baby Kate. She is a new baby girl to Daniel and Meagan (Brian's brother and his wife). So, we stayed home for dinner and had Stir fry. I threw in whatever things I could find in the fridge and freezer. It tasted okay. I wish we had quail eggs and cloud ear mushrooms. I guess I could buy them at Asian markets, but I'm too cheap to pay for them...

バラ Roses

今日は近隣のナンパ市まで家族でバラを買いに行ってきました。ボイシではバラがよく育つので多くの庭先でバラをよく見かけます。去年家を買ったときからバラを植えたいねと言っていたのですが、去年は前に植わっていた植木を引っこ抜いて裏庭に移動させるだけで終わってしまい、やっと今日バラを2本植えました。一つはAlways and Foeverという交配種の濃い赤色のバラで、もう一つはSt. Patrickという黄色のバラで淵が緑っぽい交配種のバラです。これから楽しみ♪隣にあともう2本植える予定です。
We went to buy some roses at a nursery in Nampa. Roses grow well in Boise, so I see them everywhere. We had been talking about planting some in our front yard since we purchased our home last year, but we had no room for them since there was a huge peony bush. So, in fall last year, we got the peony out and replanted in our back yard so that we had room for some roses. We got 2 rose plants; a deep red rose called Always and Forever (Hybrid tea), and yellow-greenish roses called St. Patrick (Hybrid tea). I can't wait them to bloom. We are planning on planting two more roses right next to them. 

バラを植える前に、お昼ご飯で腹ごしらえ。ブライアンは昨夜の残りのピザを食べ、わたしは先日の残りのパスタが大量に残っていたので無理やりナポリタンにして食べました。ナポリタンに見えないけど。。。今度はナポリタンの残りがたくさんになってしまった。
Before we planted the roses, we had lunch to give us some energy. Brian had leftover pizza from last night, and I cooked spaghetti Neapolitan using tons of leftover pasta from the other night. Now we have so much leftover spaghetti Neapolitan. :(

バラを頑張って植えたり庭の手入れをした後の夕飯はバーベキューバーガー！ブライアンがパテをバーベキューしてくれておいしくいただきました。今年初のスイカも甘くておいしかった～♪スイカはこれ一つ400円くらいでした。
After we worked hard planting the roses and working in the yard, we had BBQ burger for dinner. It was our first BBQ for the year. We had some watermelon too. It was so sweet and yummy! The best part is that it was only $4. :)

ピザ Pizza

今晩の夕飯はピザでした。一日何かと忙しくしていたのでピザを作るのがギリギリになったけれどなんとかできました。ちょっと形がいびつだけど。。。直径30センチちょっとのピザです。イタリアンソーセージとピーマンとマッシュルームが乗ってます。ピザソースも手作りです。
We had pizza for dinner tonight. I had a busy day going grocery shopping, and visiting people, etc., I had just enough time to make pizza before dinner. I couldn't make it a perfect circle, but it tasted good. It had some sausage, bell pepper, and mushrooms. I made pizza sauce from scratch too. It tastes much better than store bought sauce.

ところで、今日知り合いのお家の庭でサクランボ狩りをしていたときに、ウィリアムが何かに触ったらしく、その手で右目をこすったら、どんどんはれ上がって大変なことに。薬をつけて落ち着いたのだけど。
By the way, as William and I were at our friend's house picking cherries earlier, William touched something with his hand and he rubbed his right eye with the hand. Then the eye started to get swollen and itchy. I got freaked out, but after I put some cortisone around his eye, it got better.

結局もらってきたサクランボはまだすっぱくてわたしがほぼ一人で食べました。笑
Most of the cherries we came home with were still not ripe enough, and neither Brian nor William wanted, so I ate most of them. 

またまたメロンパン！ Melon Pan Again

最近ウィリアムを寝かしつけながらそのまま寝てしまいます。だから昼間のうちにブログを更新しておかないと同じ日に更新できなかったりします。
Lately, I have been falling asleep as I put William to bed, so I can't update my blog by the end of the day unless I do it earlier in the day.

ということで、これも昨日のことですが、またメロンパンを作りました！今回は別のパン生地レシピを使ってやってみました。クッキー生地を乗せるのも昨日よりも慣れてうまくいきました。（＾ｖ＾）いくつか人にあげてしまったのでもう2つしか残っていません。
So, this happened yesterday, but I baked melon pan again! This time I used a different bread dough recipe. And I was getting the hang of putting cookie dough on top of the bread dough, so all of the melon pan looked better than the last time. I gave away some so there are only two left.

ところで、昨日ウィリアムがやっと一週間続けておもらしせずにパンツでいれたということで（起きている間のみ）、これまでずっと（半年くらい）冷蔵庫の上に置いてあったトーマスのナップフォード駅をご褒美にもらうことができました☆本人大喜び♪これからもトイレ頑張ってほしいな～。
By the way, William was able to stay dry for a week (just during the week though)! So, he got Thomas' Knapford Station as a reward. It had been sitting on top of the fridge like 6 months! William was super excited. Hopefully he will continue to stay dry!


でも。。。これが見れなくなるのはさみしいな（笑）
I'm happy William is potty trained, but I'll miss this.↓↓↓

わたしのお気に入りの日本のオムツ。オムツを換えるお母さんにやさしい（笑）
My favorite mother friendly Japanese diaper. lol  When it gets wet, it will say "Thank you" to the person who will change the wet/dirty diaper. :)

メロンパン Melon Pan

今日はメロンパンが食べたい気分になったので買いに行き。。。と言いたいところですが売ってないのでしぶしぶ作りました。超ひさしぶりですごく面倒くさく感じたけれど、やっぱり出来立てはおいしい♪
I was craving for some melon pan, so I baked them. I wish I could just go buy them from the stores though. It had been a while since I baked them last, and it seemed too much work to make both bread and cookie doughs, but it was all worth it. They were so good!

お昼ごはんを食べた後にウィリアムと外に行くと、庭にヘビが。毎年庭で見るヘビと同じヘビだと思うから半年くらいぶりの再会。冬眠から覚めて日向ぼっこしていました。
William and I found a snake in our front yard this afternoon. I think it's the same snake we see every year. It has come out from hibernation and was getting a tan. :)

タコサラダ Taco Salad

今日の夕飯はタコサラダ♪シーフードのタコじゃなくてタコスですよ～。野菜が嫌いなわたしがもりもり食べれるメニューの一つです。
We had taco salad for dinner tonight. I don't like vegetables that much but with taco salad I can eat them and they taste good. :)

夕飯の後は月曜恒例の「家庭の夕べ」をしました。活動として裏庭でサッカーしたけど、ウィリアムは何度言ってもボールを手で触っちゃいけないってことが分かんないみたい。。。
After dinner, we had family home evening. As an activity, we played soccer in the backyard. William never gets he is not supposed to touch the ball with his hands. lol

グルテンフリーチョコレートトフィーロール Gluten Free Chocolate Toffee Roll

さて、昨日のグルテンフリーチョコレートトフィーロールの巻きあがりはこちら。意外とうまく巻けてホッ。

This is how the gluten free chocolate toffee roll looked like after I rolled it. Surprisingly, it turned out pretty good.

切ってみるとこんな感じでした。グルテンフリーデザートにしてはなかなかおいしかったです。

And it looked like this when it was cut. It was pretty good for a gluten free dessert.

ドアの修理 Fixing the Door

今日はこれまでずっと蝶番が緩んでいたウィリアムの部屋のドアを直しました。まずネジが入っていたゆるんだ穴に，木製の棒？とかゴルフのティーなどの先にボンドを付けたものをハンマーで打ち込んで穴をふさぎ，そこにネジを入れ直すという作業。
Brian and I finally fixed the door to William's room today. The top hinges had been loosed forever and the door wouldn't shut. First, we had to take all the screws out and got the door off. Then we had to hammer wood sticks or golf tees into those holes that had been widened, and put screws back in. 

ティーを入れるところ↑↑↑まではわたしがやって，残りはブライアンが担当。
I was in charge of putting the tees in, then Brian did the screw part. 

これまでちゃんと閉まらなかったドアが閉まるようになってスッキリ☆
I'm glad the door is fixed and it closes now!

ところで，これは明日恒例の日曜日の家族との夕飯に持って行くためのデザートの小麦粉を使わないグルテンフリーのチョコレートトフィーロールの生地の部分。ここまではなんとかできたけど果たして巻きがうまくいくか。。。続きは明日やります。
By the way, this is supposed to be a dessert to take to Sunday family dinner tomorrow. It's gluten free flour-less chocolate toffee roll. I just baked the cake part today. I'll see how I will do rolling part tomorrow...

サルサ Salsa

昨日はウィリアムを寝かしつけたまま寝てしまい，ブログを更新し忘れましたが，この間買ってたくさん余っているパクチーを使いたかったのでサルサを作りました。
I fell asleep as I put William to bed last night, so I couldn't update my blog. There was a ton of cilantro left from last week, so I decided to make salsa. 

夕飯はメキシコ料理のタマレ（市販のです）とチップスをサルサと一緒にいただきました。サルサはハラペーニョが入っているので辛かったけどおいしかった～♪
We had tamale (store bought) and chips & salsa for dinner. Salsa had jalapeno pepper, so it was a bit spicy, but was so yummy!

動物園 Zoo

今日は幼児学習準備プログラムのみんなでボイシ動物園へ遠足に行ってきました。朝雨が降っていて風もあったのでどうなるかと思ったけれど，雨も風もやんで無事に行くことができてよかったです。寒かったけど（－＿－；）
William and I went on a field trip to Boise zoo with ELR class today. When we woke up, it was raining and windy, but it stopped raining and being windy by the time we left the house, so that was good. It was cold though.

子供たちは動物を見てまあまあ喜んではいたけれど，一番喜んでいたのはやっぱりすべり台。日本でもアメリカでも子供はそんなもんよね。笑
Kids loved animals ok, but they really loved playing with slides. It was the same at the zoo in Japan. Kids are the same everywhere. lol

ジンジャーライムチキン Ginger Lime Chicken

今日は日本人の駐在さんのお友達の家に遊びに行ったけれど写真を撮り忘れてしまったので，しょうがないから今晩の夕飯の写真を。ジンジャーライムチキン♪これも大好きなメニューの一つです。結構準備に時間がかかるけれど絶品。

William and I went over to one of our Japanese friends' house this afternoon, but I forgot to take a picture, so I just have to post the picture of our dinner tonight. It's Ginger Lime Chicken, one of our favorites. It takes time to prepare, but it's so good!
