どぉしたん？！ What happened?!

去年ブルーベリーの木を庭に植えて、一年目にして20個以上の実がなりました。今年も楽しみにしていたところ、どぉしたん？！地面から一センチのところに一個なっただけ！なんで？食べたいけど食べたくない～・・・

I planted a blueberry tree in my backyard last year, and got more than twenty blueberries, so I was looking forward to this year's, but what happened to my blueberry?! There was only one just 1/2 inch above the ground. What was wrong? I want to eat it, but I'm kind of hesitant to eat...

中華まん Chinese Steamed Buns

わたしの伯父さんが、横浜中華街にある重慶飯店の中華まんを箱いっぱいに送ってきてくれました。めっちゃおいしい！3日連続で夕飯のときに食べて（ごはんプラスで！）、すでにみんな終わってしまいました！！

My uncle sent my family a box full of Chines steamed buns from the Chungking Chinese Szechwan Restaurant in Yokohama China town. They are sooo yummy!!! Oh, my family ate them three nights in a row (besides dinner!) and they are all gone already!!!

姉妹宣教師 Sister Missionaries

ヴェー姉妹とハント姉妹　Sisters Ve'e (from CA) and Hunt (from Utah)

今日は沼津で働いている姉妹宣教師のハント姉妹とヴェー姉妹と一緒に求道者の家にレッスンに行く機会がありました。その後で、家に来て「わたしの福音を宣べ伝えなさい」についていろいろ教わりました。宣教師といると、自分の宣教師時代を思い出したり、いつもとてもいい気持ちを感じます。

I had the opportunity to go to one of the investigators houses today with sister missionaries who are serving in my branch. After that, the sisters came over to my house and taught me how to effectively use "Preach My Gospel". When I'm with the missionaries, they remind me of the time of my mission, and always make me feel good.

イーガン兄弟 The Egan Brothers

もう数日前の話だけれど、ステーク大会第２日目に、以前沼津で伝道したイーガン長老がお兄さんと一緒に訪問してくれました。お兄さんも数年前に仙台で伝道したそうで二人で旅行に来ました。今回のステーク大会は、日本全国一斉に行われたブロードキャストのやつで、沼津支部と富士ワードは富士で一緒に見ました。イーガン長老は富士と沼津の両方で伝道したので、両方の会員に会えてちょうどよかったんじゃないかなあ。でもその日はものすごい雨でもう大変でした！

Well, this happened 3 days ago already, but one of the returned missionaries who served in Numazu before came to visit with his brother who also served his mission in Sendai a couple years ago. They came to the broadcast stake conference in which all the branches/wards in Japan participated in different areas. Members of Fuji ward and Numazu branch saw the broadcast in Fuji together. It was good for Elder Egan who served both in Numazu and Fuji because he got to see both members at the same time. By the say, it rained super hard all day long that day!!!

誕生会 Birthday Party

今日明日はステークカンファレンスで、今日の土曜の夜の部会の前に静岡ワードの若い女性の誕生会をするということで、わたしも参加させてもらいました。短い時間だったけれど、おにぎり、から揚げ、サラダ、ケーキとお腹いっぱいいただきました。みんなおいしかった～。誕生日の女の子（緑の服）はハッピーそうには見えないけれど、絶対に心の中では嬉しい思いであふれていたと思うよ！その後のステーク大会もとても霊的な良い会で参加してよかった～。

It's our stake conference today and tomorrow. We had a little birthday party for a young woman of Shizuoka ward before the Saturday evening session. We didn't have a whole lot of time, but had so much food; rice balls, deep fried chicken, salad, and cake. Yum yum.　The birthday girl (in green) doesn't look so happy, but I'm sure she was happy inside. ☆　The conference after the party was also good, very spiritual and uplifting. I'm glad that I went.

この夏一番 The First One of This Summer

今日庭で今年初めての蝉の穴を発見しました！よく見たら中に幼虫がいたんだけれど、ちょっと時期が早いからどうかなあと心配していたけれど、穴から出してみたらやっぱり未熟児だった。毎年早く出てきちゃうやつがいるんだよね～。

I found a larva of Cicadas in the back yard today. It's the first one I've found this year. Unfortunately, it was a premature one, so it will probably die before it becomes a cicada, sad. Every year, there are some larvae like this one that come out too soon.

嬉しい突然の訪問 A Surprise Visit

今日はなんと16年前にわたしが初めて福音を教わった長老が、家族で沼津の教会を訪問してくれて、久しぶりに再会しました。とても嬉しかったです。15年以上たった今も二人とも教会で活発に頑張っていてこのように再会できたことに感謝しています。

One of the first missionaries who taught me the gospel 16 years ago came to Numazu branch with his family today. It had been a long time since I saw him. I'm so very grateful that we could see each other again after a long time even both of us still living the gospel and being active in the church.

髪の毛切りました～！ I cut my own hair!

わたしのことをよくご存知のかたにとってはいつものことですが、また髪の毛を切りました。最近前髪がうっとおしくて限界だったので、ついに切ってしまいました。一応前髪伸ばしていたので、いつものごとく「あーあ」と少し後悔の念はあったけれど、いらいら感とかからは開放されて嬉しい。

This is a usual thing to those of you who know me well, yes, I cut my own hair again. My bangs had been bothering me and couldn't stant it anymore. I was trying to grow my bangs, so I regretted a little bit, but I feel much better now.

ちんすこう Chinsuko

友達のブログにちんすこうを作ったとあって、むしょうに食べたくなってわたしも作りました。黒糖を混ぜて黒糖ちんすこう。とってもおいしい！でもほとんどラードと砂糖で出来ているから、おっそろしいくらいのカロリーだと思うよ…

My friend had made Chinsukos (traditional sweets of Okinawa) and posted the picture on her blog. That looked so good which made me make some for myself. They turned out so yummy! But, I know how they are mostly made from lard and sugar, so it's scary to think how many calories they contain.
