今日は朝起きたらウィリアムがかわいいことを♪
When William got up this morning, he said something cute.

ウィリアム：今日はウィリー君いい子になるから。
わたし：それはすごくうれしいな～。
William: I'm going to be good today.
Me: I'm so glad to hear that.

と思いきや・・・
That made me happy for a second, but...

ウィリアム：でも明日はまたウィリー君やんちゃ坊主になるよ。でも大丈夫、ごめんなさいって言うからね。
わたし：ウィリアム、あやまればいいってもんじゃないから。。。
William: But I'm going to be naughty again tomorrow, but it's okay, I'm going to say I'm sorry.
Me: William, that's not how it works...


こんな感じで一日が始まりましたが、今日はまあまあいい子にしていてくれたのでホッ。今日もまたおもちゃの食べ物で遊び、ハサミで新聞の広告を切りまくって遊びました。
This is how the day started. William was pretty good today, so it was good. We played with toy food again, and cut up newspaper advertisements with scissors.

今日の夕飯は水餃子と春雨サラダ。おいしかったけれど食べすぎた～。
We had Chinese dumplings and spring bean vermicelli salad. I ate too much.

今日もウィリアムとの一日は長かった～。夕方になるにつれてウィリアムが駄々をこね始めて、こっちもくたくたになりました。ウィリアム、夜寝つきが悪いから昼間疲れているはずなのに、昼寝をしないから夕飯食べるころまでには疲れちゃっているんだよね。わかっているけど、駄々をこね続けられるとついキレてしまう。はぁ～っ。
It was a long day again with William. William doesn't sleep all that well at night, so he gets tired during the day, but he doesn't take a nap. :( So, by dinner time, he is so tired and whine big time. I know he is tired, but when he whines so much and doesn't listen to me, I just get so frustrated.

今晩はロールキャベツ。キャベツの玉がいつもより大きかったので、葉っぱが上手にむけていつもよりも巻きが上手にできました♪
We had rolled cabbage for dinner tonight. The cabbage I bought was pretty big, so it was a lot easier to peel the leaves off, and they were big leaves too. And I could roll them better than usual. :)

またお葬式 Funeral Again

今日は義母のいとこのリチャードの葬儀がありました。去年脳こうそくで倒れてから体調が悪化し、先週亡くなりました。リチャードのお父さんのリーは、数か月前に奥さんを亡くし、今回は息子を亡くし、去年は妹（ブライアンの祖母）を亡くし、ここのところ大変な状況にあります。リチャードについて、これまであまり良いことを聞いてなかったのですが、葬儀に参列して彼に対する考えが変わりました。人は見かけや聞いた話だけで裁くものではないと改めて思いました。
I attended a funeral of Richard, Kathi (my mother-in-law)'s cousin. Since he had a stroke last year, his health declined and he passed away last week. His Father, Lee, has lost three family members since last year - his Sister Gwen (Brian's grandmother), his wife Nancy, and his older son Richard. :( I had never really heard good things about Richard before, but as I attended the funeral service, my view shifted completely. Again, I learned not to judge others by the way people look or only from what I heard from other people. 


今日もウィリアムとの一日は長く、午後は何をしようかと思っていました。ウィリアムが食べ物で遊ぼうということで、遊び始めたときに、一緒に単語のつづりを教えようと思い付き、勉強も兼ねて遊ぶことができました。ウィリアムも楽しく遊んでくれて結構時間がさけたのでよかったです。
Everyday, I have a hard time in coming up with the idea of what to do with William. This afternoon, he wanted to play with toy food, so we started playing. Then I had a good idea of teaching him the spellings of the foods at the same time. I don't know if he learned anything, but he enjoyed it. 

そしてこれもやりました！今回はカラフルなフルーツループで♪
何度もやってました（＾ｖ＾）
And he wanted to do this again, but this time with colorful froot loops. :)
He did it over and over again.

それから今晩の夕飯は豚肉と野菜のマリネ。今日は暑かったので涼しい食べ物がぴったりでした。でも豚肉は揚げたので暑かったけどね。
And this was our dinner tonight. Marinade pork and vegetables. It was a perfect dish for the hot weather. I had to deep fry pork and it was hot though.

今日は月曜だったので夕飯の後は「家庭の夕べ」をしました。活動でサッカーをしました。ウィリアムなかなか上手にボールをけってました。
Since it was Monday, we had Family Home Evening. As an activity, we played soccer in the backyard. William did pretty good job kicking the ball. :)

キッチンエイド KitchenAid

今日は教会の知り合いからキッチンエイドをもらいました！
One of my church friends gave me this KitchenAid today!!

これでいろいろな生地を混ぜたり、付属品を取り換えて野菜などを切ったりしていろんなことができます。ずっとほしかったけれど、一番安いのでも2万5千円くらいはするので手が出ませんでした。ずっと使っていなかったということで結構掃除が大変だったけれどなんとかきれいにしました。これから活躍してもらいます！
This will help me mix dough (especially when you are making a big batch) and do all other kinds of things with so many different attachments! I had been wanting to buy one but couldn't afford it since it costs like $250 to buy the cheapest one. It was pretty dusty and dirty since my friend hadn't been using for a long time, but I cleaned it pretty well and it's ready to be used again.


今日の夕飯はまたバーベキュー。今週はチキン♪
And for dinner, we had BBQ chicken for dinner tonight. :)

大好きなイタリアンソーダと一緒にいただきました。
I had this Italian soda with dinner.

炭酸はめったに飲まないけれどこれはおいしい♪個人的にはオレンジ味のほうが好き。
 I don't normally drink soda, but this one is good. I personally like orange one better though.

洗車 Car wash

今日は朝ウィリアムのサッカー教室がありました。相変わらずまったくコーチの話を聞いていないようでしたが、それでもみんなの後に続いてなんとか頑張っていました。

William had a soccer class this morning. He wasn't paying attention to the coach at all as usual (sigh), but would kind of do whatever other kids were doing, and I say that was good enough.

サッカーの後は先週同様公園の遊具で遊びました。

After the soccer class, we went over to the playground area and played for a while.

 

そして今日のメインイベントは。。。洗車☆家に帰る途中に、今週無料で洗車をしている洗車場に行きました。我が家の車を所有してから初の洗車（笑）

And on the way home, we went to the car wash - the highlight of the day!! This place has been giving free car wash this week, so we went over there and had our car clean for the first time since we owned the car. lol

There were many cars since it was free.

無料ということでたくさんの車が。

ウィリアムも初の洗車体験を楽しみました♪

William enjoyed it too.

見にくいですが、車ピカピカになりました☆

It's hard to tell, but our car is now clean. :)

今日の午後はほとんどこれで遊びました。蒸気機関車ですが、新幹線に見立てて静岡駅に行ったり、東京駅に行ったりしました。ちなみにソファーは飛行機で日本やサンフランシスコに何度も行きました（笑）実際の旅もそんなにあっという間だったらいいんだけどね。

Most of the afternoon, we played with this train. It's supposed to be a steam engine, but William said it was shinkansen (Japanese bullet train). And our couch was an airplane. We went to San Francisco and Japan so many times, and came home within minutes. I wish it was that simple in real life.

それから夕方ブライアンの持っている大量の小銭を仕分けしていくらあるか数えることにしました。

In the late afternoon, William and I sorted all the change Brian had in the closet.

ウィリアムはペニー（1セント）担当。

William was in charge of pennies.

そしてこんな具合に（笑）

結果、全部で50ドル以上もありました！

And the total amount was over 50 dollars!

パッタイ Pad Thai

今日は午前中は教会の家庭訪問（何人かの姉妹を毎月訪問します）に行き、午後はスーパーに週に一度の買い出し。そして夕飯はパッタイと生春巻。パッタイはいつも二日分作るのだけど、めちゃくちゃ多い量作ってしまって大変なことになっているので、次こそは量を減らして作ること覚えておかないと。。。
I (and William) went visiting teaching this morning. My companion and I visited four sisters. In the afternoon, William and I went our weekly grocery shopping. For dinner I cooked Pad Thai and spring rolls. Usually I cook Pad Thai for two nights, but I always cook too much. Next time I hope I remember to cook less.

メキシコ料理教室 Mexican Cooking Lesson

週一くらいで教会の知り合いのメキシコ人にスペイン語を教えてもらっているのですが、今日行ったら突然サルサとタマレ（マサというトウモロコシの粉と肉をトウモロコシの葉で包んで蒸した料理）の作り方を教えてくれることになっていてびっくり。でもタマレ大好きで教わりたかったのでうれしい♪

しかもタマレは前もって作ってくれてあって、夕飯用にとお土産で持たせてくれました♪♪ 夕飯においしくいただきました☆
Mariela had cooked tamales ahead of time so I could take home for dinner!! They were so yummy!!

ガーデンパーティー Garden Party

今日は夜、教会の扶助協会（18歳以上の女性のグループ）の活動があり、年に一度のガーデンパーティーがありました。その名のとおり、ある教会員の方のお宅の庭で開かれ、ディナーあり、互いに持ち寄った物でオークションしたり（お金は使わずに、各自テーブルに置かれている質問用紙？に答えたポイントの合計数を使います）、毎年楽しみにしている活動の一つです。いつもはクッキーかパンかを焼いて行っていたけれど、今オーブンが不調でうまくできないので、餃子の作り方を教えるのを提供しました。
There was a Relief Society garden party tonight. We had it at one of the presidency's home. Each brought something we wanted to auction off, and bit whatever we wanted with the points we got from answering the questions on the sheet of paper (Each question had certain points you could get and we added them up to bit). I usually auction off some baking goods (cookies or breads), but since our oven is not working properly I decided to offer one time cooking class to make pot-stickers. 

そして。。。自分はアロエをゲット♪
And, I got a cute aloe in a pot. :)

昼間に時間を戻して。。。今日は図書館に読み聞かせの時間に久しぶりに行ってきました。蝶々についての本を何冊か読んだあと、実際にビーズで蝶々を作りました♪
Let's go back to this afternoon. I took William to the library's story time for the first time in a long time. They read a few books about butterflies, and made a cute butterfly with beads. 

ウィリアムはとても気に入ったようでこの蝶々と一緒に寝てました。笑
William loved it and went to bed with it. :)

それから手に押してもらった蝶々のスタンプもすごく気に入ったようで、手の甲を洗わないように手洗ってました。笑
He loved the butterfly stamps he got on his hand. He was trying not to wash that part whenever he had to wash his 
hands. lol

時間をさらに朝に戻して。。。今朝はめずらしくブライアンにお弁当を作りました。手抜きのそぼろ弁当ですが、見た目だけは愛情がこもっているように見えるでしょ💛
And going back further to this morning, I made lunch for Brian. It's a simple bento (lunch), but it at least looks like it was made with love, right? lol

室内遊び Indoor Fun

今日はウィリアムと何か楽しいことをして遊んであげようと思って、いつもよりちょっと頑張りました。
I wanted to do something fun for William today, so I was a little more creative than usual.

まず、チェリオーズを竹串に刺してどちらが早く上まで刺せるか競い、
First, we competed to see who can put Cheerios through skewers faster.

もちろんウィリアムに勝たせてあげました。
And of course I let William win. :)

その後は、刺したチェリオーズをおやつに食べてご満悦。明日もやると言ってます。
Then we ate the cheerios. William said he wants to play this again tomorrow.

それから今度はまたまた竹串を使って釣り竿を作って磁石魚釣り（笑）　これははまって何回もやりました。これも明日またやらされるかな。ちなみに夜も「家庭の昨夜」の活動として3人で遊びました。
After that, we made a fishing pole (again using a skewer), and fished magnets fish. :) William wanted to play this again and again. We even played it for FHE activity tonight. I might have to play it with him tomorrow again.

父の日 Father's Day

今年の父の日はお金がないので実の父には何も送れず～メールとスカイプだけで父の日おめでとう！とご挨拶（苦笑）　アメリカでは実の父以外にも、自分の夫（子供の父）や義父、すべての父親を祝う日です。なので我が家でもブライアンに父の日のお祝いをしました。チョコレートとメッセージカードのプレゼントをしました。
This year, I had no money to send a gift to my dad, so I just emailed him and said Happy Father's Day, ha ha. We also skyped too. It's better than nothing right? For my husband, I got a card and some chocolate.


ディナーはここ数年父の日にはステーキ。前の日からタレにつけておいて、バーベキューしました。おいしかった～♪（父の日は日曜日でブライアンの家族とのディナーだったので、これは土曜日の夕飯に食べました。）
For Father's Day dinner, we have had steaks for the last few years. I marinated the meat the day before and Brian barbecued it. Yum!

一人2枚食べました！ Each of us had two steaks. :)

デザートにはバナナクリームパイ。うちはメレンゲよりも生クリーム派なので、切り分けてからクリームを乗せます。
For dessert, I made banana cream pie. We like whipped cream better than meringue on top, and we put it after cutting the pie into pieces.

無口で不器用なところも多いブライアンだけど、いつも家族のために働いてくれて、ウィリアムの面倒も辛抱強く見てくれて感謝してます。
Brian is very quiet and sometimes hard to tell what he is thinking, but I'm grateful for Brian for working hard everyday to support us and taking care of William patiently. 

お葬式 Funeral

今日は教会の方のお葬式がありました。アリス・クレイグという93歳の女性です。彼女に会ったのは4年前の8月28日。あと数週間でウィリアムが生まれるんだという話をしていたら、なんとその晩に出産になってしまったという（苦笑）。アリスはいつも笑顔で親切に接してくれて、油絵やスケッチがとても上手だったり、何より強い証と信仰を持つ良い模範でした。自分の残りの人生を、彼女のように模範的な人生を送りたいと思いました。教会のお葬式は日本のような暗い悲しい雰囲気ではなくて、故人の生涯についての紹介があり、話をする人、音楽の発表、詩を読んだりと、あります。家族がまた永遠に住めるということを信じているから死に対する気持ちも違うんでしょうね。
There was a funeral service this morning for Alice Craig, one of the Sisters in the church. She was 93 years old. I met her on August 28th four years ago. I visited her with Jenny (a friend from the church) and was telling her how I was going to have William in a few weeks, but to our surprise, I had him that night. Anyway, Alice was always nice to me whenever I talked to her. She always seemed happy and smiling. She was a quite an artist (she did oil paintings and drawing). But above all, she had such a strong testimony and faith, and was a great example to everyone around her. I hope I will be able to live the rest of my life like the way she lived. 

サッカー教室第2回 Soccer Class #2

今日はサッカー教室2回目でした。前回に比べると一人で頑張ってやってくれたので少し安心しました。でも先生の言うことをまったく聞いてないのか分かんないのか、みんなと全然違うことをやってたり、指示を無視してることも多かったのでこっちは冷や汗。
William had a soccer class today for the 2nd time. He participated a lot more than last week, so I was happy about it. But he wasn't really listening to or not understanding the coach's instructions and was sometimes doing totally different things from other kids. :(

終わった後は同じ公園の遊具で少し遊びました。
After the soccer class, we played at the other side of the park where all the fun slides and slings were.

それから今週2度目のマック。いつもはこんなに頻繁に行かないけど、今日はサッカーを頑張ったので特別。
Then we stopped by McDonald's to get lunch on the way home. This was our 2nd time this week to go to McDonald's but I wanted to buy William some fries as a reward since he did a good job at the soccer class.

昨日の朝教会の年配の女性（93歳）が亡くなられて、明日お葬式になり、クッキーを2ダース持っていくことになりました。だから今日の午後はチョコチップクッキーとピーナツバタークッキーを作りました。
In the afternoon, I baked cookies (chocolate chips and peanut butter cookies) to take them to the funeral for Alice Craig, one of the sisters in the ward. She was 93. 

今晩の夕飯はクリームシチュー。朝は涼しかったけれど午後から暑くなったので、メニュー変更しようか迷ったけれど、ほかに何も浮かびませんでした。来週はまためちゃめちゃ暑くなるみたいから、もうシチューとかは無理だな～。
Our dinner tonight was Cream Stew. It was cool in the morning but it got hot in the afternoon, so I thought of changing the menu, but couldn't think of anything else to cook. It looks like it's going to be super hot next week, so I'm not planning on having any hot food.

それからこれは。。。「だいかちさん」だそうです。ふたで顔が隠れているとだいかちさんになります。なぜその名前かはまったくわかりません。
And this is Mr. Daikachi. Don't ask who he is or where the name came from because I absolutely have no idea.
