新年会 パート2 New Year Party #2

今日はブライアンの上司のところでホームステイしている日本人の友人と，その友人を通して知り合った友人と一緒に新年会をしました。我が家にこんなにたくさん人を呼んだのは初めてで，どうなるかと思ったけれど，無事に終わって一安心。おいしいごちそうを食べて，ゲーム（ジェンガとじじ・ばば抜き）をして，楽しい時間となりました。

We had a New Year party with some Japanese friends (and Brian and his boss) at our home today. We had never had this many people (yeah, 6 people is many), so I was worried how things would work out, but everything went well. We had a great time having good food and playing games (Jenga and Old Maid).

それでこれは今日の夕飯。ウィリアムが最近はまっているポニョ（一日何度も見ます！）の中でラーメンが出てきて，それを見ていたら食べたくなったので。

We had ramen for dinner tonight. William's recent favorite is Ponyo and he watches it many times a day. As we were watching it, it showed a scene with ramen, and I wanted to have some too.

電気ナイフ Electric Knife

今日ホームベーカリーでダブルチョコブレッドというのを焼いて，昨日買ってきた電気ナイフを使って切ってみました。すごくきれいに切れて感動！パンもとってもおいしくて感動♪

I used the electric knife I purchased yesterday to cut the Double Chocolate Bread I baked today with my new bread machine. The knife worked perfectly and the bread was super yummy!!

記念の日 Memorable Day

今日はウィリアムが初めて日本語で「かぁさ～ん」と言ってくれました！一度言い始めたら何度も繰り返して言ってくれてとてもうれしかったぁ。いやあ，頑張って日本語で話してきたかいあった，という感じ。

写真は全然違うけど，日本の友達がウィリアムにシールを送ってくれたのが今日届いて，ウィリアムが喜んでいるところ。

William called me "mommy" in Japanese for the first time today. Once he said it, he kept saying it many times and it made me so happy! I feel like my effort of talking to him in Japanese all this time has been rewarded.

The picture is when William received some stickers in mail today. One of my friends in Japan sent them for him. William was so excited.

新しい台所用品 New Kitchen Stuff

クリスマスにほしいと思っていた台所用品をたくさんもらいました。今日は（7日です。いつも夜中過ぎてからの投稿になっちゃう。。。）クリスマスプレゼントの一部だったギフトカードを使ってさらに欲しかった台所用品を買ってきました。それから，ほんとうはクリスマスにもらった電気ポットなのですが，組み立てがおかしくて（中国製！）返品し，新しいもの（日本製！）をオンラインで購入したものが今日届きました。これでほしいと思っていた台所用品がすべてそろった感じがします。（＾ｖ＾）ということは料理がんばらないとな。

I received a lot of kitchen stuff I wanted to have. Today (this post is for the 7th. I often update my blog after midnight, so it shows as the 8th one...), I went out to buy some more kitchen stuff with the gift card I got as a Christmas gift. And an electric water boiler arrived today. I got one for Christmas, but it was assemble badly (it was made in China), so I returned it to the store and had to order a new one (made in Japan ) online. Now that I have all the kitchen tools and stuff, I guess I should work on my cooking skills.

活動の日 Activity Days

もう日付が変わってしまいましたが，今晩教会の初等協会の8歳から11歳の子たちが集う，「活動の日」（日本語で正式に何と呼ばれているのか分かりません）がありました。毎月第1週と3週の火曜日の夜に，わたしの集うワードと同じ教会の建物を使っているもう一つのワードと合同で行います。今日はマグカップに油性ペンで絵などを描いて，オーブンで焼いて自分のマグカップを作る作業と，ホットココアを作って自分の好きなトッピングを付けて飲みました。また，次の2週間の目標を立てたりしました。

I went to a church activity called "Activity Days". It's for girls who are eight to eleven years old. We have the activity twice a month, first and third weeks on Tuesday evenings. We do it with Hampton ward (they share the church building with us) since we don't have many girls in Kimball ward. Tonight (well it's already last night...), girls drew on mugs with permanent markers and made their own mugs, and they had some hot chocolate with many different toppings. They also made some goals to work on for the next two weeks.

今回の写真を撮れなかったので，前回の活動の写真を載せます。ジェスチャーゲームをしているところです。みんな楽しんでました。

I didn't take any pictures tonight, but I'm posting some pictures from the last activity. We played Charades and girls loved it.

だるま Daruma

今日は家庭の夕べの活動で去年のだるまさんの二つ目の目玉に目を入れて，今年のだるまさんの片目に目を入れました。今年も一年家族みんなが健康で元気に無事に過ごせますように～。

ピザ Pizza

これは2日（金）の夕飯に作ったピザです（いつも食べ物の話ですいません，笑）。クリスマスプレゼントにパン生地とかを伸ばしたりするくっつかないシート（日本語で名前が分からないですが）とピザを焼く丸石と，ピザ生地を伸ばす用のローラーをもらったのでそれを使って作ってみました。今までいい感じに生地を丸く伸ばせなかったけど，超きれいにできて感動！ピザもおいしかった☆

This pizza was dinner from the 2nd. I know, I'm talking about food again, sorry. I got a non stick pastry sheet, a pizza baking stone and a roller, so I wanted to try those out. I was super excited when I could roll the dough into the perfect circle! And the pizza tasted great too!
