くるみ割り人形 Nutcracker

ウィリアムのひいおばあちゃん（ブライアンの母方のおばあちゃん）から，遅いクリスマスプレゼントをもらいました。くるみ割り人形の缶の中にお菓子が入っています。これは今晩ブライアンの家族と夕飯を一緒に食べるために集まったときのことだけど，帰りの車の中で，オルガン音楽のラジオをつけたら，最初にチャイコフスキーのくるみ割り人形の曲が話を合わせたように流れてきて，すごい偶然の一致で面白いなあと思いました。

We got this nutcracker from Brian's grandma (his mom's mom) as a late Christmas gift. It has some candies in it. We got this at the dinner with the family tonight, but what was funny about this is when we got in the car on the way back home, we turned on a radio station that plays organ music, and the first song it came on was Nutcracker! What a coincidence!

こちらはウィリアムのおばあちゃん（ブライアンのお母さん）のキャシー。ウィリアムとウィリアムのいとこ（ブライアンの妹コリーの二男）のエジソンを抱っこしているところ。エジソンはウィリアムより6週間早く生まれているけれど，見てのとおりすごく小さいんです。

This is Kathi, William's grandma (Brian's mom), holding William and his cousin Edison. Edison is 2nd son of Cori (Brian's younger sister) and was born 6 weeks before William, but looks a lot younger right?

バレンタインデー Valentine's Day

今日はバレンタインデーです。朝，みんなでプレゼントを渡し合いました。ウィリアムはブライアンから機関車トーマスの友達のヒロの木製のおもちゃと，新しいトーマスのDVDと，新しい本をもらっていました。わたしはブライアンにチョコレートをあげました。ブライアンからはもっと高価なチョコレートとクリーム色のきれいなバラをもらいました。

It was Valentine's Day today. In the morning, we gave presents to each other. William got a new Thomas the tank engine DVD, wooden Hiro (Thomas' friend), and a new Dr. Seuss' book. I gave Brian some chocolate. Brian gave me a lot more expensive chocolate and beautiful roses. 

それからバナナクリームパイも作ってみんなで食べました（ウィリアムは一口しか食べなかったけど）。

And I baked a banana cream pie, and we all enjoyed it (William only had one bite though). 

バレンタインの夕飯はビビンバ。韓国料理大好き！おいしかった～。今日はおいしいものをたくさん食べてとても幸せでした。笑

We had Bibimbap for dinner tonight. I love Korean food! So yum! I think when I get to eat so much of great food, I feel happiest. :)

ラッキーデー Lucky Day

今日はついてました！というのも，朝買い物に行って豚ひき肉を買おうとしたら，なんと値段が相当安く，間違って付いているのに気づきました。幾つもそういうものがあったので，お肉の担当の人に言ったら，わたしはその値段のままで持って行っていいよって言ってくれて，ほんとうなら7ドル以上もするのに2ドルちょいで買えました。主婦ならわかるこの喜び！最近節約を心掛けているのでとてもうれしかったです。

It was my lucky day! As I went grocery shopping this morning, I noticed quite a few packages of ground pork had a wrong price- a lot cheaper than they should have been. So, I told the store staff in the meat department and he told me that I could take the ground pork with the wrong price on. It would have cost more than $7, but I only paid a little over $2! Only house wives can understand this type of excitement! I have been trying to be frugal lately, so it totally made my day!

今日の午後は，明日バレンタインデーということで，近くに住む教会の友人たちにカップケーキを持って行くことにしました。アイシングがうまい具合に広がらず，微妙な出来になってしまったのだけれど。

Since tomorrow is Valentine's Day, I decided to bake and deliver some cupcakes to church friends who live close by. The icing didn't turn out well and it wouldn't spread on the cupcake well, so this is the best I could do.

今晩の夕飯には久しぶりにから揚げしました。チャーハンと。ウィリアムはチャーハンならパクパク食べてくれます。そのままでは食べないお肉や野菜や卵も食べてくれるのでチャーハン様々です。

We had Japanese style fried chicken and fried rice for dinner. William loves fried rice and that's a good thing because it has veggies, eggs, and meat which he doesn't eat by itself. 

神殿訪問 Temple Trip

今日は昼間ウィリアムとボイシ神殿の敷地に遊びに行きました。ウィリアムは神殿が大好きです。今晩はブライアンと神殿参入もしてきました。

William and I went to Boise temple ground today. William loves the temple. :) I went to the temple tonight with Brian too.

神殿の帰りに寄ったパーティーグッズを売っているお店にゴムのアヒルを買いに行きました。そこでウィリアムはただで風船をもらってすごい喜んでいたのに，家に帰ってきてちょっとしたら割れちゃった（というかウィリアムが割った）ので残念がってました。

William and I stopped by at a store that sells party goods to get some rubber ducky. William got a free balloon but it popped not long after we got home. He was so disappointed. 

ハッシュドビーフ Hashed Beef

これは昨日の夕飯のハッシュドビーフ（ハヤシライス）です。ちょっと盛り付け方が笑っちゃうけど，こうなっちゃいました。たま～に食べるとすごくおいしいって思います。玉ねぎ，牛肉，マッシュルームだけだから，ニンジンやジャガイモの皮向きもしなくていいので楽だし。

We had hashed beef for dinner last night. It looks kind of funny with the rice on top, but was yummy. I like how it doesn't require carrots and potatoes that I don't have to peel them.

それからこれは今日ブライアンが持って行ったお弁当。日本人の目から見たらしょぼい弁当ですが，これで自分は精一杯～。ないよりはいいでしょ。

This is Brian's lunch for today. It doesn't look fancy at all, but it is better than nothing, right? 

クッキー作り Baking Cookies

今日は隣の市に住む長泉から来ている日本人の友達の家にクッキー作りに行きました。かわいいアンパンマンのキャラクターのクッキーができました。ウィリアムと一か月違いの娘さんがいるので一緒に時々遊んでもらいます。ランチもいただいて，5時間近くと長居をしてしまいましたが楽しい時間となりました。4月の終わりで旦那さんの仕事（裾野のキャノンから2年駐在で来ている）の関係で日本に帰ってしまうのでさみしくなります。

William and I went to a Japanese friend's home today and baked cookies and had lunch together. She has a daughter who is a month younger than William, so it's nice to get together and let them play together sometimes. Her husband works for HP here but they will be going back to Japan at the end of April. We'll miss them.

ゴミ収集車 The Garbage Truck

毎週火曜日はゴミのトラックが来る日です。隔週でリサイクルするものを収集するトラックも来ますが今週はゴミだけ。火曜日はいろいろなことがある日です。地元の図書館で子供のための読み聞かせがあります。写真はないですが，久しぶりに今日行ってきました。何冊か本を読んでくれて，途中で歌ったり踊ったり，最後にはシャボン玉とおもちゃで遊んで終わります。

Every Tuesday, the garbage truck comes. Every other week, recycle truck comes, but this week was only for the garbage. On Tuesdays, there are other things going on too. There is a story time for the young kids at the local library and William and I went there this morning. We get to listen to the stories from a few books, sing & dance, and play with bubbles and toys at the end.

今晩は教会の扶助協会（女性のグループ）の活動もありました。緊急時の備えについていろいろ学びました。食糧貯蔵など，たくさん課題はあります。

I also had a Relief Society meeting to go to tonight. We learned about Emergency preparedness. I have a lot to do to prepare myself for emergencies.

それから，夜家に戻ってきて椅子に座ってふとわたしの大好きなホームベーカリーの表示を見て大ショック！日本製だと思っていたホームベーカリーが中国製だった～～～！

Oh and this has to be my journal entry. I was looking at the label on my wonderful bread machine, and was shocked! All this time, I thought this bread machine was made in Japan, but it was made in China! Well, what's not made in China today?
