今日は「活動の日」という教会の女の子たち（8歳から11歳まで）の活動をしました（よそのお宅で）。先週で学校も終わって夏休みに入ったので、いつもは夜やるところを昼間やりました。水風船や水鉄砲、プールなどで一時間ほどわいわい水遊びしました。
There was Activity Days today (it's the church activity for girls 8 to 11). Kids are out of school for summer already, so we had it during the day. We played with water - pool, water balloons, and water guns.
ウィリアムは、活動をやったお宅の子供（特に3男）が水鉄砲で水をかけようとしてくるのが怖くて、「おかあさん、くるまにもどってよ～！（泣）」と連呼してました（笑）これはわたしに向かって叫んでいるところ。大好きな水風船にさえも触らずじまいでした。
William was scared of getting hit by the water gun one of the kids of the house we had the activity at, and kept screaming saying "Mommy, let's go back to the car!" lol He is calling me in the picture. He didn't even tough his favorite water balloons while we were there.
なんとか一時間がんばって、家に帰ってきたら、水風船で遊びたいと。（おい、今更！）ということで水風船二人でやりました。
After we came home from the activity, William wanted to play with water balloons (of course...), so that's what we did.
今晩の夕飯は中華。チャーハンとエビチリと中華スープ。メインのはずのエビチリが超まずいっ！！レシピどおりにやったはずだけど超辛くてまいった。今度は別のレシピでリベンジしたいです。
I cooked Chinese food for dinner; fried rice, Chinese style soup, and shrimp chili. Shrimp was supposed to be a main dish and supposed to be good, but it turned out to be too spicy and was not good at all! I want to try a different recipe next time.
ちなみにこれはうちの庭でとれたニラ。ガーリックチャイブという種類でにおいは日本のニラとおんなじだけど、細くて小さくて全然違う～。一応中華スープに入れました。中華スープはおいしかったんです。

昨日も36度まで上がってとても暑かったですが、今週もずっと30度越えの様子。今日は最高気温が34度でしたが、水曜は38度まで上がるみたい。乾燥してるのが救いです。
The high was 97 yesterday, and it went up to 93 today. It looks like it's going to get over 100 on Wednesday. :( At least it's not humid here.
今日は写真を撮り忘れてしまったのですが、またまたメロンパンを焼きました。今日はチョコチップメロンパンと、レーズン入りメロンパン♪わたしはレーズン好きだけど、ブライアンとウィリアムが嫌いなのでなかなかレーズンの入ったものは作れません。でもウィリアムはちょっとレーズンのやつ食べたらおいしいと言ってパクパク食べたので、メロンパンに入っていればいいのかも。レーズンのメロンパンちょこよりさっぱりしてておいしかった～♪
I failed to take a picture, but I baked melon pan again. Today, I baked chocolate chip melon pan and raisin melon pan. Brian and William don't like raisins, so I can't often put raisins in anything, but I love them and wanted to put raisins for mine. Raisin one was so good!

ところでウィリアムが歌っているところをやっとビデオに撮れました。親ばかながら、なかなか歌うまいと思う♪

今日は日曜日なので（日が変わってしまいましたが）、ブライアンの実家に夕飯を食べに行きました。わたしはいつものとおり、パンとデザート担当。パンはホームベーカリーに任せて、デザートは何を作ろうか迷って、デザートでないようだけど、メロンパンを作りました。今回はチョコチップを入れてチョコチップメロンパン♪クッキー生地にチョコチップを入れるのがうまくいくか分からなかったので、パン生地の方にチョコチップを入れました。おいしかったです♪なぜかパン生地を10等分にするつもりが11等分にしてしまい、一つだけクッキー生地なしで焼く羽目に。それはそれでおいしかったけど。
Since it was Sunday we went to Brian's parents' for dinner tonight. I was to bring bread and dessert as usual. I normally have my bread machine make bread, and this time I baked melon pan for dessert. It's more like bread, so to make it more like a dessert, I put chocolate chips in the bread dough. Can't go wrong with chocolate right? :) Somehow I divided the bread dough into 11 pieces instead of 10, so I had to bake it without the cookie dough on top. It was yummy itself though.

今日はとても暑く33度まで上がりました。でも明日は36度まで上がるみたいです（－＿－；）
It was really hot today. The high was 91 degrees, but it's supposed to get 97 tomorrow, so it was nothing compared to that. Ugh.
今日は土曜日だったし夏だし、またバーベキューしました。今回はバーベキューチキンです。チキンを前もってマリネの液に浸しておいて、バーベキューします。これがおいしい♪あとトウモロコシも醤油をつけてバーベキュー。おいしい～♪
It's summer and Saturday, so we had to have a BBQ again. This time we barbecued chicken. You marinade chicken in this yummy Hawaiian marinade sauce and it tastes so good!
夕飯の後は、ずーっと切りたかったウィリアムの髪を切りました！すっきり♪
After dinner, I finally was able to cut William's hair! He looks much better!
ウィリアムが先週に引き続き、今週もおもらしせずに一週間頑張れたということで、ブライアンがウィリアムにトーマスの線路の追加分を買ってくれました。箱を開けるのが待ち遠しかったウィリアム。これでもっとたくさん線路をつなげられます♪
William stayed dry for another week, so Brian bought him more train tracks. William couldn't wait to open the box! :)
今日の夕飯は頑張りました！暑いので冷たい天ぷらそば♪こっちに来て初めてちゃんとしたエビの天ぷらしました（笑）白身魚とピーマンの天ぷらも添えて。いつもケチってたので、かき揚げとか安上がりなものばかりだったけど、やっぱエビはおいしかった～♪
It was another hot day, so I cooked tempura soba (buckwheat noodles) for dinner. Since shrimps are kinda expensive, I had never bought large shrimps, but oh my, they were so good!
昼間アメリカのラムネみたいお菓子を食べて舌が真っ青になってしまったウィリアム。着色料こわい～。
William's tongue got blue after he had sweetarts. So much food coloring in this country. :(
今日はウィリアムと同い年の息子さんがいる駐在のお友達の家にメロンパンを作りに行ってきました♪
William and I went to our Japanese friend's house to bake melon pan today.
子供たちがメロンパンが焼けるのを見ている姿がかわいい～。
Kids were waiting for the melon pan in front of the oven. So cute. :)
二回焼いて一回目はバニラを入れて焼いてお昼ごはんとしていただきました。おいしい～(#^.^#)
We baked two batches and had them for lunch. They were yummy!
二回目は、先日オンラインでゲットしたメロンオイルを使ってみました。ちょっと日本にあるメロンオイルとは香りが違うとは分かっていたのですが、実際食べてみると、ほんとまずい！ハニーデューメロン（緑色の）のオイルではやっぱり駄目でした～。家に帰ってきたときに、近所にいた子供たちに（まずいと知らずに）ほとんどあげてしまったので、よかった（笑）彼らはおいしそうに食べてました。。。
For the second batch, we put melon oil (honey dew oil) to give melon flavor, but it was different from the melon oil we use in Japan. So the melon pan actually tasted terrible! Good thing I gave most of them away to my neighbor kids. lol
家に帰ってきたらもう夕方4時半近く。夕飯はまたピザ。十分あると思っていたコリアンバーベキューソースが全然足りなくて、4分の3は普通のピザソース。今回はお店のやつで手抜きです。鶏肉と玉ねぎとマッシュルームを乗せました。まあまあの味でした。いつもまあまあ以上にできないんだよね。。。
By the time we got home, it was almost 4:30 pm. I decided to make pizza for dinner again. I was going to make Korean BBQ pizza and thought there was enough Korean BBQ sauce, but there was enough to cover only 1/4 of the pizza. So I had to use regular pizza sauce (from the store this time) for the rest. For the topping, I put chicken, onions, and mushrooms. The pizza tasted okay, but I can never seem to make a great pizza.
今日はとても暑い日で、まだ6月始まったばかりだというのに32度まで上がりました。でも乾燥しているので日陰にいればそんなに暑くはありません。
It was a hot day. It's still the first day of June and the high was 90 degree! But unlike Japan, it's very dry here so as long as you are in shade or inside, it's not bad.
天気が良いので先日植えたバラがこんなにきれいに咲きました。

今日もウィリアムは水風船で遊びたいというので頑張りました、母。今日は最初から水風船をたくさん作って外に持っていって遊べるようにしました。まず30個作り。。。
William wanted to play with water balloons again today, so we went outside and played. Today, I blew up a bunch of water balloons ahead of time so we could just keep throwing them. I made 30 of them to begin with, and...
今日も走って逃げて、攻撃。
We ran, tried not to get hit, and attacked.
でも、ものの数分で終わってしまいました。
But the water balloon were gone within a few minutes. :(
もちろんウィリアムにもっと作ってとせがまれて、仕方なくあと10個作り、これで終わりだよと念を押したのですが。。。またせがまれてあと6個追加しました（明日遊ぶ分を残したかったので中途半端な数なんです）。
Of course William whined and wanted to play more, so I made 10 more and told him that was it. But of course 10 balloons were gone right away and William whined, and I made 6 more, leaving 35 balloons for tomorrow.
終わった後は水風船の残骸のお片付け。今日も楽しかったです。明日もきっと遊ぶんだろうなあ。。。
After that, we picked up the dead balloons. We had a good time again today. We will most likely play with water balloons again tomorrow.
ところで今日は火曜日。毎週火曜日はごみ収集車がごみを集めに来ます。
By the way, the garbage truck come every Tuesday.
家の前にごみ箱を置いておくと、それを持ち上げてトラックにダンプする仕組みになっています。隣の家のごみ箱が持ち上がっているの見えますか？
It's fascinating for Japanese people to see the truck lift up the trash bins and dump stuff.
なぜごみ収集車の話をしたかと言うと、うちの裏に会社の事務所があり、そこに火曜日の朝4時ころにごみ収集車が来て、アパートや企業とか用のものすごい大きい鉄？のごみ箱を持ち上げて、これまた大きい音で落として行くので、ほぼ毎週その音で目が覚めてしまいます。だから火曜日はいつもよりもさらに寝不足。ちょっと愚痴ってみたかっただけです。
Why I tell you about the garbage truck? Well, there are office building behind our house, and the garbage truck comes to dump their garbage bins (the huge metal ones that are normally used for the apartments and companies) 4 am every Tuesday! It's super noisy and almost always it wakes me up (and everyone else too). So, I'm more tired on Tuesdays. I just wanted to complain...
