今日は夜ブライアンが，仕事帰りにおばあちゃんのアパートの家具を移動する手伝いにそのまま行ったので，ウィリアムと二人で過ごしました。近くの小学校の遊び場に行って遊具で遊ぶことにしました。ウィリアムはすべり台の下から上に上がるのが面白くて何度もやってました。上まで行けるのに何度もわざと滑り落ちてました。笑
Brian went down to Caldwell after work this evening to help out with moving the furniture from his grandma's apartment, so William and I were the only ones home and we decided to go to the playground of Horizon elementary school. William wanted to climb up the slide from the bottom and slide down before he reached the top. He could climb up all the way to the top but it was more fun for him to slide down on its way on purpose. :)
最近８０歳のブライアンの母方のおばあちゃん（キャシーのお母さん）の体調が悪化し，しばらくいたリハビリセンターから病院に行って検査をしたところ，腹部全体に多くの腫瘍（進行性の遅いもので１０年くらいあった可能性がある）と頭にも腫瘍が見つかりました。でもどうにもできないようで，病院からまたリハビリセンターに戻ってホスピスケアを受けています。あとどのくらい持つか分かりません。数週間前は全然元気だったのに人の命ははかないものです。
Brian's grandma (Brian's mom's mother) has been at a rehab center under hospice care. Until few weeks ago she was doing ok, but all the sudden her health went down. She was sent to the hospital and the doctor found a tumor in her brain and many tumors all over her stomach. I guess they are slow growing cancer she might have had for 10 years (can you believe it!?), and they are one of the reasons she is not doing well. Now she is back in the rehab center and under hospice care. We don't know how long she can last, but not long for sure...sad.
ということでユタに住んでいるブライアンの弟ダニエルの家族が昨日からおばあちゃんに会いに来ました。今日は家族で集まってブライアンの妹コリーの家で食事を一緒にしました。ウィリアムはいとこやメイリー（ブライアンの中国人の養子の妹。ウィリアムのおばさんにあたる）たちと遊べておおはしゃぎ。いつも近くにいて遊べたらいいのだけれどね～。
Brian's brother Daniel's family drove up here from Utah yesterday to see the grandma, so the family got together this afternoon and had meal (early dinner) together. William was so excited to play with his cousins and his aunt MeiLi. I wish we all lived close.
ところで昨日はブライアンの両親の結婚４０周年記念日。マイカが作ってくれたケーキでお祝い。ブライアンとわたしはギフトカードをプレゼントしました。
It was my in-law's 40th anniversary. Micah (Cori's husband) made a cake for them and we sang the anniversary song (with the same melody as the birthday song). Brian and I gave them an outback gift card.

今日は友達のお誘いでペパーミントパークという公園で午前中遊んできました。ここのところとても暑い日が続いていて今日もかなり暑かったですが，ウィリアムは公園で遊べて大喜び。ウィリアムが一緒に遊べる友達ができてうれしいのと同時に，誘ってくれた友達の友達が他にも数人それぞれの子供たちと一緒に来て，自分も新しい人と知り合うこともできてうれしかったです。
My friend Maren invited William and I for a play date at a Peppermint Park this morning. It was another hot day today, but William really enjoyed playing at the park with other kids. I was glad too that I could meet new people (Maren's friends).
今晩の夕飯は冷やし中華。友達のかっちゃんが先日ポートランドで会ったときに日本からのお土産でくれたラ王の冷やし中華（乾麺だけど生麺みたい！）を作って食べました。おいしかったぁ～♪かっちゃんありがとー！
We had cold noodle for dinner tonight. My friend Katsue gave some when I saw her in Portland. She brought it all the way from Japan. Thank you Katsue! It was yummy!
今晩日本人のお友達（碧ちゃん）のベビーシャワーがありました。双子の男の子をもうじき出産予定です。ということで午前中はそのプレゼントの買い出しで忙しくしていました。プレゼントには赤ちゃん用のバスタオルや小さいタオルと，おむつでおむつケーキを作ることにしました。おむつケーキ今回はちゃんとセロハンで包装もしてなかなか見栄えがよく仕上がりました（遠くからは，笑）。よろこんでもらえてうれしかったです。
There was a baby shower for one of my Japanese friends (Midori Morley). She is expecting twin boys soon! So, I was busy this morning trying to shop for the gifts. I got some bath towels and wash cloth, and decided to make a diaper cake. This time I even wrapped it with cellophane wrapper. Doesn't it look awesome?! Well, from far distance...
ベビーシャワーは近くの公園でやったのですが，ウィリアムは公園の遊具で遊べてとても喜んでました。帰るのを渋っていましたが寝る時間になったのでなんとか説得して連れて帰ってきました。
The shower was at a park nearby. William was excited to play at the playground. He didn't want to go home but I had to make him since it was close to his bed time.
ところで今日は，友達の家を探していた２０代の女の子が間違って家に入ってきてびっくり！しかもその友達が中に入ってきていいと言っていたようでノックもドアベルもなしで入ってきていて，わたしがおむつケーキを包んでいるときに後ろから突然声がして一瞬固まりました。今日多分偶然ドアの鍵を閉め忘れていたと思うのだけれど，用心しなくてはと思いました。危ない人ではなくてよかったです。面白いのが，ここ数日ウィリアムが「人がお家に来ちゃう」というようなことを頻繁に言っていたのでちょっと気味悪いなあと思っていたら，こんなことが起こって，ウィリアムもしかしてこうなるって分かっていたのか？？
By the way, a stranger (a girl in her 20s) came into the house today without knocking or ringing the door bell. I was trying to wrap the diaper cake when I heard from behind the girl's voice asking for her friend. Apparently she was trying to visit her friend whose house had the same number as ours, and the friend had told her to just come into the house. Accidentally our house door was unlocked when she came so she just came right in. I'm glad she wasn't a burglar or some bad person, but I have to remember to lock the door all the time! The interesting thing is that William had been saying the last few days that someone would come into the house, and this happened. Did he know this would happen??
今日庭の紫陽花にお水をやりに行ったら，小さなヘビを見つけて思わず捕獲。ウィリアムに見せて写真を撮ってすぐに逃がしてあげましたが。このくらいの小さいやつだと結構かわいい。
I found a baby snake as I went out to water my hydrangea this morning. I let it go after I showed it to William and took a picture of it. Snakes are kind of cute when they are tiny like this. :)
ポートランド旅行の投稿がなかなかできていませんでしたが，ようやく3日目の投稿です。
7月30日（木）は，沼津からちょうど旦那さんの実家に帰省している日本人の友達（かっちゃん）と一緒にシルバーフォールズ州立公園に行ってきました。１０つの滝があるのですが，ウィリアムもいたし，３つだけしか見れませんでした。でもどれもとても綺麗でした。滝までのハイキングは日影が多くてとても涼しかったです。とても暑い日だったのでとても気持ちがよかったです。かっちゃんの旦那さんのネイサンには，かっちゃんを迎えにShilo Innに来たときに二人の写真を撮らせてもらいました。
I have been able to post on Portland trip, so here it is. Day 3 (Thursday, July 30th).
We went to Silver Falls State Park. My friend Katsue who has been visiting her husband's family in Portland came with us. There were ten waterfalls but since it requires much hiking to go see all of them (and we had William), we could only see three of them, but all of them were so beautiful. The last picture is of Katsue and her husband Nathan, when he came to pick her up at where we were staying.
夜はかっちゃんから教えてもらっていたSushi Landという回転寿司のお店に食べに行きました。ボイシの回転寿司と全然違って活気があってネタも豊富！しかも結構安い！結構いっぱい食べたけれど二人でドリンク付きでも２７ドルくらいでした。ポートランド住みたい！笑
We went to a conveyor belt sushi restaurant for dinner which Katsue had told me about. The place was just terrific! There were so many people that we had to wait for a while, but it was worth waiting! There were so many different kinds of seafood available unlike sushi restaurants in Boise and they were pretty fresh and reasonable! I thought we ate a lot but we only spent like 27 dollars including drinks! I'd love to live in Portland! lol
今日は教会の「活動の日」（8-11歳の女の子のための活動）の活動で，現在建設中のメリディアン神殿（となりの町で15分くらい）の建設現場にツアーに行ってきました。と言っても現場近くには立ち入りできないので，近くのプレハブ内のオフィスで神殿建設についてのいろんなこと（どのように建設されるか，使われている素材となぜそれが使われるかその訳など）を学びました。お土産には完成した神殿の写真の載ったカードと現場を掘り起こした時の小石を記念でいただきました。なかなかこういう機会はないので貴重な体験ができてよかったです。ウィリアムにとっても良い思い出になります。
We had an Activity Days today for the first time since school was out. We visited Meridian temple site which has been under construction. It was neat that we could learn how the temple are being built, what kind of materials are used and why, etc. We got to take home a rock from the site and a card that had the picture of completed Meridian temple. It was a great experience for me and also for William who loves the temple.
その後は公園へ移動してサンドイッチを作って果物やチップスなども食べながらのランチをして，公園のすべり台などで遊びました。ウィリアムはチップスだけしか食べず，すべり台で遊んだけれど，15分くらいしかなかったから遊び足りず，家に帰ってきてから近くの小学校まで行って遊具で遊ぶ羽目になりました。今週はとても暑いので汗だくだくになってしまいました。
After we left the temple, we went to a park to have lunch and play at the playground. We had some sandwich, grapes, carrots, chips, etc. William only had chips and wanted to play at playground. We only had like 15 minutes to play so it wasn't enough for William and he kept whining even after we got home, so I had to take him to the elementary school playground nearby. It was such a hot day and I got sweaty like no other.
神殿の建設現場でも車の中でも公園でもアローラちゃんという10歳の女の子がウィリアムのめんどうを良く見てくれたので助かりました。ウィリアムもとても楽しそうにしていました。
Throughout the activity this morning, a girl named Elora took care of William so well. William just loved spending time with her.
