誕生日 My Birthday

もうとっくに過ぎちゃったけれど、10月10日はわたしの誕生日でした。職場では、何人かの人たちが食べ物を持ち寄ってくれてランチの時間に誕生日パーティーをしました。ちょうど次の日が誕生日の兄弟がいて、二人分一緒にお祝いしました。家では、両親がながーいロールケーキを買ってくれてあって（写真参照）、みんなでおいしく食べてお祝いしました。それから姉妹宣教師たちが家にきてくれてケーキとカードを持ってきてくれてバースデーソングも歌ってくれました。よい誕生日でした。

It was my birthday on the 10th. At work, some co-workers brought some food, and we had a small birthday party during the lunch break. It was for me and another guy whose birthday was the day after mine. When I went home, my family had bought me a long roll cake (see pic), so we ate it together and celebrated my birthday. And, sister missionaries came over and gave me a little cake and card, and sang a birthday song for me. It was a nice day.

昨日27日は、教会で前の転勤で沼津に来たカナダ出身のスパイダル長老と、ユタ州出身のウィング姉妹の歓迎会をしました。ウィング姉妹がビーンちゃん（グリーニー）なので、食べ物を全部緑でそろえました！緑のカレー、ご飯、ゼリー、お菓子、ケーキ、飲み物、そして、私たちのほとんどが緑の物を身に付けていました～。

Some of the members and I planned a welcome party yesterday (27th) for the missironaries who came to Numazu sevcral weeks ago. Two missionaries are Elder Speidel from Canada and Sister Wing from Utah. Since Sister Wing just came to Japan (greenie), we prepared "green" food! Green curry, rice, jello, snacks, cake, drinks, and even most of us wore something green.

敬老の日 Respect for the Aged Day

久しぶりにﾌﾞﾛｸﾞを更新しました！わたくしごとながら、仕事が決まり、9月10日から東京の教会管理本部の翻訳課に勤務しています。沼津から新幹線通勤です。片道2時間かかります。ということで仕事を始めてから忙しくて時間がなくて、なかなかﾌﾞﾛｸﾞを更新できないでいました。

昨日は敬老の日でお休みでした。妹と一人暮らしの84歳になるおばあちゃんの家に行ってきました。おばあちゃんは、どこそこ痛いとか言って病院に行ったりもしているけれど、とても元気で面白いです。

ということで、短いけどもう寝ないと！朝5時起きなの！

It's been a while since I updated my blog. I just got a new job as a translator at the church office in Tokyo and I have been working since 9/10. I'm commuting by bullet trains. It takes 2 hours one way. So, I've been very busy and haven't had a chance to update my blog until now.

It was a Respect for the Aged Day yesterday. It's a national holiday of Japan. My sister and I went to visit our grandma who is 84 living by herself. She often complains about her physical problems, but she's been doing quite well and she is such a funny person.

Well, this is short, but I've got to go to bed now! I have to get up at 5am!

青少年神殿参入 Youth Temple Trip

昨日今日泊まりで静岡ステーク青少年神殿参入がありました。今年は一台の大型バスを借りてみんなで一緒に行きました。沼津支部からも若い女性2人が参加して、帰りに一緒に写真を撮りました。彼女たちは2年前に教会に改宗しました。私の誇れる2人です。

There was a Shizuoka stake youth temple trip (8/22-23). This year, our stake rented a big bus and we all went together. The picture is me with two youg women from Numazu branch. They joined the church 2 years ago. I'm so proud of them.

おかわりカンファレンス Okawari Conference

8/14-16にかけて神奈川県足柄のふれあいの村というところに、「おかわりカンファレンス」というSAのサマーカンファレンスに行ってきました。楽しかったけれど、それよりも何よりも、ものすごく暑かった！！それとセミ（ひぐらし）が夜中泣き通しで全然眠れなくて、セミ好きのわたしもあのときばかりは殺虫剤か何かでやっつけたい勢いでした。

I went to a SA conference called Okawari conference from 8/14-16. It was fun, but cicadas were so loud throughout the night that I couldn't sleep! I like cicadas, but for two nights, they really bugged me and I wanted to kill them with an insecticide or something.

アンビリーバブル UNBELIEVABLE

今日は念願の「アンビリーバブル」というパフェを教会の友達と食べに行きました！となりのテーブルの男女6名のグループはすごく時間がかかっていたけれど、わたしたちは、たったの15分くらいで完食！

I had my dream parfait called "Unbelievable" with my church friends today! The people next to our table ( 3 men & women) were having a hard time eating it all, but it only took us about 15 minutes!

パステルナイト Pastel Night

もう夕べのことだけど、御殿場のフィロコモ家におじゃまして、パステルというブラジル料理を作って食べました。とってもおいしかったぁ！姉妹宣教師たちの門限があったので食べ始めたころにはあと１５分くらいしかなくて、みんなでいっそいで食べ物を口に押し込んで嵐のように帰って行きました～。あんまり時間がなかった理由の一つはフィロコモ家に行く途中で道に迷ってしまったこと。わたしが運転してたんだけどね、ははは。

I went to the Filocomo's in Gotemba to have a Brazilian dish called Pastel. Sooo yummy! Sister missionaries had a curfew, and we only had about 15 minutes to eat by the time we finished cooking, so we shoved(spell?) food into our mouth as fast as we could and left like a storm. One of the reasons we had only so much time is we got lost on our way to their home. And just so you know, I was driving, ha ha.
