久しぶりの夕飯作り Homemade Dinner

今日はまだ時差ぼけがひどくて夜良く眠れず，だから風邪も良くならず，昼間ウィリアムと二人で昼寝をしました。夕方起きて急いで夕飯の支度。昨日おとといはCostcoのピザを食べたので，こっちに戻ってから初めての手作り夕飯。日本で買ったつくりおきの本から甘辛だれのチリチキン焼きとハニーマスタードローストポテト。二つとも簡単でなかなかおいしかった♪

I still have jet lag big time. I can't get enough sleep at night, so my cold doesn't get any better. Today I was so tired and had a headache, so I took a nap with William in the afternoon. We woke up after 4 pm, and I had to start cooking for dinner right away. I cooked sweet and spicy chicken and honey mustard roast potatoes from the cookbook I brought back from Japan. They both turned out pretty good.

今日は夕飯を食べた後にみんなで裏庭の畑に水をやったり，ブライアンが伸びきっていた表庭の芝を刈るのを見ていました。そして裏庭の軒下に3つの小さな蜂の巣ができていたので，その一つを取りました。あと二つはハチがこっちを向いていたのでまた今度。

After dinner, we went to the backyard to water the garden and watched Brian mow the lawn in the front yard. And I had found three wasp nests under the roof, so I took one of them down. The other two I couldn't because the wasps were looking at me. (^^;)

ところで今日はウィリアムが初めて一日パンツで過ごしました！一日濡れないですごせました。おしっこもう〇ちもボイシに戻ってきてから大きいトイレで一人でやるようになって，二か月前に子供用トイレをやっと使い出したころに比べたらすごい進歩♪

By the way, William has been going potty since beginning of March, but today we wore his underwear all day and stayed dry for the first time! He's made quite a progress since March. Now he can even use big potties!

アメリカに戻りました！ Back in the USA

昨日9日の夕方5時過ぎ（アメリカ山岳部標準時間）に，やっとアイダホ州ボイシ市にある自宅に戻ってきました！日本を9日の朝9時半ころ家を出て，沼津駅の北口から高速バスに乗って成田空港へ。沼津北口に思いがけぬ友達のかっちゃんが来てくれました（しかも裾野からチャリで）。お菓子のお土産までもらっちゃってありがとう～。

A little after 5 pm yesterday (9th, MST), William and I finally made it back home in Boise, Idaho. We left my parents around 9:30 am yesterday (9th), and took a highway bus to Narita Airport from Numazu station. At the station, one of my friend Katsue came to see us off (She rode her bike from her house in Susono!). She gave us some snacks/candies to take home too. Thanks Katsue!

成田までは両親が来てくれました。最後は帰りの電車の時間の関係であわただしくお別れだったけれど，無事に間に合ったようで何より。

My parents came to the airport to see us off. They had to leave before we went through the security because they had to catch a train to go back to Tokyo, but glad they could come.

家に戻ってきたら，一日遅れの母の日のプレゼントが用意されていました。前から欲しかったラーメン用のどんぶり４つ！それからLindtのチョコレート♪ウィリアムからは先日教会のプライマリー（子供のクラス）で用意してくれたプレゼントをもらいました。中身は飴（いちごみるく）だったけれど，うちのお母さんに取られてしまいました。笑

Brian gave me a-day-late gifts for Mother's Day. Ramen bowls and some Lyndt truffles. William gave me a little present on Mother's Day that was prepared by Primary. 

そのほかにもブライアンが先週末にポートランドに行ったときに宇和島屋で買ってきたおいしそうな日本のお米（良く見たらカリフォルニア米だったけど，笑），三ツ矢サイダー，姫揚げ，チョコパイ，それになんともみじまんじゅう！さすがにもみじまんじゅうアメリカで手に入るとは思わなかったので感動。

And Brian also had some souvenirs from Portland trip last weekend. Some premium rice (looks like Japanese rice, but it actually is California rice. lol), Mitsuya cider (this is the best soda!), fried rice crackers, Choko-pie, and momiji manju! I got excited because I didn't think you could get momiji manju in the States! 

長興寺訪問＆家族で食事 Chokoji Visit & Family Dinner

今朝ウィリアムとまた長興寺の和尚さんと奥さんの真弓さんを訪問してきました。真弓さんは写真苦手ということで写真にいませんが。和尚さがウィリアムに本を読んでくれたり（花じぞう），お菓子（和三盆糖）とお茶（ミントの葉からのミントティー）をいただいたり，本堂でお線香をあげたり，裏庭の竹を見に行ったりしました。お土産にクッキーや着物の帯で作ったバッグもいただいてきちゃいました。また次に会えるのは2年後くらいかな～。

William and I went to visit Oshosan (Buddhist priest) and his wife at Chokoji temple this morning for the second time on this trip (we visited once when Brian was here). Mayumi san (the wife) didn't want to be in the picture, so I don't have pictures of her, but we had a good time. We talked for a while having some wasanbon (Japanese sweets) and mint tea and Oshosan read a book to Wililam. Then we went to the main hall to offer incense sticks, and went outside to look at the bamboos that came out of the ground this spring. They gave us some cookies to take home, and I got another bag that was made of obi (kimono belt). It will probably be 2 years from now we can come visit again.

そして夜は家族（両親，妹家族，弟夫婦）と集まって最後の夕食。ウィリアムがいとこの悠斗（はると）と貫太（かんた）と今回の帰国で初めて仲良く遊べる年になったのに，アメリカにもう戻らなくてはならなくて残念。ずっと近くにいれたらいいのにな。また二年後だね。

In the evening, we had a family dinner with my parents, my sister's family, and my brother and his wife. William finally became old enough to be able to play with his cousins on this trip, but we have to head back to the States soon. :( Too bad. We'll see them again hopefully in two years.

ボイシの友達と再会 Got Together with Friends from Boise

 

5月6日（金）
ボイシに駐在さんとして2年ほど住んでいたお友達とミニリユニオン。お二人とも地元静岡の方なので，向こうでも一緒にいて何かほっとするところがありました。久しぶりに会えてとてもうれしかったです。

5/6 (Fri)
William and I got to see friends from Boise (Their husbands work for Canon and were stationed in Boise for two years). Both of them are from near my hometown, so I always felt easy talking with them. I'm glad I got to see them. 

日本平動物園 Nihondaira Zoo

5月5日の子供の日は，両親と妹家族とわたしとウィリアムで静岡の日本平動物園に行ってきました。天気が良くて夏日のようでした。ウィリアムはほとんど動物に興味なし。園内にあったゾウのすべり台が一番楽しかったみたい。わたしはいちばんホッキョクグマが良かったかなあ。

We went to Nihondaira zoo on Children's Day. It was a bit windy but such a nice day (it was rather hot). William didn't really get excited about the animals, but the elephant slide that was at the zoo. I think I liked the polar bear the best.

おばあちゃん訪問＆幼なじみとディナー Visit with Grandma & Dinner with Friends from My Childhood

今日はおばあちゃんに会いに行ってきました。元気そうでよかったです。親子4代で写真を撮ってみました。みんな何気なく似てる。笑

I went to see my grandma with my mom and William today. She seems doing well despite her age. We had our four generation picture taken. We all kind of look alike. lol

夜は幼なじみの友紀ちゃんとトモロとディナー。もう一人の友達あんまは来れず残念。

In the evening, I went out for dinner with friends from my childhood. One of our friends couldn't come, darn darn.

友達とランチ～こいのぼりフェスティバル Lunch with Friends ~ Carp Banner Festival

今日は高校の時の友達とランチしました。久しぶりの再会（一年半ぶりから4年くらいまで）。清水町のOhdou Cafeという生パスタのお店に行きました。パスタもちもちしていておいしかった～。デザートにはラングドシャで包んだ濃厚なソフトクリームを食べて満足❤　両方写真撮り忘れましたが～。

I went out for lunch with my high school friends today. With some of them, it had been a year and a half since I saw them, and with some others, over four years. I failed to take pictures, but we had fresh pasta at Ohdou Cafe in Shimizu-cho, and had some very rich ice cream wrapped with langue de chat. They were both so yummy!

家に帰ってから，もう夕方近くだったけれどウィリアムの要望でお父さんとウィリアムとで沼津のこいのぼりフェスティバルにこいのぼりを見に行ってきました。たくさんのこいのぼりが空を泳いでました。<+ ))><< ウィリアムはとても喜んでました。

In the late afternoon, my dad, William, and I went to Numazu Koinobori (Carp Banner) Festival upon William's request. There were many Koinoboris flying in the sky. William was happy to see them. :)
