日本版・主の降誕シーン Japanese Nativity

少し前のブログで、東京神殿のところに飾ってあった主の降誕シーンを掲載しましたが、先日管理本部の実務ディレクターの家にランチに招待されて行ったときに、いろいろな国の主の降誕シーンのが飾られていました。こけしで出来た日本版もあって、初めて見たので面白いと思ってご紹介します。

I uploaded a picture of Nativity scene from Tokyo Temple not while ago, but today I want to show you a Japanese nativity which I thought was pretty interesting. It was the first time for me to see the Japanese one. It was at the DTA of the church office as I was invited for Christmas lunch last week.

メリークリスマス！Merry Christmas!

クリスマスがやってきました。今日は仕事は休みでした。さすが教会。昨日は職場で同じフロアで働く人たちにクッキーを配りました。少しだけでも主の愛を分かち合いたかったので。JMTCの会長さんや他の部の方からもクッキーやケーキをいただきました。とてもアメリカが恋しくなりました。ともかく、みなさんメリークリスマス！

Christmas is here. I didn't have to work today. No working on Christmas day for the churh, yey. I baked some cookies and gave them to the people on the same floor yesterday to share the love of the Lord. People from another department and the president of JMTC gave us (translation department) some cookies and cakes as well. I miss America... Anyway, Merry Christmas everyone!

すごいプレゼント The Great Present

最近職場で，大管長会からのクリスマスカードと記念品をいただきました。確か去年はレザーの聖書だったと聞きましたが，今年はレザーの英語の賛美歌でした。写真では見にくいけれど，とても品があって，使うにはもったいないくらいです。たぶんしまっておくことになるかなぁ。

Recently, I received a Christmas card and memorial at work which is from the first presidency. I heard that the last year's present was leather Bible. This year's was a leather hymn book. It's hard to tell in the picture, but it's very good quality, and I don't think I will be able to use it.

もうクリスマス It's almost Christmas.

おとといの話になるけれど，職場のクリスマスソーシャルがありました。翻訳部と，資材管理部の姉妹たち9人で賛美歌「 天を降りし神の御子は」の発表をしました。練習する時間はあまりなかったけれど，上出来じゃないかと思います。クリスマスなのに青を着ているわたしを許してください～。赤も緑もないんだもの。

We had a Christmas social at work the day before yesterday. 9 of us (Translation department and sisters in Materials Mgmt department) sang a hymn, Away in a Manger. We didn't have much time to practice, but I think we did pretty good. Sorry about my blue outfit. I don't own any clothes that are red or green.

忘年会 Year End Party

昨日（金）の夜は、管理本部の何人かの人たちと（みんな課は別々です）忘年会をしました。赤坂にある兄夫（ヒョンブ）食堂という韓国料理店に行きました。３つのテーブルでわたしたちのところは単品で頼み、あとの２つのテーブルの人たちはコースで頼んでいました。たくさん食べてお腹いっぱいでした。キムチとか辛いものをたくさん食べたせいか、とてものどが渇いてたくさん水を飲みました。

今日は沼津支部の神殿参入だったので、夕べそのまま神殿別館へ泊まって、今日は支部の人たちと同じセッションに入りました。もう１２月なので、神殿の前にはライトアップされたネーティビティーのシーンが飾ってありました。

I went to a year end party with some of the brothers and sisters from work (we don't all work in the same department). We wen to a Korean restaurant called Hyungboo in Akasaka. We sat at three different tables. People at my table ordered seperately, and people at two other tables ordered a course menu. We all ate much and got so full. I got so thirsty and had so much water during the meal. I think that's because we ate spicty stuff like Kimchee.

Today was a Numazu branch temple trip. I stayed in the temple annex last night after the party, then attended the same session with people from my branch. When I arrived at the temple last night, there was already a nativity scene decorated.

最後の日曜日 The Last Sunday

今日はフィロコモ家族が日本での最後の日曜日でした。彼らは２年半日本にいました。今週ブラジルに帰ってしまいます。さみしくなります。

It was the last Sunday in Japan for the Filócomo's. They have been in Japan for 2 1/2 years, but they will be going back to Brazil this week. I will miss them so much.

のっぽパン Noppo Pan

のっぽパンを知らないあなた！静岡県沼津市で作られているこのパンは、昔からとっても人気なのです。結構最近このパンを作っていたパン工場が閉鎖してしまい、スーパーなどでは見かけなくなったのですが、のっぽパンを専門に売るお店が出来て、昨日ともだちと沼津の町を散策していて見つけました。とてもうれしかった！昔はクリームとチョコの２種類くらいしかなかったのに、今ではいろんな種類があります。とにかく、なくならなくてよかった～！静岡市でも売ってるって聞きました。みなさん、静岡に来るときにはぜひのっぽパンを！

If you don't know what Noppo Pan is, it's a kind of bread made in Numazu(where I'm from). To those of you who don't know Japanese, Noppo means long, Pan means bread. The bread factory nearby was closed pretty recently and we couldn't see the bread anymore at grocery stores. But, as I was hanging around with my friend yesterday, I found a little shop specifically selling the bread. I was way happy! There used to be one or two kinds of flavor, but there are many kinds now. If you ever come to Numazu, you better have some Noppo Pan!

決定的瞬間 Da Moment

It' a little blurry, but it's the moment. But, I figured I can always change the time of my watch and take the pic, ha ha...

最後の訪問 The Last Visit

今晩沼津支部の宣教師たちと御殿場に住むブラジル人の教会員の家族、フィロコモ家に夕食におよばれしました。2年半ほど彼らは日本で働いていましたが、今月末ブラジルに帰ることになりました。さみしい（泣）！今晩がフィロコモ家が帰ってしまう前の最後の訪問となりました。いつもそうだけど、ほんとにとてもおいしいブラジル料理をいただいて、みんなお腹いっぱいになりました。ところで、御殿場はとても寒かった！さすが富士山のふもと。

The missionaries serving in Numazu branch and I were invited for dinner at the Filocomo's, Brazilian family members who live in Gotemba. They have been working in Japan for two years and a half, but decided to go back to Brazil the end of this month. So sad! Tonight's visit became our last visit before they leave Japan. As always, we had great Brazilian food and we all got so full. By the way, Gotemba was freezing cold! I guess the place really is located at the bottom of Mt. Fuji.

ステーク大会 Stake Conference

昨日今日は静岡ステーク大会でした。今日の部会で、わたしは若い女性の顧問から解任されました。が、新たに顧問として召されて、これからは新しい会長さんのもとで働くことになりました。東京で仕事が決まって、そろそろ引っ越すことも考えていたけれど、しばらくは沼津にいることになりそうです。

We had our stake conference yesterday and today. In today's session, I was released from YW counselor. But, I was again called as a counselor, this time working with a new YW president. It's been almost 2 months since I started my new job in Tokyo, and I had just started thinking about moving to Tokyo, but I guess I will have to stay in Numazu for a while, ha ha.

ハローウィンパーティー Halloween Party

今日は友達のやっている英会話学校のハローウィンパーティーのお手伝いに行ってきました。４つのゲームがあって、そのうちの一つを担当しました。たくさんの子供たちとその保護者の方が来て、みんなで楽しんでくれたようでよかった～。写真はゲームの後のおやつの時間。

I went to my friend's English school Halloween party. She needed some help for the activities, and I was asked to do one of the four games. Many of her students and the parents came, and they all seemed having fun. The picture is taken after the activities at refreshment time.

誕生日 My Birthday

もうとっくに過ぎちゃったけれど、10月10日はわたしの誕生日でした。職場では、何人かの人たちが食べ物を持ち寄ってくれてランチの時間に誕生日パーティーをしました。ちょうど次の日が誕生日の兄弟がいて、二人分一緒にお祝いしました。家では、両親がながーいロールケーキを買ってくれてあって（写真参照）、みんなでおいしく食べてお祝いしました。それから姉妹宣教師たちが家にきてくれてケーキとカードを持ってきてくれてバースデーソングも歌ってくれました。よい誕生日でした。

It was my birthday on the 10th. At work, some co-workers brought some food, and we had a small birthday party during the lunch break. It was for me and another guy whose birthday was the day after mine. When I went home, my family had bought me a long roll cake (see pic), so we ate it together and celebrated my birthday. And, sister missionaries came over and gave me a little cake and card, and sang a birthday song for me. It was a nice day.

昨日27日は、教会で前の転勤で沼津に来たカナダ出身のスパイダル長老と、ユタ州出身のウィング姉妹の歓迎会をしました。ウィング姉妹がビーンちゃん（グリーニー）なので、食べ物を全部緑でそろえました！緑のカレー、ご飯、ゼリー、お菓子、ケーキ、飲み物、そして、私たちのほとんどが緑の物を身に付けていました～。

Some of the members and I planned a welcome party yesterday (27th) for the missironaries who came to Numazu sevcral weeks ago. Two missionaries are Elder Speidel from Canada and Sister Wing from Utah. Since Sister Wing just came to Japan (greenie), we prepared "green" food! Green curry, rice, jello, snacks, cake, drinks, and even most of us wore something green.

敬老の日 Respect for the Aged Day

久しぶりにﾌﾞﾛｸﾞを更新しました！わたくしごとながら、仕事が決まり、9月10日から東京の教会管理本部の翻訳課に勤務しています。沼津から新幹線通勤です。片道2時間かかります。ということで仕事を始めてから忙しくて時間がなくて、なかなかﾌﾞﾛｸﾞを更新できないでいました。

昨日は敬老の日でお休みでした。妹と一人暮らしの84歳になるおばあちゃんの家に行ってきました。おばあちゃんは、どこそこ痛いとか言って病院に行ったりもしているけれど、とても元気で面白いです。

ということで、短いけどもう寝ないと！朝5時起きなの！

It's been a while since I updated my blog. I just got a new job as a translator at the church office in Tokyo and I have been working since 9/10. I'm commuting by bullet trains. It takes 2 hours one way. So, I've been very busy and haven't had a chance to update my blog until now.

It was a Respect for the Aged Day yesterday. It's a national holiday of Japan. My sister and I went to visit our grandma who is 84 living by herself. She often complains about her physical problems, but she's been doing quite well and she is such a funny person.

Well, this is short, but I've got to go to bed now! I have to get up at 5am!

青少年神殿参入 Youth Temple Trip

昨日今日泊まりで静岡ステーク青少年神殿参入がありました。今年は一台の大型バスを借りてみんなで一緒に行きました。沼津支部からも若い女性2人が参加して、帰りに一緒に写真を撮りました。彼女たちは2年前に教会に改宗しました。私の誇れる2人です。

There was a Shizuoka stake youth temple trip (8/22-23). This year, our stake rented a big bus and we all went together. The picture is me with two youg women from Numazu branch. They joined the church 2 years ago. I'm so proud of them.

おかわりカンファレンス Okawari Conference

8/14-16にかけて神奈川県足柄のふれあいの村というところに、「おかわりカンファレンス」というSAのサマーカンファレンスに行ってきました。楽しかったけれど、それよりも何よりも、ものすごく暑かった！！それとセミ（ひぐらし）が夜中泣き通しで全然眠れなくて、セミ好きのわたしもあのときばかりは殺虫剤か何かでやっつけたい勢いでした。

I went to a SA conference called Okawari conference from 8/14-16. It was fun, but cicadas were so loud throughout the night that I couldn't sleep! I like cicadas, but for two nights, they really bugged me and I wanted to kill them with an insecticide or something.

アンビリーバブル UNBELIEVABLE

今日は念願の「アンビリーバブル」というパフェを教会の友達と食べに行きました！となりのテーブルの男女6名のグループはすごく時間がかかっていたけれど、わたしたちは、たったの15分くらいで完食！

I had my dream parfait called "Unbelievable" with my church friends today! The people next to our table ( 3 men & women) were having a hard time eating it all, but it only took us about 15 minutes!

パステルナイト Pastel Night

もう夕べのことだけど、御殿場のフィロコモ家におじゃまして、パステルというブラジル料理を作って食べました。とってもおいしかったぁ！姉妹宣教師たちの門限があったので食べ始めたころにはあと１５分くらいしかなくて、みんなでいっそいで食べ物を口に押し込んで嵐のように帰って行きました～。あんまり時間がなかった理由の一つはフィロコモ家に行く途中で道に迷ってしまったこと。わたしが運転してたんだけどね、ははは。

I went to the Filocomo's in Gotemba to have a Brazilian dish called Pastel. Sooo yummy! Sister missionaries had a curfew, and we only had about 15 minutes to eat by the time we finished cooking, so we shoved(spell?) food into our mouth as fast as we could and left like a storm. One of the reasons we had only so much time is we got lost on our way to their home. And just so you know, I was driving, ha ha.

ネバーギブアップ Never Give Up

今日は支部の友達のまりちゃんとCamilaと、巨大パフェを食べに行きました。その名も「ネバーギブアップ」！本当は姉妹宣教師も行く予定で、もっとでっかい「アンビリーバブル」というバケツみたいのを食べたかったけれど、いかんせ３人じゃあ無理やろ～ってことでワンランク下げました。それでもでっかくて、今も寝る前だけどかなり苦しい～。

I went to have a huge parfait with my friend, Mari and Camila. We had a big parfait called "Never Give Up". We were planning on having sister missionaries with us, so we wanted to have the biggest parfait called "Unbelievable"(like a bucket size!), but they ended up not being able to make it, so we ordered the one that was one size smaller. It was big enough for three of us though. It's already a bed time, but I'm still way full.

しおり Bookmark

最近レース編みのしおり作りにはまっています。以前友達にもらったのをまねて作ってみたら結構かわいくできました～。

I have been into crocheting bookmarks lately. One of my friends gave me one before and I tried to imitate. They actually turned out to be pretty cute.

せみ Cicadas

本格的な夏になり、今年もせみがたくさん鳴き始めました。わたしの部屋のすぐ外の木でもシャーシャーと朝５じころから鳴き始め、毎年わたしはこれで寝不足になり、毎年この時期に絶対来年は実家から引っ越してやる！と決意するのであ～る。写真はせみの幼虫。夕方になると地面から出てきて、家の塀の上を何匹も歩いています。

Summer really is here, and cicadas started making soooo much noise. Just right outside my room, there are some trees, and some cicadas start making noise like 5 o'clockish in the morning everyday!! Every year in summer, I determine to move out of my parents home, so I can have more sleep. The pic is the larva of a cicada. Larvae come out of the ground in the evening and I have found many of them walking on the fence of my house.

今日は扶助協会の家庭・家族・個人を豊かにする集会がありました。フィリピン人のクリスティーナ姉妹がフィリピンのパスタ（パンスィット　マラボン）を教えてくれました。わたしの大嫌いな豆腐がたくさん入っていたけれど、カルボナーラみたいで何にも豆腐のにおいも味もせず、とてもおいしかった！

There was a Home, Family, and Personal Enrichment meeting at church today. Christina, one of the sisters from the Philippines taught us how to make the Philippine noodle called Pancit Malabon. In the noodle, there was a ton of Tofu which I HATE, but I couldn't smell or taste of it at all, and it was actually soooo yummy!

夏だ！ Summer has come!

暑い！ムリ！ありえない！それだけ！

Hot! Impossible! Can't stand it! That's all I can say!

きゅうり Da Cucumbers

家の畑に今たくさんきゅうりとなすがなっています。少しほおっておくとこんなにでっかくお化けのように！食べきれん！

So many cucumbers and eggplants are growing like crazy in our family's little field. If we don't go get them for a couple days, they grow like this big! Can't eat them all!

ごちゃまぜパーティ Combined Party

今日は沼津の教会で宣教師（長老二人、姉妹二人）と芦川兄弟姉妹といろんなパーティを一つにしたパーティーをしました。宣教師二人が新任（ビーン）なのでようこそっていうのと、一人はすぐに伝道を終えてしまうのでさよならっていうのと、もう一人はすぐに転勤してしまうのでこれまたさよならで、4人のうち二人は誕生日が昨日としあさってなので、これをみんなまとめて食事会しました。食べ物はビーンちゃん（英語だとグリーニーと言います）のために全部グリーンでそろえました。緑のご飯、ケーキ、ゼリー、お菓子。食べすぎました。でもおいしかった！

Numazu missionaries ( two Elders and two sisters), brother & sister Ashikawa, and I had a combined party at church today. We had to have a party for the two new missionaries who are new (just came out of the MTC and JMTC), for one Elder who is going home to Australia soon, for one sister who is getting transferred soon, and for both sisters' birthdays. Sister Ashikawa and I made most of the food green; green rice, cake, jello, snacks and candies, just for the greenies (new missionaries). We all ate so much, but the food was great!

どぉしたん？！ What happened?!

去年ブルーベリーの木を庭に植えて、一年目にして20個以上の実がなりました。今年も楽しみにしていたところ、どぉしたん？！地面から一センチのところに一個なっただけ！なんで？食べたいけど食べたくない～・・・

I planted a blueberry tree in my backyard last year, and got more than twenty blueberries, so I was looking forward to this year's, but what happened to my blueberry?! There was only one just 1/2 inch above the ground. What was wrong? I want to eat it, but I'm kind of hesitant to eat...

中華まん Chinese Steamed Buns

わたしの伯父さんが、横浜中華街にある重慶飯店の中華まんを箱いっぱいに送ってきてくれました。めっちゃおいしい！3日連続で夕飯のときに食べて（ごはんプラスで！）、すでにみんな終わってしまいました！！

My uncle sent my family a box full of Chines steamed buns from the Chungking Chinese Szechwan Restaurant in Yokohama China town. They are sooo yummy!!! Oh, my family ate them three nights in a row (besides dinner!) and they are all gone already!!!

姉妹宣教師 Sister Missionaries

今日は沼津で働いている姉妹宣教師のハント姉妹とヴェー姉妹と一緒に求道者の家にレッスンに行く機会がありました。その後で、家に来て「わたしの福音を宣べ伝えなさい」についていろいろ教わりました。宣教師といると、自分の宣教師時代を思い出したり、いつもとてもいい気持ちを感じます。

I had the opportunity to go to one of the investigators houses today with sister missionaries who are serving in my branch. After that, the sisters came over to my house and taught me how to effectively use "Preach My Gospel". When I'm with the missionaries, they remind me of the time of my mission, and always make me feel good.

イーガン兄弟 The Egan Brothers

もう数日前の話だけれど、ステーク大会第２日目に、以前沼津で伝道したイーガン長老がお兄さんと一緒に訪問してくれました。お兄さんも数年前に仙台で伝道したそうで二人で旅行に来ました。今回のステーク大会は、日本全国一斉に行われたブロードキャストのやつで、沼津支部と富士ワードは富士で一緒に見ました。イーガン長老は富士と沼津の両方で伝道したので、両方の会員に会えてちょうどよかったんじゃないかなあ。でもその日はものすごい雨でもう大変でした！

Well, this happened 3 days ago already, but one of the returned missionaries who served in Numazu before came to visit with his brother who also served his mission in Sendai a couple years ago. They came to the broadcast stake conference in which all the branches/wards in Japan participated in different areas. Members of Fuji ward and Numazu branch saw the broadcast in Fuji together. It was good for Elder Egan who served both in Numazu and Fuji because he got to see both members at the same time. By the say, it rained super hard all day long that day!!!

誕生会 Birthday Party

今日明日はステークカンファレンスで、今日の土曜の夜の部会の前に静岡ワードの若い女性の誕生会をするということで、わたしも参加させてもらいました。短い時間だったけれど、おにぎり、から揚げ、サラダ、ケーキとお腹いっぱいいただきました。みんなおいしかった～。誕生日の女の子（緑の服）はハッピーそうには見えないけれど、絶対に心の中では嬉しい思いであふれていたと思うよ！その後のステーク大会もとても霊的な良い会で参加してよかった～。

It's our stake conference today and tomorrow. We had a little birthday party for a young woman of Shizuoka ward before the Saturday evening session. We didn't have a whole lot of time, but had so much food; rice balls, deep fried chicken, salad, and cake. Yum yum.　The birthday girl (in green) doesn't look so happy, but I'm sure she was happy inside. ☆　The conference after the party was also good, very spiritual and uplifting. I'm glad that I went.

この夏一番 The First One of This Summer

今日庭で今年初めての蝉の穴を発見しました！よく見たら中に幼虫がいたんだけれど、ちょっと時期が早いからどうかなあと心配していたけれど、穴から出してみたらやっぱり未熟児だった。毎年早く出てきちゃうやつがいるんだよね～。

I found a larva of Cicadas in the back yard today. It's the first one I've found this year. Unfortunately, it was a premature one, so it will probably die before it becomes a cicada, sad. Every year, there are some larvae like this one that come out too soon.

嬉しい突然の訪問 A Surprise Visit

今日はなんと16年前にわたしが初めて福音を教わった長老が、家族で沼津の教会を訪問してくれて、久しぶりに再会しました。とても嬉しかったです。15年以上たった今も二人とも教会で活発に頑張っていてこのように再会できたことに感謝しています。

One of the first missionaries who taught me the gospel 16 years ago came to Numazu branch with his family today. It had been a long time since I saw him. I'm so very grateful that we could see each other again after a long time even both of us still living the gospel and being active in the church.

髪の毛切りました～！ I cut my own hair!

わたしのことをよくご存知のかたにとってはいつものことですが、また髪の毛を切りました。最近前髪がうっとおしくて限界だったので、ついに切ってしまいました。一応前髪伸ばしていたので、いつものごとく「あーあ」と少し後悔の念はあったけれど、いらいら感とかからは開放されて嬉しい。

This is a usual thing to those of you who know me well, yes, I cut my own hair again. My bangs had been bothering me and couldn't stant it anymore. I was trying to grow my bangs, so I regretted a little bit, but I feel much better now.

ちんすこう Chinsuko

友達のブログにちんすこうを作ったとあって、むしょうに食べたくなってわたしも作りました。黒糖を混ぜて黒糖ちんすこう。とってもおいしい！でもほとんどラードと砂糖で出来ているから、おっそろしいくらいのカロリーだと思うよ…

My friend had made Chinsukos (traditional sweets of Okinawa) and posted the picture on her blog. That looked so good which made me make some for myself. They turned out so yummy! But, I know how they are mostly made from lard and sugar, so it's scary to think how many calories they contain.
