ハロウィーン Happy Halloween!

今日はハロウィーンでした🎃👻🍭
Today was Halloween.


夕飯の後ウィリアムとコスチュームを来てトリックorトリーティングに行ってきました。分かりにくいけどウィリアムはペンギンです🐧ブライアンはお家でお留守番で，トリックorトリーティングをしに来た子供たちにキャンディーを配る役。
After dinner, William and I put our costumes on and went trick or treating. It might be hard to tell, but William is a penguin. Brian stayed home to give out candies to the kids.

最後は自分の家の通りに戻ってきて，我が家で終了。お父さんから最後のキャンディーをもらいました。
After a while, we came back to our street and our house was the last stop. William got his last candy from daddy. :)

今年もたくさんハロウィーンキャンディーゲットです🍬🍭
He got many candies again this year. 

ウィリアムはもう来年のハローウィンの話をしていて，来年はおばけになりたいそうです👻👻👻
William is already talking about next year's Halloween, and says he wants to be a ghost next year. lol


ところで，今日ウィリアムを幼稚園に迎えに行くちょっと前に，教会のホームティーチャー（教会で各家族を毎月訪問するよう割り当てられている人）が突然やってきて，裏庭の落ち葉をぜーんぶ履いて集めてくれました！落ち葉で何も見えなかった芝生が見える✨
By the way, our home teacher came by this morning right before I had to go get William from kindergarten, and he raked the whole entire backyard!! Leaves had totally covered the ground, but look, we can see the grass now!

こんなに集まりました。今日はちょうどごみの日だったので，ごみのトラックが来るまでに間に合って持って行ってもらえたのでよかったです。今日の午後一人で落ち葉集める予定だったけれど一人でやったらものすごく大変だったろうからほんとに助かりました。感謝感謝。
Look at these bags full of leaves! It was a garbage day today, and we were able to put the bags out before the truck came to pick them up. I was going to rake the leaves this afternoon, but it would have taken forever to do it by myself. I'm so grateful he came!

長～い一日 A Long Day

今日は朝から夜までスケジュールいっぱい。お祭り好きとしてはこういう日が大好きですが，ブライアンはかなりしんどかったと思う（笑）
We were busy all day today. I love busy day like this but it was probably way too much for Brian. lol

朝は近々奉献される予定のメリディアン神殿のオープンハウスに教会員でない日本人の友人とその旦那さん（現在教会をお休みしているアメリカ人の方）と行ってきました。ボイシ神殿とは全然違った作りでまた違った美しさでした。友人がたくさん質問があったので，いろいろ話しながら中を見て回ったのであんまりゆっくりそれぞれの部屋を見ずに終わってしまいました（笑）でもまだあと２回行く予定なのでそのときにでも。
In the morning, we went to the open house for the Meridian temple which will be dedicated in a few weeks. We went with one of my Japanese non-member friends and her husband who grew up in the church but is no longer active. My friend had many questions about the temple and the church, so I was focusing more on answering her questions than looking at the interior of the temple, so I didn't even realize we passed sealing rooms. lol I still have two more opportunities to go, so next time I hope to be able to focus more on the details of the temple.

午後は，ブライアンの家族と合流してFarmsteadに行きました。かぼちゃ畑やトウモロコシの迷路などがあるところです。ウィリアムはいとこの子たちやメイリ―（１６歳だけど一応おばさん，笑）と楽しい時間を過ごしました。
In the afternoon, we got together with Brian's family and went to The Farmstead (where pumpkin patch, corn maze, etc. are). William and his cousins (and his auntie MeiLi) had a great time there.

ブライアンとわたしはジャコランタンのためのかぼちゃをゲット。月曜日に作る予定です。
Brian and I picked a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch to make a Jack-o-lantern. We'll be carving the pumpkin on Monday. :) 

そして夜は教会のハローウィンパーティー。最初にディナー（チリとコーンブレッド）があって，その後に外の駐車場に出てトランク or トリーティング（trunk or treating）をしました。長～い一日だったけれどとても楽しい一日になりました。
And in the evening, we had a ward Halloween party. We had dinner (chili and corn bread) first, then went outside to the parking lot for trunk or treating. It was a long day, but was so much fun!

パンケーキ & ベーコン Pancakes & Bacon

今日は土曜日で8時ころまで3人とも寝てました。
Today was Saturday, so we all slept in until like 8 am.


起きてすぐにウィリアムがパンケーキを食べたいと言うので，めんどくさ～いと思ったけれどパンケーキパンケーキとうるさいので作りましたよ。ベーコンも一緒に焼いて，朝から思いっきりアメリカンな朝食。
William wanted to have pancakes for breakfast and he kept saying pancakes and would not stop, so I made pancakes for all of us to eat along with some bacon. 

今日はこれといって出かける用事もなかったので，比較的のんびり過ごしました。
We didn't have any specific plans today, so it was kind of a slow day.


今度の水曜日にある「活動の日」の活動用のハローウィンの工作を練習で作ってみました。なかなかかわいい～💛
So I tried to figure out how to make a Halloween craft for the next Activity Days. It turned out pretty cute.

それからもうロールパンが切れてしまったのでまたチョコロールとふつうのロールパンを半分ずつ。どれがどれだか分かんなくなっちゃって重さをはかってチョコ入りと普通のを区別しました。ちゃんと均等に重さ測っておいてよかった～。
And we were already out of rolls, so I baked some more. 6 regular rolls and 6 chocolate chip rolls. When they came out of the oven, they all looked the same and I couldn't tell which ones were which, so I weighed each one and figured out. Good thing I weighed each dough to make it even.

それから今晩ロールキャベツにしようと思っていたのに，キャベツの皮がうまくはがせなくて断念！ロールキャベツは好きだけど，キャベツの皮でいつも大変な思いをするので作るのがおっくう。実家のロールキャベツは白菜でやっていたから（キャベツだと思って食べてた，笑）今度から白菜にしようかな。
I was thinking of making rolled cabbage for dinner tonight, but I just couldn't get the cabbage leaves off the head without breaking them, so I gave up. My mom would make rolled cabbage with Chinese cabbage, so may be I'll try that next time.


ということで，夕飯は餃子に変更。庭の畑になっているニラ（細～いんだけど）を取ってきて入れました。こっちには太いニラが売ってなくて，育ててもこんなに細いニラ。太いニラがほしい。知り合いからもらったことあるのでどっかにあるはずなんだけどな。細いのが毎年だんだん太くなっていくのかなあ。去年よりはほ～んのすこし太くなったような気がしないでもないけど。
So, our dinner tonight was gyoza (pot stickers) instead. I went out to the garden and got some chives. Chives makes gyoza taste a lot better. :)

七五三写真撮影 Shichi-go-san Photo Sessions

少し前にウィリアムの七五三の写真をお仕事で写真を撮っているお友達に撮ってもらいました。その写真のデータを数日前にもらったので少し載せます。ウィリアムがなかなか自然に笑ってくれないので撮る方は大変だったと思うけど，ほんとよく撮ってくれました。
William had a photo session for Shichi-go-san (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shichi-Go-San) at Albertson park a while ago, and I got the data a few days ago. I'll post some of the pictures here. William wouldn't smile naturally (he's terrible with pictures!), so my photographer friend must have had a hard time taking pictures of him, but he did a great job.


今日はその第二弾で，室内で兜と一緒に撮りました。でも今日のは距離とかの関係でうまい具合に写真におさまらなかったんじゃないかなあ。
Today, we had another session this time inside with Kabuto (Samurai warrior headpiece), but it might not have turned out well with our limited space and all. We'll see.

充実した日 Productive Day

今日はなんかとても忙しかった～。
It was a busy day today.


ウィリアムを幼稚園に送って家に戻ってから，迎えに行くまでの約3時間の間にいろんなことしました。30分昨日と同じCizeというエクササイズをし（超体が筋肉痛！），シャワーを浴びて身支度をし，バタートップというパンを一斤焼き，チョコレートパイを二つ作りました。時間有効に使うとこんなに短時間でこんなにできちゃうもんなんだ～と我ながら感心。
After I dropped William off at his school, I did so many things in three hours. I did Cize again (By the way, I'm sore everywhere!), took shower and got ready, baked a loaf of bread, and made two chocolate angel pies. Whew. I didn't realize you could do so many things if you used time wisely.

午後はマリエラの家にスペイン語を学びに行き，帰って来てからはウィリアムの幼稚園の宿題と，音楽のクラスの宿題をやったり，先日のハローウィンサプライズをほかの家にやりに行くために持っていくカップケーキのフロスティングを作ったり（カップケーキは夕べ焼きました），一日中慌ただしかったです。
In the afternoon, we went to Mariela's house to learn Spanish. After we came home, we worked on William's kindergarten homework and music class homework. Then I had to finish making cupcakes to take to people's house to BOO. :)

そして今晩は暗くなってから3人で二件のお宅にハローウィンのサプライズをしに行きました。ブライアンが運転手，ウィリアムは見物（笑），わたしはドアベルをならして走って逃げる係。スリリングで楽しかった💛
After dinner, we went to do the Halloween boo thing. Brian was the driver, William was a good support, and I was the one who took the treats and rang the doorbell and ran. 🏃 It was so fun. :)

ところで！昨日大量に落ち葉集めたと思ったけど，今朝起きたらまたこんなに💦💦💦夕方までにはさらにひどくなってました。もう毎年勘弁してほしいわ。。。
By the way, I thought I raked leaves yesterday, but when I woke up this morning, leaves were everywhere! By the evening, it was a lot worse. I can't stand these leaves!

Cize

今日はなんと！もんのすごい久しぶりにエクササイズをしました！前にやっていたBeachbodyという会社のCizeというダンスエクササイズ。久しぶり過ぎてやり始めて数分は気持ち悪くなった💦けど，そのうち慣れてきて30分無事に終了。明日筋肉痛間違いなし。続けられるかなあ～。
Today, I exercised for the first time in over a year and a half! I did Beachbody's Cize (dance exercise). I felt sick right after I started it, but soon I got used to it and was able to complete its 30 minutes workout. I'm positive my whole body will be sore tomorrow. I wonder if I can continue working out...


今日は朝からウィリアムともめて最悪なスタート。それでも幼稚園から帰って来てからは比較的穏やかな時間を過ごしました。
William and I had a big argument this morning. Perfect way to start off the day right?! Sigh... But after he came home from kinder, we had a fairly good afternoon.


ウィリアムは午後ほとんどの時間を「本」作りに費やしてました。毎日ページが増えて行きます。なんだかこんな感じのこと自分も昔やったなあ。。。親子だわ。
William spent most of the afternoon making his "book". Everyday, he adds new pages. I did something similar when I was a kid. I guess we are related.

今日郵便物を取りに行こうとして玄関の戸を開けたら，庭が落ち葉だらけでものすごいことになっていて，こりゃ落ち葉掃かねばちょっと恥ずかしいと思って一時間ばかり落ち葉掃きました。ウィリアムも外に出てきて手伝ってくれて，これがかなり助かった！この袋に2つ分いっぱいに落ち葉集めたけど，まだまだこれから落ちてくる。裏庭もひどいことになってます。
And when I opened the front door to go check the mail, our front yard looked so terrible with all the leaves. It needed to be raked badly, so I went out and raked for about an hour. William came out and help which really was a big help. We filled 2 of these bags, and there are still a lot more leaves to fall. Our backyard looks terrible too.

それから今日も作りましたよロールパン。写真はもう二つ食べちゃってますが，チョコのロールパンを７つと普通のを６つ。これであさってくらいまではもつんじゃないかな。
And I baked some more rolls today. The picture is missing two (we already at them), but I made 7 chocolate rolls and 6 regular rolls this time. Hopefully this will last at least for two days.

それから今日の夕飯はクロックポット（スロークッカー）でチリを作りました。昼に準備して夕飯の時までほおっておけばいいので楽でした。
We had chili for dinner tonight. I like crock pot dinner. You just throw everything in and it cooks for you.

先日畑でとれたサツマイモもふかして食べました。写真だと一つしかきれいなのがなくて微妙だけど，小さいのもしっかりサツマイモの味がしておいしかったです。日本のサツマイモみたくホックリした感じじゃなくてベチャっとした感じだけど。日本のおいしいサツマイモ食べた～い！
I steamed the sweet potatoes we got from our garden too. They don't look all that good except one, but the even little ones tasted just like the big sweet potatoes. :) They weren't as good as Japanese sweet potatoes, but was good enough. I want to eat yummy Japanese sweet potatoes!
