自分の誕生日 My Birthday

今日誕生日を迎えました。昨日は一日早くブライアンの家族みんなにお祝いしてもらいました。4日前に誕生日を迎えた義理の母との合同誕生パーティー♪
It was my birthday today. We had a birthday party yesterday with Brian's family for me and Kathi (my mother-in-law) who had her birthday four days ago. 

今日はブライアンとウィリアムにお祝いしてもらいました。
And we had another party tonight just by ourselves. 

いつもは誕生日に外食するんだけれど、今日は平日でちょっと時間的に厳しかったので普通に晩御飯は家で食べ（カレー）、食後にプレゼントをもらったりチーズケーキ（自作の、笑）でお祝いしました。今週土曜日に外食してお祝いする予定です♪
We normally go out for birthday dinner, but since it was Monday we just had dinner at home (I cooked curry) and had a little party afterward with the cheesecake I baked yesterday. We are planning on going out for lunch this coming Saturday though. 

ウィリアムは紙に英語でHAPPY BIRTHDAY MIKIKO!!と書いてくれました。そして💛も描いてくれて。なんか去年はまだ全然絵も字も書けなかったのに、すごい上達してて感動＆うれし～い。
William wrote me "HAPPY BIRTHDAY MIKIKO!!"and drew a heart on pieces of paper and that was so sweet. He couldn't write or draw anything last year, but he has grown so much and has been learning many things since. 

ティーガンのバプテスマ会 Teagan's Baptism

10/8 （土）Sat

今日は甥っ子のティーガンのバプテスマ会でした。末日聖徒イエス・キリスト教会では、8歳になるとバプテスマ（洗礼）を受けることができます。父親のマイカがバプテスマを施しました。
It was my nephew Teagan's baptism today. In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, you can choose to be baptized when you turn 8. His father Micah baptized him.

ティーガンのバプテスマには、同じワードの友達や会員、他州からのティーガンの親戚（おじ、おば、いとこなど）も集まりました。写真はオバノン家側のいとこたちと。
Many of his relatives (aunts, uncles, cousins, etc) came from other states, along with his friends and his ward members. This picture is Teagan with his cousins (O'Bannon side).

オバノン家側の家族みんなで写真を撮りました。光の反射したのがカメラに写ってしまっていて残念（4枚とも全部そうだった～）。
This is everybody from the O'Bannon side. A little disappointed that the picture had this sunlight reflection. :(


バプテスマ会の後はティーガンの家に行ってランチを食べてみんなで団らん。ブライアンはその前に仕事の会議で出かけなくてはならなかったので昼抜きで出かけて行きました。
After the baptism, we went to Teagan's house to have lunch and mingle. Brian had to go to work for a meeting, so he took off without having lunch. Poor guy.


その後は、ブライアンの実家に行って4時ころまでBYUフットボールの試合を見て（BYUが勝ちました！）、それからFarmsteadにトウモロコシの迷路をやりに行きました。
After that, we went to Brian's family's house to watch BYU football game (they won!) until 4 pm, then head to Farmstead for the corn maze. Brian got done with the meeting right before we were leaving the house, so he was able to join us at the Farmstead.

1時間くらい歩いてやっと出口を見つけました！

After walking for like an hour, we finally found the exit!

トウモロコシの迷路のほかにも、先日ウィリアムのプリスクールの遠足で行ったLinder Farmのようにかぼちゃ畑をはじめ、ほかの楽しいものがたくさんありました。
Besides the corn maze, there were many attractions including pumpkin patch.

そして最後にキャンディーキャノン（キャンディーが大砲からドッカンと発射されるのでそれを拾うやつ）。
And the candy cannon🍬 This cannon shoots candy out and we get to pick them.

We are waiting for the candies. Can you see the cannon in the middle of the picture? It looks like a stick.

ここを出るころにはもう7時過ぎていたので、バーガー屋さんにみんなで食べに行って解散しました。長い一日だったけれどとても良い一日になりました。
It was after 7 when we were done, so we went to a burger place (my favorite Smashburger) and had dinner. It was a long day, but we had a great time.

グランマの誕生日 Grandma's Birthday

今日は義母（ウィリアムのおばあちゃん）の誕生日でした。ウィリアムにメッセージを書いてもらって写真を撮って携帯で送りました。最近アルファベットを書くのがだいぶ上手になってきました。あいうえおは全然書けませんが。。。
It was my mother-in-law's (William's grandma's) birthday today. I had William write a birthday message on a piece of paper and took a picture of him holding it and texted it to her. William is getting better at writing alphabet. He needs to work on Japanese alphabet though...

今日はウィリアムのお腹の調子が悪く、トレパンをはかせていたけれど、何度もトレパンを変えました。寝ているときに布団をかけて寝ていないことが多くて昨晩もそうだったからお腹冷えたのかな。
William had a stomach problem today. Good thing that I had him wear pull ups because I had to change it a few times. I think he got cold while he was sleeping last night. He rolls around so much that he never has his blankies on. 

今日の夕飯はお好み焼き。毎回作って思うけど広島風は作るのめんどくさ～い！でもおいしいから頑張って作っちゃう。
We had Hiroshima style okonomiyaki for dinner tonight. It's a lot of work, but I like it better than Osaka style (well, for now). 

ごっこ遊び Play Pretend

YMCAの幼児教育準備プログラムでは毎月学ぶテーマがあって、今月のテーマは「地域社会」。幾つものコーナーで違った遊びができるようになっています。
YMCA's Early Learning Readiness program offers different theme every month for kids to learn. This month's theme is "community". There are several stations to play and experience different things.

今日ウィリアムがやったことの一つは、消防士さんの恰好をしてごっこ遊び。警察官になりすましたお友達とパシャリ。
One of the things he did today was to play pretend. He was a fire fighter. One of his friends was a police officer.

クラスの後は、となりの公園でお友達のマケーナちゃんと遊びました。寒い日だったけれど天気がよかったので結構温かくすごせました。ウィリアムはマケーナちゃんと楽しく遊びました。
After ELR, we went to the park next door and played for like half an hour. It was a cold day, but sun was out, so it wasn't too bad. William and his friend Makenna had a good time.

今晩は夕飯にロールキャベツ。おいしかったけど、夜教会の用事で出かけなくてはならなくてものすごく早食いしたのであんまり味わえなかったなあ。
We had some rolled cabbage for dinner tonight. It was yummy but I was in a hurry to go to the church for Activity Days and couldn't really enjoy every bite. I could have enjoyed more if I wasn't in such a hurry.

プリスクールの遠足2 Pre-school Field Trip ＃2

今日はプリスクールの遠足でLinder Farmsに行ってきました。
William's pre-school had a field trip today. We went to Linder Farms.

まず干し草を運ぶトラックに乗ってかぼちゃ畑へゴー。
First we took a hayride to the pumpkin patch.

干し草を座席代わりに座ります。

かぼちゃ畑でかぼちゃを一つ選んで持って帰ります。
There each kid got to pick one pumpkin they wanted.

 重くてぐずってます（笑）無理やり持たせて笑ってもらいました（右）
He was complaining because it was too heavy to carry. I made him hold the pumpkin and had him smile for the picture. :D

そのあとは農場の動物を見たり。。。
After that, we saw some farm animals...

干し草を高く積んだところから降りてくる滑り台で遊んだり。。。
and played with a giant slide...

大きいトラクターのタイヤで遊んだり。。。
and played with huge tires (probably tractors')...

干し草の迷路で遊んだり。。。
and did a hay maze...

トウモロコシの迷路で遊んだり。。。
and did a corn maze...

トウモロコシの種に埋もれて遊んだり。。。
and played in corn box...

最後はスナックを食べて解散。
And had snacks, then it was time to go home.

このところとても寒くて、今日は最低気温が6度、最高気温が16度ほど。もう秋を通り越して冬です。
It has been really cold the last few days. Today, the low was 42 and the high was 59. It's like winter here already!

ということで、昨日今日は夕飯にチゲ鍋。ウィリアムが野菜など入れるのを手伝ってくれました。
So, We had Nabe (hot pot) for dinner last night and tonight. William helped put some stuff in. :)

それから今日はウィリアムに夕飯前の忙しい時にシュガークッキーを作らされました。ハローウィン用の型抜きで型を抜きたいと言ってきかないので仕方なく。母頑張ってます！
William wanted to make cut-out sugar cookies with Halloween cookie cutters. Of course he wanted to do it right before dinner time when I was busy, but I managed to do it. I'm doing my best to meet his crazy requests. 

最近作った食べ物 Things I Cooked/baked Lately

最近久しぶりの仕事でここ2週間ほど忙しくしてました。ブログも久しぶりの更新。
I had been really busy with some translation job for about two weeks, and couldn't update my blog.

いろいろあったけど、ここのところ作った食べ物を載せます。
I don't know where to start, so I will just post some of the things I cooked/baked lately.

これはブライアンがバーベキューしてくれたハンバーガー♪もう寒くなってきたのでバーベキューできるのもあと少し。
We had hamburgers last Saturday. Brian barbecued the patties. It's getting cold, so we probably have a few weeks before we won't be able to barbecue anymore.

これはアイスボックスクッキー♪生地を作っておくと食べたいときにすぐに焼けるので便利～。でも食べ過ぎに注意。。。
These are ice box cookies. It's very convenient if you make the dough ahead and freeze it. You can get it out of the freezer and bake whenever you want cookies. :)

これはバターナットスクウォッシュというかぼちゃのスープ。日本のかぼちゃスープを思い出すおいしいスープだった～というか大量にできちゃってまだまだある。。。
This is butternut squash soup. It tasted like Japanese pumpkin soup which I love. We ate it for two nights, and still a lot more left.

これは今朝作ったシナモンロール。今日明日と末日聖徒イエス・キリスト教会の総大会でテレビの前に座って一日何時間も話を聞いているので、そのおやつ（笑）グレーズのないのはウィリアムのやつ。フロスティング嫌いなそうで。
These are cinnamon rolls I baked this morning. I baked them to eat while watching general conference of the church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints. You've got to have some food, you know. lol　The ones without glaze are for William who doesn't like it.

そしてこれは和梨のコンポートとそれを使って作ったケーキ。また大量に小さい和梨をもらったので。明日家族の夕食会に持っていきます。
And this is a Asian pear compote and the cake. I'll bring this to the family dinner tomorrow. :)
