今日は午前と午後で違うお友達の家に遊びに行ってきました。午前中はマティアス君というペルー人とアメリカ人のハーフの子の家。午後は日本人とアメリカ人のハーフのみあちゃんとサム君の家に。ウィリアムは普段あんまりほかの子たちと遊ぶことがないのでとても楽しかったみたいです。
William and I had two different playdates today; one in the morning with a friend who is half Peruvian and half American, and one in the afternoon with friends who are half Japanese and half American. William had a great time with both since he doesn't get to play with other kids often.

ところで、もう昨日のことだけれど、久しぶりにメロンパンを作りました。いつ作ってもおいしい♪
This is from yesterday, but I baked melon pan (bread) for the first time in a long while. They are so yummy!

ウィリアムの誕生日パーティー② William's Birthday Party #2

昨日はウィリアムの4歳の誕生日でした。が。。。
William turned 4 years old yesterday!

午前中は4歳児検診がありました。身長100.7センチ、体重13.8キロ。小さめだけど健康です。
In the morning, he had a 4 year checkup. He was 39.65 inches tall and weighed about 30 lb 6 oz. He is a bit small (8 percentile), but very healthy.

予防接種の注射を2本うたれたけれど、泣かずに笑顔（泣き笑いみたい感じ）で頑張りました。
He had to get two shots today, but he survived. He didn't cry but smiled. :)


午後からは、ボイシ周辺に住むお友達だれでも来たい人を家に招待して、アイスクリームでウィリアムの誕生日をお祝いしました。
In the afternoon, we invited friends around Boise area (anybody who wanted to come) for ice cream to celebrate William's birthday.

誰がいつ来るかもまったくわからなかったけれど、たしか8家族20人が来てくれました。プレゼントもいらないよって言ってあったのに、たくさんもらっちゃいました。ウィリアムは普段あんまり遊べないお友達と遊べて楽しかったみたいです。
I had no idea about how many people would show up and when they would show up, but total of 20 people showed up. I had told them not to bring gifts, but many of them did, so William was so happy. He was also happy to play with many friends he normally doesn't get to play with.

夜は家族でメキシコ料理やさんに食べに行きました。ウィリアムの好きな（一応）ケサディヤとフライドポテトとレモネードがあるので。
In the evening, we went out for dinner at a Mexican restaurant (Casa Mexico). William is a picky eater, but at the restaurant they have the food William likes (fries, quesadilla, and lemonade), so it was perfect.

誕生日だと言ったら、お店の人たちがロンブレロを持ってきてくれてバースデーソングを歌ってくれました。無料のデザートもいただきました♪
I told the server it was his birthday, then she brought other staff members to our table towards the end of the dinner to sing a birthday song for William. William got to wear a sombrero while they sang. :) They even brought a free dessert for us. :)

家に戻ってから、ブライアンとわたしから誕生日プレゼントをあげました。ブライアンからはトーマスの本のシリーズ、わたしからはスポンジ？のブロック100ピース。
After we came home, we gave him birthday gifts.

とても喜んでくれました。昼間友達からもらったプレゼントも含めて、全部のプレゼントと一緒に寝たいと言って全部部屋に運びました（笑）
He was very happy and wanted to sleep with all the gifts he received (including the ones from his friends). :)

無事に4歳を迎えることができてよかったです。これからも元気にすくすく育ってくれるといいな。
I'm glad he was able to have a good birthday. Hope he will continue to grow healthy and learn many things. 

ウィリアムの誕生日パーティー① William's Birthday Party #1

今日は日曜恒例家族との食事で、その後にウィリアムの4歳の誕生パーティーをしました。おとといから頑張って作ったケーキはこんな感じになりました。チョコデコがいまいちうまくできなかったけれどなんとか形になってホッ。
We had a weekly family dinner this evening. After dinner, we had William's birthday party. I brought the cake I had been working on since Friday. The Car's chocolate decoration wasn't perfect, but I'm glad it turned out okay.

幾つかプレゼントをもらったけれど、微妙な反応してました（苦笑）うれしいのか何なのかこの表情は。
William was excited to get some presents...I think. He looks like he isn't sure about this, ha ha.

明日は午後1時から4時までアイスクリームパーティーをする予定です。だれでも来たい時間に来るようにボイシ周辺に住んでいる人みんなを招待しているけれど、実際どのくらいの人が来るんだろう。みんな同時に来なければいいけど。それについてはまた明日。
Tomorrow afternoon from 1-4 pm, we will be having ice cream to celebrate William's birthday. I have invited those who are living in Boise area, but have no clue how many people will end up coming. I hope not too many people show up at the same time. I'll post about it tomorrow.

ベーキング・デー Baking Day

日が変わってしまった。。。27日のブログ投稿です。
The date changed already, but this post is for the 27th.

今日は朝からウィリアムの誕生日ケーキ作り。今日作ったのは明日家族みんなでお祝いするための分。焼き終わったら思ったように高さがなく、もう一台作ることに。（ケーキの写真は出来上がったときのを載せます。）
This morning, I was busy baking chocolate cake for William's birthday. This one was for tomorrow to celebrate with family at Sunday dinner tomorrow. but the cake didn't come out tall enough, so I decided to bake another one and stack it on top of the other one. (I will post a picture of the end product.)

その間にもう一つ別のケーキを作りました。先日もらった大量の和梨で作ったコンポートを使って梨のアップサイドダウンケーキ。急いでいたのでブラウンシュガーを使う代わりに普通の砂糖を使ってしまって間違ったけど、それなりにおいしくできました。梨がとてもちいさいのでコンポート作るときに皮むきもたいへんだったし、ケーキ作るときに並べるのも大変でした。
Before I baked the second one, I baked another cake; Asian pear upside down cake. I got bunch of Asian pears the other day from my friends, and decided to make compote. And it turned out pretty good, so I decided to use it for cake. Since the pears were super small, it took me forever to peel them although it only took 15 minutes to make compote on the stove. It took time to put all those little pears in the baking pan as well, but the cake tasted great. :)

今日の夜はブライアンの家族が長く親しくしている家族のお父さんが先日亡くなられて、お葬式に行ってきました。スイス人の方で突然心臓発作を起こして亡くなりました。まだ68歳。とても多くの人に良い影響を与えた人で、多くの人が葬儀に集いました。人の命は本当にいつどうなるか分からないから、毎日大切に行きたいものです。
This evening, we went to the funeral of a Swiss, Rolf Bitsch who is the father of the family Brian's family has been very good friends with for a long time. He had a heart attack on Wednesday morning and passed away. He was only 68. He had a great impact on so many people at all ages and so many people gathered to celebrate his life. We never know when our life will end, so I hope we can all cherish each moment of our lives.

ピクニック Picnic

今日はウィリアムがピクニックをしたいと言うので、裏庭でピクニックをしました。ベーグルとブドウとチーズ。ウィリアムよく食べてました。今日は気温がそれほど上がらず、木陰にいたのでとても気持ちよかったです。
William wanted to have a picnic today, so we had a picnic. We had some bagels, grapes, and cheese. William ate really good. It didn't get really hot today, so it was so nice being outside (in the shade though). 

ピクニックの途中にリスさんも現れました。
While we are having a picnic, a squirrel appeared. :)

ピクニックの後はそのままサッカーで遊びました。
After we had a picnic, we played soccer.

遊んだと言えば、昨日は近くのお友達の家に遊びに行ってきました。ウィリアムいつもあんまり友達と遊んだりする機会がないのでとても楽しかったみたいです。
I didn't update my blog yesterday, but we went to our friend's house yesterday. William doesn't get to play with friends that often, so he had a great time.

今日はウィリアムの誕生日ケーキの準備を始めました。車のケーキがいいということで、カーズのマックイーンのデコチョコ。朝からちょこちょこ始めてやっと夜中の12時過ぎに終わりました。日曜日の家族とのディナーのときのケーキと月曜日のウィリアムの誕生日用のケーキ二つ作る予定なので、デコチョコも二つ。これは裏から見たやつ。表はケーキができてからのお楽しみ～。ぐっちゃぐちゃだったりして（苦笑）
By the way, I started preparing for William's birthday cake today. William wanted a car's cake, so I made a chocolate decoration of Lightning McQueen. These are the back of it. I'll post the picture of the front when the cake is done. :) It took me for a while especially since I had to make two of them; one for a cake to celebrate with all the family members on Sunday, one just for us. 

今日ウィリアムがしたかったこと Things William Wanted To Do Today

今日は朝からウィリアムが「リーフピクチャー」（ウィリアムの好きなテレビ番組で前にやっていた葉っぱの絵）を作りたいというので、庭に行って葉っぱや花びらを集めてきて作ったのがこれ。
William wanted to make a leaf picture (from The cat in the hat) today, so we went to the yard and collected some leaves and some petals to make one.

それから初めて外でバランスバイク。なぜ初めてかというと、ヘルメットかぶるのを拒否していたから。今日も拒否していて二人の間でけんかになったけど、無理やりかぶせて写真を撮って見せたら、なんとか気に入ってくれたようでかぶってくれました。練習中に一度倒れたときに、ヘルメットがあったから大丈夫だったでしょう的なことを話したら納得してくれたようす。これからは拒否しないでかぶってくれるかな。
And another thing he wanted to do was to ride a balance bike. He wanted to ride it outside but wouldn't wear a helmet, so we had an argument about it. Finally I just made him wear it while he was whining, took a picture of him and showed it to him. Then he was okay to wear it. A funny kid. Anyway, this was his first balance bike outside. :) While practicing he fell, and I told him that he could have hurt without a helmet, then he seemed like he understood the importance of wearing one. Hope he will wear it from now on without fighting.

ウィリアムのプリスクールが始まるまであと2週間弱。がんばれ自分。笑
Less than two weeks before William starts preschool. Hang in there mommy! lol


今晩は宣教師がディナーのために我が家に来ました。いつも忙しく準備するだけで写真を撮り忘れてしまうけれど、チキンとポークのプルコギを作りました。デザートにはスパイスケーキ。喜んでくれてよかった。
We had the missionaries over for dinner tonight. I always forget to take a pictures of the food because I get too busy getting ready for dinner, but I cooked bulgogi (chicken & pork) and some spice cake for the dessert. I'm glad the missionaries liked them. 

お父さんの職場訪問 Visited Daddy At Work

今日はブライアンがランチを持っていくのを忘れたので届に行ってきました。Nampaという二つとなりの市にあって25分くらいかかるのでめったに行かないんだけれどせっかくたまたま早く起きて作ったのにくやしかったからさ（サンドイッチだけどね）。
Brian forgot to take his lunch today, so William and I decided to deliver the lunch to him at work. His office is in another city (two cities away) and it takes 25 minutes to get there, so we hardly ever go visit him unless we have to. We didn't have to today, but I made the lunch (it's just a sandwich though), so I was determined to deliver it to him, ha ha.


ブライアンの職場から戻ってウィリアムの好きなテレビ番組を見ながらランチを食べ、終わったら今度は図書館の読み聞かせへ。
After we came home, we had lunch while watching William's favorite TV shows, then headed to the library for the story time.

図書館から帰ってしばらくしたら、今度はLet's Play Musicのクラスへ（初日でした）。写真はないけどウィリアム楽しんだ様子。7人くらいいて、ウィリアムのクラスに男の子はウィリアムだけ（苦笑）
After we came from the library, we had little time to play in the house, then headed out for William's first music class. He said he liked it. There were like seven kids in the class and he was the only boy there, ha ha.


とこんな感じに忙しい一日でした。夕飯は昨日と同じものを食べたので作らなくてよかったので助かりました。
It was such a busy day today. Luckily I didn't have to cook dinner tonight since we had the leftover from last night.
