消防署見学 Field Trip to Fire Station

今日はウィリアムのYMCAのクラスで消防署見学に行きました。
There was a field trip for William's YMCA class today, and we went to a fire station.


消防署には台所や筋トレルームなどもあります。
In the station, there was a kitchen where the fire fighters could cook and eat meals, and an exercise room to work out.


消防車には2種類あって，普通に消防車と呼ばれるものはfire engine，はしご付きの消防車はfire truckと言います。Fire truckは水が積まれていないけど，fire engineには500ガロン（約1,892リットル）の水が積まれているそうです。どちらの消防車ともにいろんなツールが積み込まれていました。
I didn't know the difference between fire engines and fire trucks, but we learned that fire trucks have long ladders and don't carry water. Fire engines don't have ladders but carry 500 gallons of water. 

消防団員の着る消防服や酸素ボンベは全部で重量が約75ポンド（約34キロ）もあるそうです。
The whole gear the fire fighters have to wear weighs about 75 lbs. (*_*)

最後にみんなで消防車の前で写真撮影。消防団員の皆さんいつもありがとう。
At the end, we took pictures with some of the fire fighters in front of one of the engines. Thank you for all you do fire fighters!

ところで，昨日と今日の夕飯はバジルペストのニョッキ。バジルソースはめんどうくさくて買っちゃったけど，ニョッキは手作り。結構お腹にずっしり来る感じで，おいしいんだけど二日続けてはきつかったです（笑）
So, I made basil pesto gnocchi for dinner last night and tonight. I was originally planning on making basil pesto from scratch, but it was a lot of work, so I just bought the pesto, but I made gnocchi. It was good, but very filling, and eating them two nights in a row was too much for me.
