教会のハローウィンパーティー Ward Halloween Party

今日は教会のハローウィンパーティーがありました。今年もたくさんの人が来ました。
There was our ward Halloween party tonight. Many people came again this year.

まずはディナー。わたしはスープを持っていくことになっていて，クリームシチューを8リッター分くらい作って持っていきました。あと10人以上の人がスープを持ってきたけれど，ほとんどみんな空っぽになってました。
First, we had dinner. I signed up to bring soup (6-8 qt.), so I brought cream stew. Over 10 people brought soup, but most of them were gone by the time the dinner ended.

その後に外でTrunk or Treat. （車のトランクをデコレーションして，子供たちが各車を回って歩くのでお菓子を配ります。）わたしはお菓子を配って，ブライアンにはウィリアムを連れてトランクorトリートしてもらいました。
Afterward, we had trunk or treat. I handed candies to the kids, and Brian took William to trunk or treat. 

ん～やっぱウィリアムのジーニーのコスチュームかわいい♡またシャツが出ちゃってるけどね。。。
William was cute in his Genie costume. :) His undershirt was out again though...

コスチューム作るの何がいちばん大変だったかというとこれ！やかんみたいに見えるけど魔法のランプ！超時間かかったけどなかなかよくできたと自己満足♪
The hardest part of making his costume was this. The magical lamp! (It looks like a kettle though...) It took me for ever, but I'm glad it turned out pretty good.

プリスクールのハローウィンパレード Pre-school Halloween Parade

今日はウィリアムのプリスクールのハローウィンパーティーで，衣装を着て行きました。
There was a Halloween party for William's pre-school today, so kids came in their costumes.

ウィリアムはアラジンのジーニーになりました。（下着のシャツが外に出ちゃってるけど，笑）
William was Genie from Aladdin. (His gray undershirt wasn't supposed to be out...lol)

こっちは悪いジーニーだそうです。笑

ちょっと早く迎えに行き，パレードがありました。
There was a parade at the end of the class.

かわいくて微笑ましいけど，この微妙な感じが超うける。
It makes me smile just watching the kids.

ファームステッド The Farmstead

今日はYMCAの幼児教育準備プログラムのみんなでファームステッド（かぼちゃ畑やコーンメイズなどがある）に行きました。
William and I went to the Farmstead for his Early Learning Readiness program. 


まずは干し草のトラックに乗ってカボチャ畑へ。
We first rode on the hayride and went to the pumpkin patch.

ウィリアム今回はミニカボチャを選びました。（それでもわたしに運ばせた。。。）
William chose a mini pumpkin this time, and still made me carry it.

その後は，ドンキーや牛などの家畜を見たり，
After that, we saw some livestock.

大きいかぼちゃの前でパチっ。
Took a picture in front of a big pumpkin.

それから大好きな牛の電車に乗り，

Then rode his favorite cow trains.

それからまたまた大好きなトウモロコシの中で遊び，

then played in a corn bath which is another favorite of everyone.

それからクモの巣で遊び，

Then on to the spider web.

滑り台で遊び，

Then played with the slide.

そして最後はジャンピングピローっていうやつ。ウィリアムはこれが一番楽しかったらしい。

Then finally, jumping pillow. William said he loved this the most.

天気が微妙でほんのちょっと雨が降ったりしたけれど，傘をさすほどでもなく，なんとか無事に行けて楽しめてよかったです☆
It sprinkled a little bit, but we were able to have a good time without getting wet.

ジャコランタン Jack-O'-Lantern

今晩「家庭の夕べ」の活動としてカボチャを彫ってジャコランタンを作りました。
We had Family Home Evening tonight. As the activity, we carved a pumpkin. 

まず切りたい部分にシールを貼って，
First we put stickers on the pumpkin where we wanted to carve.

ブライアンが切り抜く係でウィリアムとわたしは応援係。
Then Brian did the carving, and William and I cheered. :)

その後はわたしが中の種とか要するにカスを取り除く係。→ブライアンはこういった汚い仕事が嫌い。
After that, I did the hard part which is to get the yucky stuff out of the pumpkin. Brian doesn't like this type of job that makes his hands dirty.

ウィリアムのプリスクールでかぼちゃ畑に行ったときに取ってきた小さめのかぼちゃだったので，鼻を彫るスペースがなくて目と口だけに。
We used the pumpkin we got from the pre-school field trip to a pumpkin patch, and it was too small to have all the face parts (eyes, nose, and mouth), so we only carved eyes and mouth.

ウィリアムは最近覚えたかぼちゃの歌？をジャコランタンの前でご披露（＾＾）ちゃんと言葉を覚えていてびっくり。わたしは全然覚えようとも思ってなかったのに。
William sang? "Five Little Pumpkins Sitting on a Gate" by the pumpkin. He recently learned this, but I was amazed at how well he had remembered the words. I didn't even know them.

5日ぶりの更新 It's Been 5 Days

また最近翻訳の仕事が入ってきて忙しく、更新する時間がなくて（あったとしてもめんどくさくて）5日ぶりのブログ更新になってしまった。本当は毎日書きたいのだけれどね。

It's been five days since I last updated my blog. I would like to write everyday, but I have been busy with translation work, and I just didn't have energy to update my blog.

と言ってもそんなに大したことはなかったけど。

There wasn't much excitement for the last 5 days though.

昨日の夜は教会の8歳から11歳の女の子たちの「活動の日」の活動があって行ってきました。

ハローウィンが近いので、かぼちゃをペイントしました。

わたしは家からハローウィン仕様のシュガークッキーを持参。

I brought Halloween sugar cookies. :)

それから今日は即席ピザを作りました。生地はイーストを使わないでベーキングパウダーと重曹で。ウィリアムがピザなら食べてくれるので、めんどくさいけど作っちゃう。

And today I baked instant pizza. The dough didn't have yeast but some baking powder and baking soda. You still have to put some work in but I'm willing to do it because William loves pizza and this is one of the only food he is willing to eat.

昨日の夜からブライアンが熱が出たりして調子が悪くて、今日仕事行ったけれど早く帰ってきました。なんだか自分も頭が痛い感じでひどくならないといいなぁ。。。

Brian has been sick since last night, and he came home early from work today. I have been having a headache slightly too. I hope we don't get too sick. 

ここ数日のまとめ Things Happened for the Last Few Days

ここ数日ブログを更新できなかったのでハイライトをまとめてアップします。
I couldn't update my blog for the last few days, so I'll write about some of the highlights.

おととい木曜の夜は、Idaho Humanities Councilが主催する毎年恒例のディナーと講演会（20周年記念）がありました。ブライアンの両親の友達夫婦二人が行けなくなってしまったので、代わりにブライアンとわたしが行くことに。一人50ドルのチケットのところを無料で、おいしい食事をいただいてきました。講演は、おもに歴代アメリカ大統領の自伝を著書に持つジョン・ミーチャム氏。歴代のアメリカ大統領やアメリカの歴史、大統領選挙についてなど、興味深い内容でしたが、まあ半分分かったか分かんないかくらい。苦笑

On Thursday night, there was a 20th Annual Distinguished Humanities Lecture & Dinner hosted by Idaho Humanities Council. Brian's parents friends were supposed to be there, but couldn't make it, so Brian and I got to go there for free (the ticket is $50 per person). We had a great dinner and a lecture from Jon Meacham, a Pulitzer Prize-winning presidential biographer, a contributing editor at Time magazine, and one of the most prominent public intellectuals. He talked about this presidential election, some of the American Presidents, and some history of America. It was very interesting, although I probably understood only half of what he said, ha ha...

ブライアンの両親 Brian's parents

昨日の金曜日はYMCAのプログラムでウィリアムお友達とその日も楽しんで遊びました。
Yesterday, William had the Early Learning Readiness program and had a good time with his friends again.

昨日の夜はピザ♪ウィリアムがチャーハン以外でわたしたちと同じものを食べられる唯一の食べもの。これまでは小さいピースに切ってあげてフォークで食べてたけど、最近突然自分でピザ一枚そのまま手で持って食べるようになり、今回は一枚半も食べました。毎週ピザ作ってあげたいくらい。簡単だし自分も楽できる。

We had pizza last night. This is the only food that William eats the same as us besides fried rice. Up until recently, I would cut a piece of pizza into small pieces and he would eat them with a fork, and he would only eat about half the piece. But recently, he all of the sudden decided to eat pizza with his hands, grabbing the whole piece, and he would easily eat a piece! This time he had a piece and a half! I feel like I want to bake pizza every week for him. It also helps me too since it's so easy to make.

そして今日は、先日の自分の誕生日のお祝いを兼ねて、FUJIYAMAという日本食やさん（寿司がメイン）に行きました。寿司デラックス（約19ドル）を頼みました。日本のに比べたら全然だけど、アイダホにしては上出来。たまには寿司食べたいよね～やっぱ。

And tonight, we went out for dinner to celebrate my birthday. It was last Monday but we couldn't go out then. We went to Fujiyama, one of the Japanese restaurant (main food is sushi). Both Brian and I had Sushi Deluxe ($19). It was pretty good considering Idaho is inland. I need to have seafood once in a while.

納豆チャレンジ Natto Challenge

今晩宣教師を夕飯に招待してありました。ちょうど同僚交換の日だったので、一人新しい長老が来て、納豆チャレンジしてもらいました（＾＾）
We had the missionaries over for dinner tonight. They were on an exchange, so one of them had never been to our home, so that means Natto challnege!

食べる前はこんなにニコニコしてました。

さて食べた感想は？

う～ん。。。しばらく考えて、アルコールの豆？(alcoholic beans）みたいと言ってもう一口食べてました！なんだそれは？？？
Silent for a while...then he took another bite saying it was like alcoholic beans. What are alcoholic beans???

これは今朝YMCAのクラスに行ったときにまたお友達のマケーナちゃんとごっこ遊び。今日はウィリアム工事現場の人になってました。ちなみにマケーナちゃんはウィリアムより3か月くらい年上なだけ。それでこの背丈の違い。
This was from the YMCA class this morning. William with his friend Makenna. He was dressed up as a construction worker today.
