日本語の勉強 Studying Japanese

数日前から突然ウィリアムが日本語の勉強に意欲を見せていて，ひらがなのカードを並べたり，ひらがなの練習をしたりしています。名前もひらがなでお手本とか見ないで自分で書けるようになりました。幼稚園に行き出してからさらに最近日本語を話すのを嫌がったりしてたので親としてはうれしいのですが。。。
All of a sudden, William started showing interest in learning Japanese. He has been putting Japanese alphabet cards on the floor, practicing writing letters, etc. He can now write his name in Hiragana by heart. Since he started kindergarten, he was more resistant about speaking Japanese, so I'm glad he is willing to learn, but...

ちょっと複雑な気持ち。。。今日ウィリアムが書いたのがこれ。下ネタから入るか！でもまあこれで学んでくれるのならありがたいと思って感謝するべきなのかな。
I have mixed feelings. William wrote this today. For those who don't understand Japanese, he drew a picture of the gas coming out of a bottom and wrote down the Japanese words for bottom and the gas sound. But if this kind of things motivates him to study Japanese, I should probably be happy and grateful for it, right? lol

ところで今日は日本の両親から荷物が届きました。本当は昨日届いたのだけれど，1分くらいの差で郵便屋さんを逃してしまい（サインをしないと受け取れない）今日再配達してもらいました。
By the way, we received a package from my parents today. It actually came yesterday, but we missed the mailman by like one minute and had to have it delivered today (They require a signature to receive parcels so I had to be home). 

ウィリアムはお菓子にはそんなに目もむけず，何か月も楽しみに待っていた「おおきなおおきなにんじん」という本を読みたくて，クリスマスプレゼントだからと話したけれどどうしても待てずに開けてしまいました。とても気に入ったようです。結局もう一冊入っていた本も出して読んでしまいました。じいじばあばありがとう！
William had been waiting for this book about a huge carrot. It was supposed to be a Christmas present from my parents, but he couldn't wait until Christmas. He loved it, and he got out another book that was in the package as well and read it. Thank you, Japanese grandpa and grandma!


ところで自分の話になるけれど，先週からの風邪，だんだんひどくなっておとといの夜には「はやり目」になってしまい，とうとう昨日病院行ってきました。目薬と抗生剤を処方してもらって今飲んでる最中。ウィリアムはもう鼻水と軽い咳くらいだけど，ブライアンとわたしはまだ鼻づまりに咳が結構出てしんどいです。でもなんとかクリスマスまでにはそこそこ回復しそうなのでよかった～。
As for me, I'm still sick. I wasn't getting any better and even got pink eye two nights ago! I finally went to the doctor yesterday, and the doctor gave me some eye medicine and antibiotic, so I should start feeling better. I'm still coughing often and so is Brian. We are still congested and constantly blowing our nose. William only has a runny nose and cough sometimes. It's been hard, but I'm glad we can probably get better by Christmas.
