聖パトリック祭 St. Patrick's Day

昨日3月17日はアイルランドの聖パトリックの祝日でした。アイルランドのシンボルカラーの緑やシャムロック（3つ葉のクローバー）のついたものを身に着けたり，レプラコーン（アイルランドの妖精）に仮装したりしてお祝いします。わたしたちも緑の服を着て（数年前に作った名字入りのTシャツ。オバノンはアイルランド系の名前です）お祝いしました。スーパーに用事があって出かけたけれど，結構多くの人たちが緑着てました。
It was St. Patrick's Day yesterday. There were quite a few people wearing green clothes as we went out to the grocery store to get some stuff. We wore a green t-shirt we ordered a few years ago as well. 

今日は講師の都合でYMCAのクラスがお休みになったので，それじゃあということで，緑色のフロスティングを塗ったカップケーキをたくさん作って（68個）いろんな人にあげました。自分たちの分に残した数個を残して全部なくなりました。やっぱお祝いごとには何かやんないと楽しくないよね。来年は何をしようかなあ。
There wasn't YMCA class for William because the instructor was going to be out of town, so I decided to make bunch of cupcakes with green frosting to celebrate. I invited people in town to come over to grab some, but only one family came. lol But it was okay. I didn't expect many people to come. Some just couldn't make it during the time I suggested. So, William and I went out to deliver them instead. And all the cupcakes were gone except the ones I kept for ourselves. It's always fun to do things like this. I'm already thinking about next year. lol

ところで，夕飯にはアイルランド料理のコーンビーフ＆キャベツを作る予定で昨日その材料を買ってきました。でも出来上がっているコーンビーフを買う代わりに，最初からビーフを作ろうと思ってそれ用の牛肉を買ってきました。ところがレシピをちゃんと読まずに買いに行って，家に帰って来てから作るのにどれくらいかかるのかなあとか思って読んでみたら，肉を準備してから6日待たなくちゃ食べれないって書いてあるじゃないか！？(*_*)ということでコーンビーフは食べれませんでした。だから仕方なく夕飯は韓国料理のプルコギ。緑がないのでご飯に食紅入れて緑色に炊きました（笑）
By the way, I was thinking of making corned beef and cabbage for dinner. So, I bought the stuff yesterday, but instead of buying pre-made corned beef, I bought some beef brisket, and I had no clue that it took like a week before I can eat after preparing the meat! So, I couldn't have corned beef tonight (We'll be eating it in a week). Instead, I cooked Bulgogi (Korean BBQ) with green rice (I had to throw some green in the meal).

それから最後に一つ。セントパトリックスデーのシャムロックは3つ葉のクローバーで四つ葉じゃありません！でも結構みんな知らないみたいで（恥ずかしいことに現アメリカ大統領も知らなかった）1ドルショップで買ってきたこの帽子にも四つ葉のクローバーが！よく見ないで買ってきちゃったけど，気づいてたら絶対買わなかった！今朝気づいてリボンのところ取って捨てました（笑）
And one last thing I want to write is about shamrock. So many people here don't know shamrock only has 3 leaves, but 4! (Even our new President didn't know that which is very embarrassing). I got this hat from a dollar store without realizing (If I knew, I wouldn't have bought it). I just noticed this morning, and threw the ribbon part away. lol
